"I'll try an' like it," he half-promised, unwilling to do anything more than that. Tuck knew he'd probably enjoy it, Lord knew he'd eat anything that wasn't nailed down, but sometimes it was fun to tease. He was anticipating the look on her face when she introduced him to something she enjoyed, and just thinking about it made him want to move faster so that they could get to the ocean and eat all of the seafood they could buy - just so that he could watch her enjoy it.

"Lucky how?" Tuck watched her apply the sunscreen, a slight grin on his face. The instant that she was done, he dragged her against his side again so that he could wrap his arm around her. "I mean, why do you think I'm lucky? I got my own reasons for thinkin' I'm the luckiest guy alive, but, I'm wonderin' why you think I'm lucky."

He kind of figured she was talking about the fact that he didn't burn, but that was thanks to genes and nothing more.

There was a slight break in the buildings that bracketed the streets, and Tuck pointed ahead to the large boardwalk and the wharf beyond it.

"Because you don't burn," Heidi whined and pretended to hide from the sun under Tuck's arm when he held her again. Her arm settled around his hips again so her thumb could hook his belt loop and keep her arm in place. "Teach me your ways~." She was kidding now. Heidi knew she couldn't ever not burn like Tuck, she could just hope being a Hunter and having a shield would prevent it from being too bad.

Heidi gasped with delight when she saw the water, freeing herself from Tuck's hold on her so she could take his hand and tug him along. She was practically skipping. "Come on, come on~! Maybe we can find me a hat, a big one with a wide rim." It was one part joke and two parts 'something to protect my face'. "Hmm..too bad we didn't put our suits on back at the hotel, I bet there's stuff to do down by the water."

"You're jus' too pale," he laughed and shook his head. "I'd think you'd be safe, though. All things considered." Like hunter shields. Weapons. That kinna thing. He didn't say it aloud. It was fun to pretend that the island didn't really exist.

"What do you got planned for tomorrow? We can always come back, do some more sight seein'. We leavin' tomorrow, headin' back home? I could do with two whole days here, bein' honest."

It was so nice and so goddamn sunny. In all truth, he never wanted to leave.

Heidi grinned. "You love that I'm pale," she teased affectionately, kissing the back of Tuck's hand. She was probably safe from the worst of it, but she'd noticed last time she did still turn slightly pink. She'd be okay, it was just annoying.

"Uhhhh I only had planned for the beach, really. Since I got one of the big rooms instead of a regular one we don't have to check out until five, so we've got the whole day. I wasn't intending on just waking up and going straight home, no." In truth Heidi was being selfish. She wanted to have Tuck to herself for as long as she could, so she was totally okay with staying as long as possible. "Heck, we can even spend half the day in bed if we want, before we go sight seeing and beach playing." She shrugged, grinning back at Tuck and finally stopping when they reached the boardwalk along the water. She squealed, letting go of Tuck's hand to clap hers with excitement.

"It's so pretty! Ahhh! The water is so blue! The water is never this blue in Rhode Island! Ohmygoooooosh!"

Tuck didn't answer her, only chuckled with a look on his face that said you goddamn right I love that you're pale.

He had to wonder if Heidi knew just how her playful words affected him. It was difficult living with a weapon like Herryk, one who must have had a very voracious... appetite prior to becoming a weapon. Whenever she talked about bed, Tuck's thought's immediately turned to the more inappropriate angle of things - and he attributed most of that to Herryk.

He crossed his arms over his chest when Heidi released his hands, and took a moment just to watch her enjoy the water. Tuck couldn't help but grin broadly as he stepped forward to stand next to her so that he could gaze down at the beach below. It was pretty ******** spectacular.

"Never seen water that blue before. It's real pretty. What do you wanna do first?"

"Ummm! Leeeeet's.." Heidi turned to lean her weight on Tuck, tilting her head to nuzzle her cheek against him while she looked up and down the boardwalk. What did she want to do first? She was okay with anything. Heidi looked up at him and smiled. She couldn't help it, just being near him made her so happy. Heidi turned so she could put his arms around her and held herself close against him, making the happiest little noise as she did so. This was what she wanted to do first, to just hold him.

Was now a good time to say it? She wanted to say it. She wanted to tell him so freakin' bad how much he meant to her, how much Heidi loved him, but was now a good time? It had to be perfect. This was her first time saying she loved him, or anyone for that matter, so it couldn't just be a random stupid moment that was totally uncool and unromantic and..

Hnnnng this was hard.

"I thiiiink there're some restaurants along here if you wanted to try more food," Heidi finally suggested as she tilted her head back to rest her chin on Tuck's chest and look up at him. "I'm still kinda full myself, but I can try little things."

Remember how I never said I'd forget my phone when I went to work ever again? Apparently I lied.
