Nash - stalls - ring toss
2 marks 1 3/4 left
Odds - miss of doom
Evens /

Nash had listened to the speech, tucked near the back and out of this twin's sight. V'ail could handle himself. Harbinger was settled near his feet, the gold flit attempting to keep a low profile and restraining herself to the occasional hiss. Someone had died, a rider and it could be his twin when Lanterneth was large enough for flight. He frowned, fingers twitching and kneading his fine linen trousers. He forced himself to relax, before he managed to ruin his clothing.

V'ail would be fine. He took a deep breath and moved away to the market place, Harbinger landing on his shoulder. He idly scratched the flits head and paused, looking over the game. He then looked over the prizes, idly looking at the dragon toys and stuffed flits. Sunny would like that and maybe the combs for Hollin?

Nash smiled, walking up and pulled a 1/4 mark from his spending money. "If I could get a try?" He asked, handing it over.

This... could be a bit trickier then he thought.

Odd: 3
Even: 4, 6

Heill - Games - 2 Marks
2-1/4 = 1, 3/4 Marks

(*)

Heill abandoned the idea of stealing a pie when he heard the shouts from the Games. He grinned and raced over, seeing people throwing tossing rings. He realized the amount was kind of steep, but he wanted to have a prize!

"I'll play!" He said to the vendor, handing over his 1/4 Mark and picking up the rings, tossing them out onto the catches. Grinning and whooping as he got 10 points!

Adi - Y'or's Stall
6 Marks

Adi was not a member of Dauntless wing, nor had she been even passingly acquainted with it's wingsecond, but it was still sad that he had died. She had even sniffled a little at the speeches, and cuddled her silver flit for comfort. As with all sadness, however, her solution was to banish it with happy things...which was made especially easy in this case, thanks to the Gather. There was nothing not like about gathers! There were people, and games, and food, and things to buy, and-

Ooh, ohh, there were ribbons! While not surprising - this was a Gather, after all, there were always ribbons - it was no less delightful. Neither did the fact that she had lots of ribbons, including the pink ones already braided into her hair, make them any less appealing. There was no such thing as too many ribbons. As the Courier enthusiastically set to looking them over - with a chirped "Hi, Y'or!" for the stallkeeper - something else caught her eye.

"Oooh," she cooed over the flight harness, bright eyes wide with admiration. "It's so pretty! How much is that?"

C’ross – 3 Marks – Lanakirene’s Stall

Whatever I’saak was going to tell him, C’ross didn’t quite catch in time. “Oh, no, Nimith’s still growing, he’s not going to be ready to fly for a while yet. But he’s getting pretty big, and this smells a lot nicer than the usual oil we get, I figured…”

C’ross stopped mid-sentence, comprehension catching up. Oh. Oh.

He turned colors, dropped the jar of oil like it was a venomous tunnelsnake, then made a little convulsive motion with his hands like he could somehow frantically wipe the gay off. Then he turned on his heel and left the stall without another word to any of them.

---

Idris – 7 3/4 Marks – Vintner’s Stall

Oh, their double act was actually quite charming! The generous pour did not go unnoticed or unappreciated by Idris, and there was genuine warmth in her “thank you” as she accepted the glass and took a sip. Small gesture though it was, there was sincerity in it. And kindness towards a female wingsecond on an atypical dragon would be hard to come by, Idris suspected.

It was a good wine, light and crisp and floral, pleasantly refreshing. It washed away the dust-in-her-mouth sensation that the speech had left there. “Ma’am is fine,” she replied, with a little incline of her head; she saw no reason to style herself a man to suit anyone’s tastes.

The Benden accents, the quality of the wine, and the northern look (one that Idris shared herself) that the brother-sister double act wore, all together told a peculiar story. “This is a really lovely white – I’ll have to remember you next time I need a bottle to share. Are you two local, or did you travel here for the Gather?”

F'nell
At the Ring toss

"You're welcome, and you never know." he responded. Games were like that sometimes. He watched her second try as well, noticing that she had gotten a bit better. Good for her, and then, once she was gone, and the others had taken a turn as well while he watched, he stepped up to the game proper.

"I'd like a try," the brownrider said, handing over the quarter-mark, and taking the rings. It hadn't looked that difficult, and, while this wasn't exactly gambling, it was still a game of chance. And those were fun. He could probably spend all of his marks here, just trying to get as many points as he could, but hopefully he'd be able to convince himself not to.

I will make sure you don't. his brown responded, his amusement coating his words.

He took aim at the posts, and then tossed the rings, one after the other. The first two were solid, circling the pegs, but the third missed. Two out of three wasn't bad.

5- 1/4 = 4 3/4 marks.

Lanakirene - Lanakirene's Stall
4 3/4 marks

Lanakirene smiled broadly at Kaylen, gratefully accepting the other woman's marks and wrapping the candles neatly in paper, tying them off with festively bright ribbon before handing them over as they went to their new home. "Thank you so much for your business - if I have a moment, I'll come by and see what you have! Have a wonderful day, Miss!" And then her smile turned to Cai, who was quite determinedly sniffing her oils and trying to guess the ingredients.

"Not too shabby," she remarked to the crimsonrider. "Chili oil's a fine muscle relaxant on its own, but when you mix it with rosemary and wintergreen, it's wonderful for both humans and dragons." She grinned. "My Viath always likes that after a Threadfall." But the girl was sniffing the lavender oils most resolutely, and the blackrider smiled. "If you want something and it's not out, I can see what I can do for you. If you want just lavender, or maybe lavender and rosemary? I can do whatever you like. Quarter mark for a quart, three quarters for a gallon."

It seemed in the meantime, however, that the blueweyrling had dropped the oil jar he had been holding and fled. K'yne, however, seemed to want to buy one of his own. "Half-mark for that, darling, or I can mix something up special for you, if you'd prefer."

---

I'saak - Lanakirene's Stall
4 7/8 marks

I'saak hadn't left with C'ross. Instead, he had stayed, staring somewhat puzzled at the jar of oil his friend had dropped. So this was...well. That was certainly something, wasn't it. When the stallholder had a moment, he leaned in close, whispering a request to the blackrider. She smiled, inclined her head, and ducked down among clinking glassware and rich-scented oils while she decanted and measured. After about a minute, she straightened up, smiling, and handed a round, palm-sized bottle of oil to I'saak. He passed her an eighth-mark piece.

Slipping the bottle into his pocket, the greenweyrling then drew back, resolutely attempting not to make eye-contact with K'yne.

Kaylen - Manning her Own Stall Now - 3 3/4 Marks

(*)

Kaylen smiled and took the candles. "I might even just give you a discount." She winked at the black rider and headed off towards her own stall, it was time to set it up anyways. She moved Lissy to her arm and handed her the candles. "Room." She said before pushing her arm up into the air, Lissy taking off and wandering around before disappearing.

Kaylen received the images of her candles being set on her bed before Lissy appeared next to her again, moving to her shoulder once more. "Good girl." She would have to give a treat to her later.

Wen - 5 marks - Lanakirene's stall

The nice thing about Cai is that she was very easy to track down. The red hair. He walked over and smiled, listening to her chatter about herbs as he worked his way through the crowd. Short and thin had advantages.

"I've always had a preference for lemongrass," he replied lightly, looking over a candle in thought. "But rosemary does have a certain spice... and how are you Cai?"

K'yne
Weyrling: 3 marks - 1 = 2 marks

Are you honestly buying scented oils?

It's not as if I want to spend it on something else. Perhaps some ribbons later but this... Full lips curled up into what he hoped didn't look too devious. I have to. It'll be fun.

No. No it wouldn't. We have very different ideas of fun. Psaumith grumbled but he quieted down when K'yne snagged the bottle C'ross dropped. "May I get each of these in pints instead of quarts? Three-fourth mark for the two of them?"

He didn't know about C'ross but K'yne had no need of a quart of, ah. Personal oils. The shorter man glanced at I'saak, studied him and his diverted eyes for a moment, and then pushed a sharp elbow against his arm. "No matter what, you did not see me buy this. Okay?"

Nash - lets try this again - Ring toss
Odds 3 / 5
Evens 4
1 3/4 mark = 1 1/2
Harbinger let something close to a chuckle and Nash hushed his flit. One fail wasn't enough to give up. The stall keep had to make money somehow which meant on average people lost. It was just bad luck. A warm up.

He handed over the quarter mark for a other try and took the rings. Okay, breath... and try again. Hopefully with less fail.

One was better then not managing at all.

C’ross – 2 15/16 Marks – High Striker
Score: 20!

For reasons unknown (please Faranth let them remain unknown, C’ross was going to assume they were buying dragon oil) K’yne and I’saak were still standing at Lanakirene’s stall. C’ross wasn’t going anywhere near there. Not now, not ever again. Possibly he would never be able to make eye contact with that healer woman for the rest of his life.

There were better things for him to do with his time. For instance, the high striker game! C’ross wasn’t certain that he actually needed a firelizard egg. Trill was quite enough for him to be getting on with. But he could sell it, or give it to I’saak as a gift, or do something else with it. More importantly, it was important for the sake of bragging rights.

“I’ll give it a try,” he told the heavyset man, taking the hammer and hefting it to test its weight and balance. Once he was satisfied with a few quick practice swings, C’ross brought the hammer down hard on the lever.

WHAM.

Lanakirene - Lanakirene's Stall
5 1/4 marks

"Candles are four for an eighth-mark, twenty for a half-mark! You won't see a better deal here at the weyr!" La said brightly to Wen. "If you want something more, I've lamp oil, too. Burns a bit longer than candles, smells just as good. Just depends what you use in your weyr. Costs about the same, pound for pound."

And then the brownweyrling who had come up with the other pair. "Absolutely!" she said cheerfully to K'yne. "But a pint of each is just a half-mark, love." She was brilliantly cheerful as she took note of the scents, ducking down under her table again to measure out the proper jars. Then she popped back up, tying a festive ribbon around the mouth of both jars as she pushed them over. "Hope you enjoy, sir."

---

I'saak - Wandering off
4 7/8 marks

"See you buying what?" I'saak answered K'yne's question quite resolutely, with a tone of utmost gravity. "Neither of us bought anything here." And then his attention wandered. "Hey, um. Not sure what you want to do, but I think I'm gonna head over in the direction of the smith's stall. There's some things over there I really want to look at."

Cai
(Marks: 5)

She hadn't really considered chili for it's medicinal purposes, her main focus had always been on herbs specifically, and some roots and barks. She'd not given as much attention to 'food' as she maybe should have in her personal studies. She was silent as multiple thoughts heaped on top of each other. Ideas and the beginnings of plans and hundreds of questions filling her mind until Miath cut through it all. I like it. I want to really smell it!

Cai glanced at the jar. "I'll take a quart of this one, a quart of grap--!" Cai near jumped out of her skin. She whirled around, eyes wide and aimed a smack at Wen's shoulder. "Wen you wherrie's arse!" She wrinkled her nose. "Lemongrass? Ew. I don't want to know what you have that requires lemongrass." She ignored his question with a huff, wanting to finish her business with Lanakirene.

Cai's cheeks were bright pink as she continued her request. "One quart of the muscle oil, another of grapeseed oil if you have it, and if possible, I'd like a pint each of peppermint, lavender, and tea-tree if you have those as well?" Since she had the marks, she could afford to stock up on some basics for herself and Miath. Then maybe she'd look at the candles.

"I'm fine by the way." She added as an aside to Wen, not looking at him.

Adi - Y'or's Stall
6 Marks

Four marks was kind of a lot. She did have four marks - actually, she had six - but there were so many other nice things she might want, too! Adi chewed at her lip, shuffled her marks in her hand, and thought about it. It was a really nice flight harness, and Maz would look really handsome in it. They wouldn't use it during Threadfall, of course, something could happen to ruin it, but for everything else...

Yeah, she wanted it, but she also wanted some more marks left for the rest of the Gather, and so the bluerider attempted to look as puppy-eyed and adorable as possible and asked, "Does it have to be four marks?"
