Delta flinched at the harsh comments at the end. "Of course I want to prevent that. I..." He just... couldn't see that method working. Simple plans would burn in his presence and complicated ones would be too confusing to explain. And he... wasn't up to the challenge. He wasn't brave, wasn't adventurous. He wasn't like...
Iota.
He smiled sadly at the fragmented memories he had left of his childhood. "When we were still in blankets, Iota was always wandering off and trying to have adventures... and I wouldn't leave Mama's side." His voice was soft and meek, trying not to be too hurt by his new friend's disapproval of him. "Even with only some early memories left, I guess hold habits die hard." He shook his head, that sad smile still on his face. "Sorry. I really... don't think I can leave here."

Iota? Who the hay stall was Iota? She shook her head to clear that question. He just really wasn’t getting it. “you don’t have to leave.” For a while anyway. She kept that last part to herself. She sounded tired. “All I’m saying is having someone find out where she is. NOT YOU.” She emphasized the last part. “That way the group who will go down will have some place to look so they don’t end up having to search all the desert for her, and risk running into a bunch of nasty things.” She stopped and seemed to be searching for words. “You leaving would do more harm then good. We need a center, a base to come back to. That would be you.” Yes she had said we. She was not about to abandon delta and his family to misery. “I’ll even go to Demoni and the others for you and try and find out if that’s what it takes.”

Delta seemed uncomfortable but alright with the plan. "But who would we send...?" Her last suggestion sent an involuntary shot of panic through him. "N-No!" he protested automatically. "You can't. You'll..." He winced, a sharp pain shooting through his head. He took a few steps backward, shaking his head to try and disrupt the steady throbbing that was developing. What was... going on?

Ah good boy he was figuring it out a bit. He used the word ‘we’ That made her smile just a touch. She didn’t catch that he had stopped behind her and she kept right on walking. “mm Don’t tell me what I can and can’t do. You’ll find I get my mother’s stubbornness and not even dad could top that. So Maybe rather then protesting like you are you could um help me plan so I stay safe?” She snorted softly.

Delta heard Adaeze speak, but he couldn't make out what she said. The words were garbled to his ears. He struggled with the steady throbbing that was developing into a searing pain. He was frozen in place as his vision blurred and his ears began filling with a strange, buzzing noise. He didn't dare move. If he went in the wrong direction, he'd stumble back towards the river and fall prey to the finned mare waiting there. He didn't know what to do... where was this pain coming from? What had caused it? Trying to ask questions was making his head hurt even more...

Adaeze finally noticed that Delta was not behind her now. She stopped and turned cocking her head to listen. Hearing nothing but breathing that sounded wrong she was more confused. “Delta?” She was fairly concerned and turned her body to head back to him. “Delta? Are you there?” Her voice was small while she moved toward the breathing. It was different from Delta’s had been. She stopped a small distance away. She tried one more time. “Delta?” There was no denying the worry in her tone now. She was worried that he might have ended up back in the river or worse the one in the river came out and might be hurting him.

The second time he was called, he heard it. Answering was a problem in itself, however. "H-Here..." His voice was weak and quiet, and it sounded strange in his buzzing ears. His legs quivered as they struggled to support him in his disoriented state. But Adaeze was there. Somehow, despite the pain shooting through his head, that was comforting. He wasn't by himself...

She moved toward the sound and the breathing so she stood right before it and could feel the presence of the other. Most would be uncomfortable with this closeness but it was what she used at times. Delta had something wrong? “Are you alright?” She moved again so the side of her head touched his neck. She then moved around Delta touching him with some part of her body and feeling around for any trouble spots. He didn’t seem stuck, but he wasn’t moving anyway. This was odd.

Delta shook his head to the question. "My head... hurts..." He felt himself faltering and slowly unfurled his wings to steady himself. "Can't..." He couldn't see or hear properly. Adaeze's voice was thankfully making it through, albeit a bit garbled. He slowly lowered himself to the ground, though he fell on his side at the end since he couldn't see it. He drew in the wing on that side at its protesting, but didn't bother trying to right himself. It hurt... why did his head hurt so much?

His head? Oh great was he hurt from before and didn’t say anything this whole time? Of all the stupid, just male things to do! She felt him slide down somewhat before he just disappeared from her ‘sight’. Using a very unladylike set of phrases her father would frown on she lowered her head and found Delta again. He was positioned oddly. “Delta are you bleeding? Did that other one from before hit you in the head? Delta?” She nosed him hard not caring if her metal mask hurt him a bit in the process. “Focus Delta.” She spoke with a growl in her throat and briefly considered biting him to get him to stay with her. “Help do you need help?” She could back track and try to find help. He was too big for her to carry and they might not make it far with him leaning on her.

Delta shook his head to the one question he heard, forgetting she couldn't see him do so. He whimpered when she nosed him, instinctively shying away from the source of pain. Then a harsh command: Focus. "Headache," he finally managed to clarify. He didn't reply to the last question. He had no idea. He wasn't sure if anyone at home knew how to deal with something like this searing pain.

Well at least that narrowed down the search she had to conduct. It didn’t sound very serious. Maybe that water one kicked him or something. She couldn’t remember if it was to sleep after such an incident or not. eh well if she kept him up he could rest later. “Hey Delta.” Her voice was much softer. “Tell me stuff what it’s like to see. Just keep talking. Stay with me now.” She nosed him much softer this time letting her metal mask stay in contact with his head. That should help a bit. If need be she could go to water and wet it. That would make it cooler and better right? “Delta stay here. I’m going to get some cold water. Keep talking to me though.”

"What it's like... to see...?" Delta wasn't sure how to explain that. Adaeze's gentle nosing seemed to take the edge off the mental agony he was suffering from. "I don't... know how to... describe it. I just... open my eyes and there's color... and shapes..." He took a deep breath and then struggled to continue. "Right now, though... all the shapes and colors are blurring together..." He wearily glanced in the direction Adaeze had gone in. "... But I can... still see... with my other sight..."

Tell me about that other sight. Tell me what you see.” Adaeze didn’t really have any idea what he was talking about and didn’t care. She moved back to the water and felt for the bank edge with her hooves. She miscalculated and the small soft section of back gave way below her sending her tumbling into the water. Letting out a small shout she failed unintentionally sending herself further from shore and firm soil. She was lost in water and that made her panic.

"I see..." Delta didn't get to finish because he heard a shout and water. Adaeze. She had said something about water before, hadn't she? He struggled to get back to his feet, stumbling clumsily towards the mare. His vision was still blurry, but the image of a mask with a panicked face was clear to his eyes. He spread his wings as his hooves felt around in front of him, checking for the water's edge. Once he had, he stretched his neck towards the water to try and find the mare. He ended up with his upper half in the water before his nose bumped against the chain of Adaeze's mask. He carefully grasped it in his teeth and gently tugged on it to try and guide his new friend back to shore.
