The giant bedsheet ghost arrived from the military housing sector driven by the need to consume. It's red checkered tongue lashed about as it looked at all the tasty morsels about this new district.

Three smaller bed sheet ghosts flew from his mouth. The carefully lined up their shots before transforming into a three flying pillows. In an amazing display the three broke a storefront window.

Pleased the giant ghost let out another bellowing howl. It floated over and positioned itself infront of the window before using it's elongated appendages to shovel the displays into it's maw. Cardigans, T-shirts, pants and anything made of fabrics was absorbed into the ghost. Anything indigestible, such as the tables and mannequins, fell harmless through the bottom of the bedsheet construct.

It needed to feed more... It needed to grow.

Her eyes came into focus, and she was staring into Rafe's own. Back in the dresing room. Suddenly she clung to him, as to a rock in a storm.

"I'm here. I'm here. What the hell was that?"

Oh, she could guess what it was. Oh, yes, she could guess. But the answer didn't make her happy. Not happy at all.

Who's blood was she covered in?

Rafe looked away from Owle, glanced about the room. Then he saw it and darted away from Owle, smashing a spider in the corner with his thumb. Quickly, he moved back to Owle.

"I'm sorry..."Slowly, he began to back away as if afraid of contaminating her.

Jogging, riotgun clasped with both hands at the soldier's ready, rifle diagnolly across his chest. It was an ghost. Or what looked to be, only made of cloth. It was looming, pun intended, over a clothed store. Busy sucking in more cloth dropping anything that wasn't to the ground below it.

Thus, the sound of crashed wood.

Still jogging, some part of Gamma's conscious mind spoke up having identified it. The rest just realized that it was something to try and kill. With that moment of clarity a single word escaped Gamma's mouth.

"Chaos."

"Don't be," Owle said, stepping forward and grabbin his arm...the one that hadn't been used to smash the spider. Nevermind that she was still in her panties, nevermind what had just happened. She couldn't have him running away from her.

"It would probably have happened whether you were here or not. And if you weren't, where would I be now?"

He smiled and moved forward again, wrapping his arms around her tightly, not wanting to let go. "I'm sorry, chere. I was selfish." He pressed his lips to her forehead as one hand cradled her head to his lips.

"What was I thinking...I'm nothing but a dreamer..."

"I don't know what you're talking about," Owle said, in a tone that wanted an explanation. She was still very freaked out by what had happened, and had to keep checking to make sure she wasn't covered in someone else's blood.

...more than just one someone else's. People didn't have that much blood in them, did they?

She stood there in his arms, trying to reassure herself that this was what was real. There wasn't any blood on her. There wasn't any blood. See? No blood. No blood at all.

The ghost had cleaned the store out faster than a mob of blond bimbos with fake handbags. Plus the ghost had grown larger thanks to the feeding, it began about the size of a hummer and was almost one third larger now.

Chaos.

It heard the call and all it could do was respond. It pivioted in the air to face the chalanger, tablecloth tounge swaggling with left over momentum afterwards.

Then there was another roar as it opend its pitch black mouth as wide as possble. Two "bangs" followed as the ghost fired projectiles at Gamma, two spiraling couch cushions with the force of a cannonball behind them. If Gamma didn't dodge out of their way, this was gonna be the most embarassing type of excruciating pain he'd ever be in.

Gamma was still heading forward, still jogging at the patchworked ghost. It opened it's mouth and some kind of explosion was heard. Had Gamma been a little more coherent, he'd find something odd with a giant bedsheet firing things at him. He might also had noticed that the projectiles were cushions, and stopped to wonder if this too was just an illusion.

The current Gamma merely noticed one thing; it was trying to kill him. So he spun, quickly, suddenly, twisted his enormous armored weight and using the artificial muscles to make it all happen. Twisting and weaving like a football player moving up the field. A hand moved on it's own, a grabbed a grenade from his thigh. Third row down; flares. Signal flares. The hand jammed the flare into the waiting maw of the launcher and slammed the slide back, chambering it.

"Ah chere..." He continued holding her, not wanting to let her go. "I don't think I know anymore myself..." He bent her head back to look at him, his eyes almost about to tear up, though perhaps he would try to kiss her.

"Little bird, little bird...will you sing for me when this is all over..." He bent down, his lips close to her before he jerked away. "Or will you never forgive me..." he released her and moved away, slamming his fist into the wall as he leaned against it with the other arm.

Thud, thud. It seemed the father the cushions got from the ghost the quicker the lost momentum. Obviously the ghost would have to send something stronger than that at the man if it wanted to consume those delicious fabrics.

I quickly floated where it would have more range of movement and began to charge its next attack. It spun its appendage in the air over and over, building more and more momentum. If you had any magical sense you would feel the shadow stitching on the tip of the arm about to give out, and when it did give out the arm lashed forward. From the tip of the now ripped open arm shot three chaotically enhanced balls of yarn, all tied together like a triangle. Somehow the balls unravelled just the right amount, and they spun just the right way.

It was a yarn bolo aimed to immobilise the highly mobile Gamma.

Owle just stared at him, wide-eyed. She glanced away, down at herself again. No blood. When she looked back up, he was so near...and then he was suddenly violent.

"Rafe...you're scaring me..."

She took the steps necessary to reach him, and put a comforting hand on his left shoulder. She didn't know what was going on, she didn't know why he was acting this way. She didn't know what had happened before, and she didn't know if Rafe had somehow caused it.

He turned and looked at her big brown eyes..and melted. "Please don't cry, chere..." He looked at her. "I'm a selfish fool." He then clung to her, his face pressed into her hair and shoulder. "I'm a danger to you now, as I was then. I was foolish to think it could be otherwise."

And the tailoring abomination would be disappointed; Gamma wore nearly no cloth. The plating on his powered armor moving quickly and effortlessly, it was nothing more than an exoskeleton.

Gamma too, was disappointed. He had a magnesium flare all ready to jam into the piehole of this ... Sheet ghost. Instead it spun, and Gamma slowed as to avoid the flailing arms.

It was this nondecision, rather this instinct, from the simple Gamma which caused him to hesitate when an arm opened and spewed what looked to be yarn. Gamma responded with a profile shift; separating both feet and, after drawing a knife with his left hand, the extension of his arms. His entire left side face away from the incoming yarnball, while the right aimed the riotgun with launcher straight at the ghost, and fired with a dull foomp.

What was left to be decided was the weight of these yarn balls; each of his limbs were separated enough to keep them from being tangled, hopefully. Otherwise it would be a question of how they weighed him down. It would need to be much, considering the power behind the artificial muscles and actuators in his armor.

"I won't," Owle promised. She held him, glancing down at her arms as she did so.

Still no blood. But the imagined sensation would not go away.

She held him because he seemed to need her, even if she wasn't all there. Even if she really needed him.

"I don't understand," she repeated. "Why are you a danger to me?"
