Ganner dropped where he was, making sure to place the bulk of a nearby tree between himself and where he had spotted the goblins. He must have made more noise than he thought and the goblins were investigating. He was sure that if they had seen him that Halcyon would have called out to either fight or flee. If that was the case, and they had not pinpointed his location yet, then that also meant that he might have a chance to escape without attracting the attentions of the entirety of their burrow. That meant that he would need to kill quickly and silently if they came upon him. Which left him with only his sword, since his spells were too flashy, and his bow was too loud. Ganner reached down and checked again to be sure that his sword was loose in its scabbard. He dared not draw it though as the rasping sound it made might be enough to alert the gobbies. All he could do now was wait.

Leon took off his cloak, careful the goblins didn't see the motion, and hung it on a branch on the tree. then he carefully slinked into some nearby brush. he drew his daggers, but he left ember's kiss unkindled. Now, he waited, slowing his breathing so they would not hear it. His, movements, however, though slow and meticulous, were oriented to the task, not his injuries, and he opened up the punctures in his leg and shoulder in the process.

Leon Held off from making any noise as he felt sudden stabs of pain from the re-opened wounds. Blood began to slowly make growing dark red stains on the bandages wrapped around his arm and leg, but he kept his breath cool and steady and waited. He focused his eyes on the cloak hanging from the tree. It looked Gristly caked in his dried blood as it was. He knew the scent of it would draw the goblins.
"what's this?" the first goblin asked as it approached his cloak and grasped at a low hanging tattered corner.
"I don't know" said the second "tear it down and lets have a look at it."
Leon signaled to Ganner to get into position behind the one closer to him and strike.
the Goblin tugged at Leon's burlap cloak, but it didn't come down. it was hooked on a branch higher than what he could reach. He gave it another stronger tug and it began to tear "come on you piece of filth!" he snarled.
Leon slowly and carefully came out from his spot in the brush and walked up behind the second, watching goblin.
The first Goblin gave out another snarl "COME ON!" as he tugged a final time and ripped the bloodstained cloak down from the tree branch. "HAH! Got it!" He turned around just in time to see Leon wrap his hand around the other's mouth and run a blade along it's throat. It struggled for a bit as Leon held it tight, waiting for it to bleed out, and then it lay still. The Goblin lookout still holding the cloak stared into the fierce dark eyes of the elven stranger and fear struck him. He was about to cry out when...

Ganner's hand snaked around its mouth and he thrust his sword though its chest from behind. He knew it might be cruel, but he even tilted the vile little creatures face down so that it could see the sword that had thrust out from its chest, coated in its own blood. The goblin only took a moment to spasm and die and Ganner shoved it off of his blade. Ganner leaned down and wiped its blood off on its filthy clothes. He'd have to thoroughly clean the weapon again when they made camp. "Well," Ganner said in a low voice. "That went well. Shall we make ourselves scarce before the rest of the family comes to say hello?"

Leon Nodded. He picked up his tattered cloak and stuffed it into his travel sack, hoping that might keep the scent of blood from traveling too far. He'd hoped to eventually find a river or stream where they could stop to fill up their water skins and where he could wash the bloodied thing clean. Alas they had thus far come upon no running water.
Leon made a few gestures to tell ganner to continue following him silently and carefully around the goblin burrow. They weren't out of the woods yet.
An hour later they had made enough distance from the burrow that Leon finally spoke again.
"Excellent job back there. Your timing and execution was perfect and you managed to stay hidden relatively well. I think we may end up making a good team."

"Well, I have done this sort of thing a time or two." Ganner said with mock modesty. He laughed. "So, you haven't really told me yet. What are you plans? I mean, we're heading to that village up north. We can get some healing and restock and whatnot there. But what do you intend to do after that? If you're looking for some adventure I'll stick with you, though I expect equal share on the profits."

"honestly, up until I met you, my long term plans involved dying of blood loss in a relatively shady spot on the side of the road. I havn't thought much about what I'm going to do yet." Leon said with a smirk.

"Well, you seem to be doing less dying of blood loss than you had been planning on, at least for the time being. Sounds like it's time to think ahead again. Like I said. I've got some friends that might still be in the village when we get there. We could always team up with them if they are. A group of five could take on some bigger jobs. Make some more gold. Or if they're not, or if you'd prefer not to we could always set out just the two of us." Ganner said as he and Halcyon continued to walk through the forest towards the North.

In a village not too far from where the two adventurers were located, a young dwarf clothed in simple garments entered past the first part of the settlement. A small golden amulet of Moradin hung from his neck. He leaned slightly on his staff which each step and walked slowly toward the center of the village. He was greeted by some of the passing children who looked at his dwarven features with curiosity and innocence. He smiled at them as they walked along with him.
"Tell me children, do you know where I might find food and a place to rest?" he began. He had been walking for some time from the west, but was given incorrect directions from one of the travelers he had passed. They pointed in the direction where he could obtain the sustenance he need for his pack was nearly empty from his long journey. "I thank you little ones. May Moradin watch over you." he said as he blessed them. They waved goodbye as they returned to their play.
((out of curiosity, where exactly are we located? North of Luskan? How big is the village?))

"I'm just going to follow where the wind takes me. Right now it seems that's with you, but don't be surprised if one day I'm gone without word or warning." Leon turned around and started walking down the road again. "I'm hoping to find a stream soon."

((Somewhere north of Luskan, yes, in a no-name village that does not appear on any of the maps. At least that's where I presume you are? In the village that Ganner and Halcyon/Leon are currently headed towards? We're still several days away from the village also.))
"Well, I welcome your company for as long as you feel like staying, I guess." Ganner said with a smile. "So, how about we get to know each other a little better. Since we really have nothing better to do while we walk. Though if you'd prefer to maintain your air of mystery I'll leave well enough alone."
((Halcyon, if you'd like to have the two converse for a bit we can do that. Otherwise we might as well skip over travel.))

((Conversation for a bit. Halcyon is about to reveal a bit of his dark past, but just a bit, then skip.))
Leon kept in step with Ganner. Though he kept his gaze focused on the road and on the outlying brush, looking for any signs of ambush, he began to speak. "I suppose if we're going to travel together I can tell you a little. I come from Luskan, as I'm sure you already guessed. As you've likely heard it's a city of theives and cutthroats. To say the least I've lived there almost my whole life so you can assume I fell into one or both of those groups. I haven't lived a perfect life and I'm not proud of everything I've done. But some things changed and I wanted out, so I left, although not on the best of terms as you can guess by my wounds. However, my past is behind me and I'm looking for something new out of life. I hope you understand if I don't tell you much more than that. I don't want that past catching up to me any time soon if I can help it."
Leon sighed a deep, somber sigh and continued trodding along the road.
"How about you?"

"I'm also originally from Luskan. Born and raised. I ran with some of the street gangs as a kid too. My mother left me a bit of money when she passed and had told me to use it to leave town. I ended up stranded in a farming village. I worked there until I got a bit older and then joined up with a group of adventurer's that happened to be passing through. Since then I've been bouncing around the region doing odd jobs and spending my coin on good ale and soft beds." Ganner said brusquely, breezing over the details. "This adventuring gig can be hard work, but it usually pays off. You tend to make enough coin to afford a few luxuries and the people, especially in the smaller towns, really appreciate it. If they're running into trouble with goblins, or beasts, or bandits, or whatever. You go in, solve the problem, make some coin in the process, and then they get all appreciative and give you free drinks and the women throw themselves at you. It's not really so bad a life."
((Alrighty, timeskippin'!))
Ganner and Halcyon trudged into the village in the early morning. It had been nearly a week since they had first set out and the rations had run out long ago. They had found a river where they drank and refilled their waterskins halfway through the trip. Halcyon had also proven himself at fishing at that point in their journey. Two days later Ganner had managed to take down a rabbit with his crossbow. Despite this the two hadn't eaten as much over the course of the past few days than they probably should have. Ganner picked the biggest building he saw of the whole maybe two dozen in the little village and tiredly forced himself to walk in its direction. He prayed to Tymora that it was the inn, or tavern. At this point he'd kill for an ale and a place to sleep. Though he'd settle for one of the other if need be.

Leon's wound's had not healed well over the past week. Constant movement had broken them open repeatedly and he was weary from blood loss. Sweat and dirt from the road had mixed into his wounds and they had become infected. Over the course of the last two days he had suffered from fever and exhaustion. He trudged along beside Ganner half in a daze and pale as a winter storm as they approached the large building. He was barely aware of what they were doing as they walked in through the large double doors to see tables, chairs, people and a large wooden bar with similarly large wooden kegs set upon it. Leon felt nausea overtake him and he collapsed onto the floor gasping for air. The edges of his vision began to blacken and he could barely hear the sounds of shouting and chairs being scuffled across the floor in a panic. He did not pass out, but what cogent thoughts he had had long slipped away.
