Lazenca blinked... the sound of steel exiting the sheathe was common enough, recognizable. Still growling, he turned to face the man. His eyes opened back up so he could see Degs clearly, pretty much staring at him.

And he took two steps back as the temperature started to go into a mad freefall.

...Just couldn't leave well enough alone.

s**t. His friend was in trouble and in no shape to fight. It would be best to take the safe way out of this fight, but would his opponent be swayed so easily?

"I'm not wanting to play rough here, just take it easy," Charles said as he broke his attack stance, holding his arms open with his scythe in his right hand.

The temperature was dropping. An ice user?

Flare was going to get herself the hell out of the way, but she couldn't leave Allen behind.

"What you need is to get out of the line of fire..."

She stooped down and pulled him to his feet; his weight was more than she had expected, but she managed to support him. She began dragging him away from Charles and the pissed off man as fast as Allen could manage to move.

And Allen was more than willing to assist Flare as much as he could with that. He used his legs to help push himself up again, and moved with her, not arguing or fighting in the least. She'd take him someplace he could rest, he hoped, and stop bleeding. And then he'd be fine.

He wasn't going to let himself die just because he'd hired the wrong mercenaries.

He got excited for the breif moment that he thought a real fight might happen, but kept his cover (which was the ledge of the top of the love shack), peering out over the gambling district, watching over his friends.

His tail moved from bristling to swaying. Was this guy serious? Were they all serious? The first offense had almost been forgiven, because Laz knew he wasn't in his right mind. But then someone steps in and pulls a sword, saying he'll "take care of the problem?" THEN the same person starts freaking out when Lazenca starts staring, showing he wasn't going to back down from someone who couldn't mind his own business?

The stench of coward flooded his nostrils and filled him with disgust. He said and did nothing more than the tail sway and stare. For Degs to even be taken serious, he would have to put his sword away-- and he didn't have very long to do it.

Flare shoved opened the door of the hotel, reached into her pouch. Before the woman working the place could speak, the demon had tossed a handful of gold onto the counter before her.

"Give us a room, any room. Keep the extra, and keep your silence; us two never came here."

Mutely, the girl handed Flare a key. The demoness snatched it out of her hand, and assisted Allen into the rather embarrassing place.

Once in the room, Flare glanced over the amusements within, then proceeded to ignore them. She helped Allen to sit down on the bed, choosing to stand herself; no need to make this evem more awkward for the easily flusterable young man.

Though normally Allen might have been flustered by his surroundings, the current situation made him care quite a bit less. After all, having lost enough blood to make him dizzy made his eyes unfocused enough he couldn't really see much of what was in the room. And a good thing too, as he wasn't sure blushing would be healthy at this point.

Still, his mind was still working, even through that haze. Pulling up his bag, he reached into it and gripped the thing that had made him a target and forced him into the airm pulling it out. The coin quarter. And holding it up, he tried to focus his eyes to inspect it.

"So much trouble, over something like this..."

"Owle found one like that..." Flare examined it from afar. "From a crumbling statue in Barton's west field."

She was slowly going through the girl's memories, taking stock of what had happened to her soul-twined sister.

"Yeah, a statue. Fell apart as soon as I took the coin..."

Allen knew he was missing something. A word or something that had been there. He closed his eyes, trying to think. There had been a word there, he'd thought. A word underneath the coin, there only for a second before it crumbled away. And he was sure that he could remember it, if his mind wasn't so foggy.

"Great," Charles said, knowing his friend had been moved to a safe location. "My bud is placed somewhere nice and no buildings blew up in the process." Not sheathing his scythe, he smiled, turned his back to the wolf...thing, flashed him a peace sign with his free left hand, and began to walk away without fear.

"Thanks for the cooperation, kid. Some diety loves you somewhere."

"Owle's memory tells me it crumbled once she read the word 'Truth'...do you think it could be a petal, somehow?"

If there was more than one identical coin, perhaps they all needed to come together?
PostPosted: Mon Mar 20, 2006 5:03 pm

Truth. That was it, the word he couldn't remember. And Owle had another one like it. More than one of them, the shape...putting two together would make a half circle. Therefore, even with his mind foggy from blood loss, the next conclusion was easy to make.

"Four of them. Four quarters. Making a whole. Maybe the whole would be a petal..."

And then, his eyes narrowed, and he looked at Flare. Knowing that in a choice, she'd ditch him for Owle in an instant.

"Either Owle or I is going to have to give thier piece up."

Daemon was perched on the roof of the building, patiently watching the door. The man with the shiney had gone inside, so now he had to wait for him to leave.
