I might eventually have some short stories for an anthology or something.
Will this be a free thing or a published book, or what? Will it have a theme?

Oh, it will certainly be free. All here in the guild at the library subforum. We are just throwing out our ideas now. Having a theme is one option, we could also write different chapters of the same story (collaboration) or write about a specific character or group of characters regardless of plot.

I can write theme or characters regardless of plot. Collabs are difficult, as I never want to screw up a creation of someone else's. If needed, I have two kinda vague settings people can play around with. I was going to use them for short stories of mine when I had the time in between bigger projects.

Oh, you certainly don't have to worry about running away with someone's idea. Ideally we would come up with a collaborative piece together and try to stay unemotional about it! Haha. Excellent! You know, we could always collaborate by piecing things together like a puzzle. One person could provide the setting, another, the plot, and others will provide the characters. Then we each take turns writing a chapter till the idea is completed!

I have characters too, but they don't have to be played with either setting and are pretty versatile in most fantasy worlds. I'd like to see if anyone else is on board with any ideas of this. On another note: createspace is a great publishing place is any of this is ever written and I'm a beginning editor (I also know one with a good price and good practices). But let's keep that on the back burner for now.

I will be more available after my (hopefully next-to-last) crisis tomorrow - irl has been entirely too exciting lately.

@ Write Ivre: That's excellent! Exactly what I'm looking for! We can share bits and pieces of our ideas with each other and come up with something fantastic! We could do several collaborative pieces as well as write solo for stories that we just want to share. The collaborative work will require some discussion and planning but a collection of our works just based on a mutually decided subject could be written right away! I don't see any reason we can't have our collaboration and eat our anthology too....Wait? Hahaha, you get it. Yeah, that definitely sounds cool! Be sure to share a link and description of createspace for all our aspiring authors! Although, I hardly think that these early writings we do would be good publishing material. HOWEVER! Any of these ideas or stories can provide amazing fuel for the imagination! If you get an idea for an in-depth story that you wish to publish then run with it! Unless specified otherwise, I intend to allow our collaborative work to be owned by all of us for our free use where and however we like. Our solo work for any collection is a different story. Singular author, singular ownership. Awesome! Yes, this is what I was hoping for as well. A place for writing both collaborative works and solo works. I hope our members are willing to do both! Create their own work as well as work with a group of writers to write something else! Aw! No worries of course! Real-life comes first! I hope and pray that whatever your dealing with is not too serious!

Sounds cool, whenever it starts, I would love to help out with it. And I can do anything, technically. I just don't have time to draw anything, though, url I'm swamped with art requests.

Haha, thank you! blaugh Excellent! We will decide what our first theme is as soon as I gather all of our perspective authors! We can start by writing separate stories with the same theme just to start, then we can work in our collaborations. Brilliant! Oh, and that's fine, you won't have to draw anything! I would like to see your artwork though! Now that you mentioned it! *art obsessed* Alright everyone!!! Shall we discuss what our first theme is? I would suggest something that isn't too vague or too specific. That way the stories are both easy to write for everyone and easy to relate to one another. We should probably start with a simple short story from each of us, maybe around 2,000 words or three pages worth? We should also narrow down our subject matter starting with genre: fantasy, slice of life, etc. Any ideas? Let's try to keep the initial subject simple, it could even be about one object or character that each of our short stories has in common, regardless of genre.

One of those fiber bags with the store's name, so you are paying them for their advertising.

And if I can't use any of my initial ideas here, I can always use them and ask for help later.

jellykans A shopping bag. One of those fiber bags with the store's name, so you are paying them for their advertising. Ooh! I kinda like that! Simple with plenty of wiggle room for whatever kinda plot we want to do! That's one possible suggestion! blaugh I_Write_Ivre And if I can't use any of my initial ideas here, I can always use them and ask for help later. Yes! Of course, any of your ideas can have their time here. If one of your initial ideas doesn't get picked up for a collab or collection right away, I am certain we will come around to them! If you wanted, you could start listing off some of your ideas for a collaborative piece! Since it seems you have a bit more thought put behind your ideas, it might enable us to hop on your story and start writing as soon as possible! It's up to you though! biggrin Are there any other suggestions for our them or protests to Jeelykans suggestion? If not, we can set the limit (three pages?) and get to it! Of course any writing here must follow the ToS, but let's just try to keep the content closer to all ages or PG for now. PG-13 stuff may be required for heavier topics.
