Sally smiled and, again, would have blushed with a blood supply, but moved closer to nuzzle his cheek before sidling off again. ~My mouth does not move to speak, Alfred.~ She smiled. ~But... I am not asking for more. I am plenty happy with your company. Perhaps... You could... Teach me of the flowers and vegetables? I've never had much reason to learn them apart from one another.~

The corners of Alfred's eyes crinkled in amusement. "That may be true, Miss Sally, but I imagine it would be difficult to communicate with me if you were far away." At her hesitant suggestion, he dipped his head. "I would be delighted. And if he were to show any interest in such things, I believe I could teach your rambunctious friend something about them as well. ... Besides how they look when smashed."

Sally took to realizing quite briefly that she still didn't have much reason to learn their differences. Food was inedible for her and she didn't need air to breathe, so their only point was what was above ground... But it gave the two something to talk about together, and she wanted to prolong what time she had with the stallion.

Alfred led Sally through the gardens, pointing out different flowers and vegetables to talk about them. Unlike his hooves and tongue, his mind began to wander, however. Memories of children giggling as they hid between the rose-filled hedges, mothers chuckling from the porch and maids pulling weeds from the vegetable beds. How quiet the mansion had become without them. How long it had been since anyone had occupied it besides him?

Sally hummed, eager to learn about the flowers and plants. She watched the stallion occasionally, letting her mind wander a bit now and again. It was so nice to have someone to talk to, but... what had changed that other Azrein were willing to talk to her lately? She smiled, though, each time, and happily watched him, letting the thoughts fade away and basking in the day's lack of loneliness.
Sally smiled sideways, listening to more talk of plants. ~Maybe I should stay.~ She hummed, smiling up at him. ~Longer than just a lesson in colors and vegetables I can't eat... You seem as lonely as I am... Perhaps... A cure for both of us can be found, hmm?~

Alfred smiled and dipped his head. "If you wish. I am not one to turn away good company." Inspecting her, he added, "Perhaps you should inform your lively friend first. I imagine he would be quite upset if you disappeared."

Sally chuckled. ~Alfred, my friend... I'm the foalsitter, not a valley resident. If his parents need me, they will come find me.~ She thought a moment. ~At which point, I would be more worried about your flowers than their purpose...~

Alfred nodded. "If you say so." Though that might not keep her friend from being upset. He chuckled at her comment. "This mansion used to be home to both human and Azrien children; I'm sure that between the two of us, we can keep one stallion from turning the garden into a warzone."

Sally chuckled. ~As long as he doesn't sprout wings, I'll be happy to color myself so hopeful.~ She smiled up at him. ~In the meantime... Let's just walk a bit more, hmm?~

"Wings would cause a bit of difficulty in preserving the greenery." Alfred smiled and dipped his head politely to her request. "As you wish, Miss Sally."

Sally hid the soft shudder of dread crawling over her spine at the thought of that colt with wings. ~Your garden is quite lovely.~ She smiled, and walked with him. She occasionally stopped to nose a flower and ask it's identity as she grew used to colors and intent on having a better idea of what the small number of others were talking about when they spoke of flowers or tones. She even caught herself daydreaming about sitting on a hill with the stallion to watch the flowers through the morning, day, evening, and night, just to see how they adjusted to the position of the sun.
At that thought, she decided she was curious what color the sun was and glanced up to find it. The light didn't hurt, but it seemed as monochromatic to her as always, except for being faceted in a blue sky.
