When they finally arrived at the restaurant in question Mitsu didn't know it from any other place on the strip. It looked normal enough though Mitsu wasn't exactly familiar with the type of noodles Shiro had in mind. On occasion Mitsu had tried ramen but she was pretty sure this was nothing like the packaged stuff she could get at the store for a silver seed.

Following the others in, Mitsu took a seat and looked at the menu offered. They had quite an assortment but she really wasn't sure what to get. Instead she mainly picked at the corner of the plastic menu that had been worn from time and abuse, her crimson gaze lifting to settle on the older man. What was it that he wanted to talk about?

Shun hadn't bothered looking at the menu, since he already had an idea of what he wanted. After casting a glance at his lycan, he let out a sigh and turned his attention to Shiro.

"What was it you wanted to say?"

The other reaper looked up from the menu and heaved a sigh.

"As you know, I've worked for your father for a long time. He.. wasn't always the man that he is today. Things had changed drastically after the loss of your mother," he started. The last few words had caught Shun's attention, though he narrowed his eyes, not certain where Shiro was going with that.

"And what's the reason for telling me this?" he asked warily. Rarely did he ever hear anything regarding his mother. And quite frankly, it didn't matter that much to him if Kaitou was once different. This was the man he had always known personally.

"Because things are slowly getting worse as time goes by. I'm getting older and more weary of the way things are here," Shiro said while rubbing his forehead, "The business was never completely pleasant, given what it is. There's always limits though...You saw how your father just completely disregarded some of his men for having been caught. I feel it could use a little more... compassion I guess you could say. "

With her eyes set on the older man across the table Mitsu listened carefully as he went over what was on his mind. She was curious why Shiro had brought up the past as well since things were obviously not going to be like that again with Kaitou around. Mitsu didn't know much about the man but she could guess that compassion was a word long since scratched out of his vocabulary.

Regarding the man across the table with a wary glance Mitsu could feel a different sense of unease settled over her. It was when Shiro finally quieted that Mitsu finally spoke up. "So...what is it that you want Shun to do about it?" Obviously he wanted something otherwise he would not have bothered to bring them here to talk.

Shun was wondering very much the same thing as Mitsu, but she had beaten him to the question. The other reaper was trying to get at something here, but he wasn't entirely certain what it was.

"I doubt Kaitou will be able to change. Things have been going in a downward spiral. The loss of your mother had turned him into an incredibly bitter and spiteful man," Shiro said before letting out a sigh, looking over the two, "But.. given that you are his son, he has given a chance for you to work towards taking over one day. It's.. possible you could change things for the better. If this path keeps continuing, the Family would likely crumble in on itself. We'd be no better than some petty gang of street thugs."

This caused Shun to raise an eyebrow.

"Why have you never mentioned anything like this before?"

It was a legit question. He knew Shiro for quite some time, and yet he never spoke anything of this sort of thing.

"To be honest, with the way you were raised I thought you wouldn't end up much different from your father. But... I can see here that isn't the case," he said quietly in turn, motioning towards Mitsu, "You don't completely turn away close bonds out of fear you'll be hurt in turn."

It wasn't a bad thing to hope for, Mitsu could see this man wanted things to change and for the better but this place had a cloud of negativity hanging over it that Mitsu couldn't shake. That had her main concern did not revolve around a group of random strangers. At one point in time she probably would have been more caring but she had to look out for those closest to her.

"And what will become of Shun in the process?" It was a vague question but there were a broad scope of answers she was looking for. How he would be treated, how would this place change him, and what kind of risks would he face beyond what he faced already. Halloween wasn't exactly a safe place and this was just another way to dangle their lives in front of the fates and say play with me, I dare you.

Shiro looked between the two for a moment, but then his gaze fell upon Shun more directly.

"That would really depend on you. If.. this is a path you would be willing to pursue, I would be willing to aid you however I can. Regardless of how your father may treat you, I feel that you would be able to have better luck with getting others behind you as well. Maybe not everyone but.. I know I'm not the only one to feel this way. It won't be an easy path... but the right way is rarely easier," the older reaper explained. He paused as a waitress came on by to take their order.

"Ah.. I'll take some tempura udon," he smiled.

Shun took that in, thinking about the man's words. He furrowed his brow at the last set, recalling Lizzy saying something very similar. He didn't say anything in response just yet, as they needed to order food first.

"... lil oink ramen," he said quietly, then looked towards Mitsu.

The man really didn't give her any answers but then again there was no guarantee how anything would turn out. Would Shun really be helping or would he simply be sucked into this world and end up just like his father? Sure Shiro said it was after Shun's mother passed away that Kaitou had changed but was it really because of his mother or was it because of the business?

When the waitress arrived to take their orders Mitsu sat as quietly as she had been and simply slid the menu toward the woman without ordering a thing. She didn't want food right now. With so many thoughts going on in her mind at once it was disorienting and was on the verge of making her sick.

Shun frowned when he saw Mitsu shove away the menu. With a sigh, he just shifted his gaze to the table for a moment, while the waitress went on to collect the menus and go to put in their orders. There were still a few questions in his mind.

"I doubt a business like this could be changed completely," he said quietly.

"No, but like I said.. there are still limits. Things often take a much darker turn than they need to be."

Thinking things over some more, he found himself wondering about one other thing.

"What happened to her anyway? ...My mother that is. No one would tell me anything before. But you seem to know something," he asked. Now seemed like as good of a time as any. He had suspected that his father had done something, but that might not be the case.

"One of Kaitou's enemies had gone after her. Ayumi didn't come back after that. And well.. it was because of that that he's taken this sort of philosophy," Shiro admitted, but he seemed a little uneasy about it. The boss had been adamant about no one speaking of it, but the boy was old enough now that he should know more, he figured, "something had snapped within that man that day..."

Shun fell silent again at this. It was... strange hearing about this sort of thing. That would suggest that his old man had cared for his mother after all. The idea of him caring about anyone was a rather foreign concept.

"Anyway... I want you to consider what I've told you."

Through it all Mitsu didn't know what she thought anymore. Her mind was a war of different opinions. It was good to help but they would be sticking their necks out, more importantly Shun would be risking himself. Things could change for the better but they could also change for the worse.

As she continued to try to listen while Shun and Shiro waited for their food a name caught her attention. The name of Shun's mother. "A..Ayumi?" Her head tilting up she looked between Shun and Shiro. Hadn't that been the name of the lady they had met at the Shizukesa Temple area? "Is..Ayumi a popular name?"

Hearing Mitsu speak up, Shun turned and looked towards her. It didn't take him long to see what she was getting at. They knew an Ayumi, after all.

"It's... somewhat uncommon," he replied. He furrowed his brow, thinking about it. The woman was a ghost and had been for about seventeen years.

...

It was likely a coincidence.

Shiro looked to the two with curiosity, but he had quieted down for now.

"It is?" Mitsu fell silent then, her mind wandering back to the Ayumi they had met. She was a sweet caring lady, very much like a mother, a ghost with no past memories of her previous life. The woman had seemed somewhat familiar to her and Mitsu was starting to wonder if....

She did not voice her thoughts but looked to Shiro again wondering if there would be a way to find out. Surely Kaitou would still have pictures somewhere of his former wife? Or would he have gotten rid of them all to forget his pain? Either way for now Mitsu didn't say a word. It was likely an upsetting topic, it would have been for her.

While he waited, Shiro noticed that Mitsu was looking towards him.

"Hm?" he voiced. It looked like she had some sort of question on her mind.

"Yeah. It's.. a nice name though," Shun said quietly before falling silent as well. Before too long, at least, two bowls of noodles had come. At the sight of them, Shiro grinned and got his chopsticks ready before digging in.

The younger reaper was a little more slow as he did so, but he soon began to eat as well. It was just as good as he last remembered.

"..Would you like some?" he offered to Mitsu.

Even if Shiro seemed to notice she had a question Mitsu still didn't voice it. Perhaps it would be better for Shun to explore the topic on his own. Forcing it would likely not sit well but she was curious to know for herself. Could it be possible out of all the ghosts they could have met...did they actually meet his mother or was it just a giant coincidence?

"Yes...I like that name too." Mitsu said softly.

Food came shortly after and Mitsu watched as Shiro dug in, her eyes lingering on the dish he had ordered for a moment before she turned to Shun at his offer. "No..thank you."

Rubbing at her arm slightly the lycan looked back toward the door wondering if she could step out for a bit to get some air and think on her own.

Shun watched Mitsu as she declined. Silently, he regarded her for some time, then turned to continue to eat, slowly.

"..Sorry.."

He didn't know what it was exactly, but he could tell that something was bothering her. It worried him too. He was having some trouble figuring out what path he should be taking right now. The reaper felt oddly compelled to stay in this line of business, though he was sure she didn't exactly approve of that. But... the thing Shiro spoke about.. it was almost a sort of compromise perhaps.

Even so..

Hearing Shun Mitsu turned back toward him her eyes looking apologetic. She was making it hard on him very likely. Without her here he probably would have just jump back on the family bandwagon without much thought but because of her hesitance...

Opening her mouth Mitsu was about to give Shun some since of reassurance that she was fine but something inside her made those words stop. Could she really tell him it was okay and that she was fine? Was she fine? She didn't feel fine. In fact, if there was a pillow nearby she would probably scream into it until she lost her voice but for now she sought out other alternatives.

"I'm....going to step outside for a bit." She whispered softly into his ear, pressing a kiss to his cheek before she rose from the table and headed for the door.
