Background: Meadow is from a small pack. She is the Alpha’s daughter and only child. Meadow wasn’t always the only child. She had an older brother that was supposed to take over the Alpha position, but was killed when rouges attacked their pack. Now with Meadow being the only child the Alpha and Luna have left, she is of age to take over the pack, but there is one problem. Meadow has to find her mate. Meadow being a stubborn child doesn’t want to take over the pack or cares to find her mate. She doesn’t even like being a shifter, but deep down Meadow knows she has to take care of her pack. So with that on her mind, she has set out on a quest to find her mate.

By now the sibling pair were wandering around town. Despite the warnings the pair were curious about their new surroundings. Correction, Leila was curious. Her brother, Kieran went as usual to ensure the safety of his older sister.

The two were extremely close, they had no secrets from one another. They had actually never really had a secret anyway. Their clan of modern day gypsies were all extremely honest and open with one another. They were like one big hippie commune.

Everyone chipped in to do their part, they all looked out for one another, and the young were all taught the value or hard work and were respectful. The pair had never really received a formal education as children because they were always moving from place to place with their clan, though all the children in their clan could do the basics. Read, write, basic maths, and they all had practical life skills as well. They could all cook, hunt, fish, fix various sorts of machinery and sew. They all could tend to the food they grew, and no one in their clan ever went without.

Kieran loved and missed their clan. Leila loved and missed them as well, but she wanted a place she fit in as well. Ever since the clan had discovered that the sibling pair were Shifters they seemed much more cautious of the pair. Frightened even, and Leila hated it.

One male she had grown close to, and had confessed his intentions of officially courting her soon decided to end their relationship altogether. He avoided her and had begun to officially court someone else. She had been so hurt and betrayed, her Wolf insisted it was for the best but Leila did not feel like it was.

Kieran was younger, and still not really interested in courting anyone. He was happy being single and free to live his life. Sure he found several girls appealing in their clan but none of them held his interest very long. Once his Wolf had surfaced it had been even harder to find a female. His Wolf wanted nothing to do with any of those females. He told Kieran that none of those females would be a suitable mate. His Life Mate was out there, and she is the only one he would accept.

Very troubling for Kieran. His Wolf wanted to establish his own pack, find his Mate, and provide a good strong bloodline. All the opposite of what Kieran wanted. He just wanted to live his life, and see the world, eventually one day, no time soon he hoped to find a partner. He had never even considered children until his Wolf mentioned Offspring.
"Kieran....? Are you listening?" Leila asked and finally he realized his sister had been speaking to him.
"Erm....no. Sorry." She frowned but took his arm.
"It's okay....you look deep in thought."
"I am. I am wondering what happens if you find a Mate here, among this pack and they don't want another Alpha here?"
"I leave with you. If your not welcome, neither am I."
"Will She allow you to walk away? To leave your Life Mate?"
"My Life Mate will have to understand. You are my Pack. We are a packaged deal."
"If your Life Mate is aware your his Life Mate, his Wolf will force him to act. His Wolf will not let you walk away. He may act on whatever his Wolf deems is necessary to keep his Life Mate."
"She does NOT control me. She will NOT control me. Life Mate or not, if you are not accepted I am going with you."
"Leila...I want to go back to our clan. You don't want too. if you truly are sure about wanting a pack..."
"That is a problem for another day!" She quickly cut her brother off.

She knew it was a very real possibility that their lives would each take totally separate paths. She had lived in fear of that from the moment her Wolf emerged talking about Packs, Life Mates and Pups. She had always embraced her gypsy life. Her Clan had been the one thing she had known would always be there for her.

The siblings glanced at one another once Meadow appeared and invited them to the Pack's main hose. The Alpha and Beta traditionally lived together with their families. It was to ensure the two males always were in contact.

They had to act as a single unit for the good of the Pack. If anything were to happen to the Alpha, the Beta would take over. He had to know everything that was going on. He had to take over and know exactly what was going on.

Leila looked Meadow over. She wasn't sure what to think. She looked at her Brother and could see he was fighting his Wolf suddenly. She did not understand why. She stepped between Meadow and Kieran.
"Uh....maybe later." She offered but Kieran pushed her aside. He stepped closer to Meadow and inhaled.

It was clear the Wolf was running the show now. He was interested in this Female it seemed. Or at least curious about her. Leila let her Wolf take the reigns and realized why immediately. Her scent...she was a Female Alpha. One he was not related to, and one his Wolf seemed interested in.
"Kieran...?" Leila questioned and found he was circling Meadow.

Leila slowly slipped her arm through her brother's. She gently tried to pull him away. The growl that radiated through him made Leila whimper. Her Wolf was now fearful and taking over. Her Wolf whimpered and trembled. Kieran stepped closer to Meadow and his growl was quieter.

Suddenly he turned way and took off running. Kieran was in charge again. He had wrestled away control from his Wolf and was trying to distance himself from this new Female. His Wolf was losing his damn mind around her. He wanted to claim her as his Mate. To let all the other males know that she was his Mate.

Wolf Leila watched as Kieran ran. Her Wolf told her to follow her Alpha. She was running after him. Fighting the urge to Shift so that she was her Wolf and could therefore run so much faster then her clumsy Human side.
"Kieran!" She yelled after him and lost sight of him as he disappeared in the woods.
"Damnit!" She yelled in frustration. What if he encounter another male?

Leila was angry with the young woman but could understand. She had wanted the same with the Human boy not that long ago. Now she didn't because her Wolf explained to her that he was not her Mate. He was not meant for her, and she was not meant for him

She looked back at Meadow, and then back toward the woods. "Kieran doesn't want a Mate. He wants to be completely Human. He and his Wolf..." How could she explain that they were at war? That they were not One. It wasn't suppose to be that way. They were suppose to live in harmony, but he brother's denial and rejection of his heritage was destroying the relationship that should be growing between them. There was no trust or respect between them. Just the constant power struggle.

Leila knew she had to go find her brother. Now more then ever she had to help him understand. Help him to accept who and what he was. There was no reason to be ashamed of what they were.

Leila slowly joined the pair. She laid beside her brother. He stared down at her and then lifted one massive paw and laid it on her. She let out a little whine and he nipped her neck. He lifted his paw and she stared up at him.

Next thing he knew she was growling and launching herself at him. It was playful and his Wolf realized it. It helped to soothe his Wolf. He wrestled with his sister. She rolled and pounced, and eventually darted away.

Leaving his Wolf in better spirits and his mind no longer on his Mate dilemma. Wolf Leila headed back to where her clothes laid stashed under a bush. The girl changed back and hurriedly pulled on her clothing. She went back into the town, hoping to find the twins. She wanted to speak with them about what had transpired today.

"Yeah, my brother and I are born here. Our grandfather raised us. We never knew our real parents. You see, they died in a house fire a few blocks from here trying to protect us," Allison replied a bit solemnly. Once they were in the dining room they had their breakfast and their two guests wanted to explore the town. Keagan agreed not quite ready to teach them just yet. Having a feel of the town would at least ease their tension.
As the two left, Keagan and Allison left for their patrol. To keep their community safe, they have shape shifters from each clan taking shifts. "Try not to play hero this time K," Allison told her brother before they split and went on their separate routes. Keagan laughed and shook his head as he took off towards the trees and mountain. He quickly shifted into his Wolf form. He couldn’t quite ignore his instincts to help others whether they are human or shifters. It was both his strength and weakness.

Allison headed for town as it was her turn this time. She couldn’t shift in town as it would scare off the humans prompting them to call for the hunters. It does get difficult to figure out which of the humans are hunters. Their scent usually gives off their intentions, problem is, you’ll have to be really close to pick it up. She walked around town helping anyone that she came upon while on patrol.
