"Yeah... yeah...," Rin idly agreed before trying to draw the attention back to Rep's condition, "It's been days though and he wont bathe or even change his clothes... I only just managed to get him to take food." She talked about Rep almost as if he were her ailing pet dog.

Melvin wasn't the type to touch people unless directed by the other techs to do small readings like changing a IV bag, checking a machine, or changing bandages. He wasn't high ranking enough or respected enough just yet to be allowed the larger duties. In this case, Harrison was free from any contact from Melvin, who really wasn't all for it to begin with. Instead, Melvin did what he always did when no techs were looking around. He checked the clipboard.
Looking it over as Rin directed his attention on Rep, the reason he was called, Melvin read when Harrison was admitted. "It's been over a week." He said, setting the clipboard back at the hook at the base of the bed. "You haven't showered in a week?" He looked at Rep, and it certainly looked that way. "Why?"

"Because I'm not leaving him." Rep grimly reiterated, the defence no stronger the fifteenth time than the first time. "It's not like it's hurting anyone. I've gone way longer without a bath." Of course he hadn't been so close to various people on those occaisions, nor had his hair been quite so long.
He amended a little more weakly. "And we normally like.." he didn't really want to admit Harrison usually washed his hair for him, he just hoped Melvin would remember from the shower shenanigans with the insanity octopus.
"I'd feel the gap if he wasn't there."

Rin smiled at the magic word, the 'why'. But stayed back to watch how Melvin works his magic. Waiting for the right moment to join in the attack.

Melvin just looked at him. He could understand to some degree why Rep was doing this, but that in no way gave him sympathy. Crossing his arms, he looked at Rin and then at Rep again. "You don't want to leave his side so you're going to kill yourself in the process. That's exactly what Harrison would like - a man who's a moon hunter and his very profession is taking care of others to make sure they are healthy. How about how he'll feel when he wakes up to see you a husk of sickness beside him? He'd wake up and work himself into all kinds of worry and just get just as sick when he's trying to recover. That's sure to help him out when he wakes up." Melvin was making sure to always say "when he woke up" to keep from having Rep go off on him.
"You know that gap you say you will feel with taking a 10 minute shower is going to feel a LOT worse when the Life doctors get sick of you reeking up a patient's room, a Moon hunter they respect, and kick you out. Then how much of a gap will you feel in comparison to that tiny little break that - what?" Melvin took a few steps to the bathroom door. " - was only about 9 steps from your seat?"
He crossed his arms again as he leaned on the bathroom door frame. "Take a shower. Harrison will be fine with 2 Life techs here in his room."

Rep just stared grimly at Melvin. He'd gotten away with his determined unreasonable self pity for eight days, eight whole days. And then he had to come and trample on it with his logic. The idea that his condition might worry Harrison was mildly upsetting but not entirely enough to put him off of his hygiene strike, what finally pushed him from not fussed to anxious was the additional comment that he might be told to leave. He hadn't actually considered that his state might be considered a detriment to Harrison or his care and the realisation made panic take hold of him. He couldn't bear the idea of being removed at this point, sent who the ******** knew where to worry and chew himself to shreds with paranoia. Melvin, as ******** always, had a point and it seemed like his pity party was over.
Still, he worried about Harrison deeply, and the idea of a lone shower was like sliding back to how things had been before, one step towards forgetting. He fished out B0nez from his pocket and placed him in Harrison's unresisting hand. "I'll be back in a minute Ace." he said as if he was speaking to Harrison on any other day.
"Fine if it's so ******** important." he said, surprised how many of his muscles outright ached when he stood. He jabbed a finger in Harrison's direction "But keep a ******** eye on him, if anything changes, if there's any ******** blue glows or so much as a TWITCH I want to know about it. And I'm leaving the door open, there's a shower curtain anyway."
Without waiting for anyone to protest this, and keen to only be away as short a time as possible, he edged into the bathroom for what would be most likely the swiftest shower of his life. A whole five minutes later he stepped out again and wrapped a towel around his waist. He'd hardly touched his hair, but at least more critical things had been dealt with. He peeked around the doorframe as if checking Harrison was still there, which obviously, he was.
"Everything still awright?"
