Victor Balston

Seeing as the guests started to converse amongst themselves Victor took the liberty of shutting the carriage door before climbing up to the driver seat. He wasn’t looking forward to keep watch on for the search of the two other guests but life’s a b***h and then you die. Victor chuckled at that thought, He wasn’t dying anytime soon. Being alive for over four hundred years made that very clear and he knew it could be centuries more until he bit the dust. Doing a quick movement with the reins to get the horses moving again, Victor started towards the mighty Damon Manor.

Ethir Mistiel

The carriage door closed, snapping Ethir out of her thoughts. Turning from the window, she directed her attention to the three other guests in the carriage. Vi had said something about it being fate or chance that brought them together. It took conscious effort for her not to laugh at either notion, but a small grin formed on her lips nonetheless. "Personally, Sir Vi, I don't put much faith in either," she said, allowing the grin to spread into a small but genuine smile. It was a rare treat for her, telling the truth. Living as a noble had shown her that all things worked into someone's plans in one way or another, and she spent a considerable amount of time trying to discern such things. Of course, that meant that she was constantly forming schemes of her own to account for those around her. It had become a bit of an obsession, the need to stay a step ahead of any and all opposition. That was why she was wary of Vi. The nobleman was well versed in the trade of subversion that was so common among the upper class, and his experience on the social scene meant that he was better i such situations than she was. Illusion magic would not help her much when it came to dealing intimately with people.

When the other woman touched on the subject of their names, Ethir answered just as formally as she had when introducing herself to the two men.
"I am Ethir Mistiel, of the Mistiel family. It is a pleasure to meet you," she said with a small nod. There was absolutely no way she would shake hands with her, but not because of any petty notions of class or nobility. She simply wouldn't trust a stranger. "I don't seem to have caught your name, either." It seemed that some idle talk was going to take place, and Ethir mentally busied herself with anticipating what kinds of topics would be brought up and formulating responses to each of the myriad possibilities. To her, it was like playing chess, but with many more players. It wouldn't do to slip up so early in the game.

Terra

Terra leaned back, taking a more relaxed demeanor. The carriage was actually quite comfortable and though she didn't trust these strangers, there was no reason to show it. "Nice to meet you lady Mistiel" she said, tilting her head to a slight bow as she did so to show that she knew of the rank that name carried. Ethir then addressed her on her own name "Terra" is all she said. She didn't really have a last name, demons tended not to care for them and she didn't want to go through the trouble of remembering a fake last name. She'd let the guests wonder why she wouldn't tell them, she didn't really care.

Terra looked to Vi, having heard Ethir say his name "And i'm guessing you are lord Vi Tsu'vell" having heard him say his family name earlier and also giving him a small bow of respect. "That just leaves you" she stated, looking at Vilith

Vi(ara) Tsu'vell ~~~~ Noble Ambassador

"The shadows are not an enemy to be feared....

Vi returned Ethir's smile in full, having the odd feeling he had just been made privy to something special. "words to live by. After all why discredit your own hard work by chalking your accomplishments up to fate or luck?" he said, whole heartedly agreeing with her. After all as an assassin, thief, and spy it was preferable to set everything up in your favor yourself then pray that some invisible force happens to smile on you that day. When Terra and Ethir exchanged names he made sure to remember the blonde woman's. It was odd she didn't give her last name, though knowing full well what red eyes meant he simply assumed she was one of the demons who didn't realize how to integrate themselves into society. Why they clung to their ways and made themselves stand out always perplexed those of the Tsu'vell clan. Simply inventing a new name and claiming their demonic traits where normal for "dark elves" had allowed them incredible freedom over the past few decades, while the other races who where touched by darkness where forced to hide and make excuses everywhere they went. "well if I held myself back simply because we aren't familiar with one another then how my dear would I ever get to know you? I'd rather risk offending you than simply sitting back and saying nothing my sweet" he said with a wink. When she adressed him as Lord Vi Tsu'vell he did something even more daring and brought his hand to her cheek, gently caressing it under her chin and turning her face towards his. " 'lord Vi Tsu'vell'...for some reason coming from those lips it has such a melodious ring to it" he said, softly brushing his thumb along her lips, giving her a small wink.

_______________________
Vilith seated himself at the far end of the carriage at the opposite side of the women. He did not join the conversation between the woman and Vi, much preferring to stay quiet in his own world. That did not mean that he wasn't paying attention.
Folding his hands in his lap, he looked out the second window on his side of the carriage. Although it was a sight he much didn't want to look at, it was better than visiting the present world of chivalry and vulnerability.
Outside the carriage, everything suddenly became dark and ominous. A pall of darkness enveloped the carriage like the fresh meat of a carcass disappearing into the throat of a beast. Like the vapor from the mouth of a creature came a mist birthed from the blackness. Every creature inside seemed to be effected by the infectious mist; the trees; the squirrels; the owls; everything. Their eyes looked out at him from the blackness that lurked at the borders of the dirt road. A road that moved steadily upwards.
Vilith was gazing deep into the darkness, almost unwillingly. He could see past the trees, over the rocks, unbidden, to the heart. The carriage was farther behind him! But he couldn't look away! A sweat drop formed on his brow as he was drawn in. It's sense of evil pressed upon him, sucking his breathe away. He could almost see two malevolent eyes staring at him. He couldn't tell if they were red or yellow.
A voice snapped him back to reality. Blinking, he turned his head to Terra. The carriage walls were around him, the floor jostling underneath him at every bump in the road. Although he didn't feel the press of evil anymore, he could feel it right outside the road. Watching. Waiting.

"Oh, uh. It's Vil', ma'am." Vilith said with a slight nod of his head in her direction.
The darkness loomed in the shadows outside the road, outside the light admitted by the candle to help light the way for the horses. It's black eyes also watched the passengers with a hungry eye, pressing close to the weak ones and whispering seductively. Turning it's gaze partially--just enough--it was able to peer cryptically at Victor easily.

Terra

Terra shrugged in a way that said Vi had a point as he spoke of getting to know her. Terra was then surprised as Vi caressed her face, turning her head to face him as he openly courted her. She had to admit, this guy had some balls. She knew as being touched by darkness as well as a Tsu'vell, he knew what she was. Rather he was bold enough to still do this. Brushing his hand along her lips and winking. Terra didn't move away. She gave him a confident, sly grin. She gently took his hand still looking him in the eye "I'm sure this is how you court in many fine ladies" she pulled his hand away from her face, the confident grin still on her face "But I require a bit more work than most women" she said with a sly wink of her own. It was a nice change, playing nice. She then turned to Vilith "A pleasure to meet you Vil" she said with a smile though she couldn't help but see how distraught Vil looked. He was focused on something outside, she glanced out the window, attempting to see what he saw. But only watched as the night shrouded trees passed by the carriage

Ethir Mistiel

She eyed Terra and Vi suspiciously, watching their every move. The two of them were hiding some shared secret, but Ethir was unsure of what that was. She dreaded that it had something to do with the sense of darkness that surrounded the two of them, denying the thought even though it was terribly likely. She knew it was foolish, but a small part of her had really hoped that the visit to Damon Manor would be peaceful. Instead, it seemed to her that she was destined to struggle with the Darkness wherever she went. Glancing over at Vilith, she saw the look of terror on his face as he stared out the window. He barely looked away to respond when Terra asked for his name, as though he'd been entranced by something outside. Looking out her own window, she understood why. It was dark. Terribly, unnaturally dark. Ethir gritted her teeth as she experienced the familiar feeling of being watched from the shadows of the woods, clenching her fists so hard that her nails almost dug into her palm. This time, however, it was different. The shifting shadows were not far off in the distance like they had been at her home. She could feel it, waiting just outside the flickering light of the candle that guided them. It called to her as it always had, urging her to accept the darkness, but she refused adamantly just like every time before.

Tearing her gaze from the window, she did her best to ignore it's presence. Ethir had made a promise long ago. To herself, and to to her family. A promise to protect. A promise to stand and fight, even if it meant she would stand alone. Lost in these thoughts, she stared with eyes unseeing off into the middle distance. For just a moment, she didn't care about looking suspicious or being discreet. She just hoped it wouldn't come back to bite her later.

Victor Balston

Victor was quite relaxed, not to mention enjoying the ride back as he made sure the horses stayed on the bumpy trail. He heard slight conversations from the carriage he was leading back to the Damon Manor but had no intentions of eavesdropping; worried about more important things like when will he get his next meal and how not to look suspicious doing it. More people around meant he had to hide in plain sight more than ever, something he wasn’t looking forward to after all these years of having what he liked to call a bit of freedom. Letting out a sigh of desperation due to his predicament Victor started to focus on the trail ahead but soon started to notice that something was out there, other than them. Letting a sly smile escape his lips he knew very well on what it was, the darkness. At times Victor felt like it was a part of him, he was not afraid of it nor concern but feeling it come closer made him laugh slightly.”Now now, we wouldn’t want to scare the guests away now do we?” He said under his breath, a bit cautious that one of the guest might of heard him if he spoke any louder.

Vi(ara) Tsu'vell ~~~~ Noble Ambassador

"The shadows are not an enemy to be feared....

Vi gave out a small chuckle as the woman pulled his hand from her face, not at all deterred by the defiant action. "my laying down a challenge are we? Fine with me my dear. After all the harder the toils the sweeter the spoils." He said, looking her up and down once more. He had 6 months to court her and any of the other fine women residing in the manner, and the spoils definitely looked to be sweet indeed, so it was a challenge he was more than willing to accept. He glanced over at Vilith who seemed to be frightened by something outside, raising a brow he looked over to Ethir who too was seemingly caught in a trance as she watched out the window. He leaned over a bit and peered out the window over her shoulder and saw the amassing darkness around them. This unnatural darkness was no harder for his eyes to see through than a regular starless night, but he could easily sense the malice in it, though it did not deter him. "my you two seem to be enjoying the scenery tonight hmm?" he said with a quaint laugh, feigning ignorance and pretending he didn't know anything was out there. He turned back to Terra and laid a hand on her lap. "though myself I prefer the more....immediate...view before me" he whispered so only she could hear. Not about to give up on his flirting.

Terra

Terra smirked as Vi spoke of 'sweeter spoils' Before he referred to the two looking out the window. He seemed to not have a problem with the darkness either. Though she didn't see the big deal with it. She'd grown up in that darkness, it was no different to her than the changing of day to night. She felt a hand land on her lap, looking to find it was Vi's as he whispered in her ear, still flirting. Well he sure didn't give up she whispered back "I'm sure the scenery has a much more drawing presence than I. Why don't we try to enjoy it" she said looking to the window with a small smile to watch the trees go by, trying her best to ignore Vi. Thinking that she shouldn't be as sarcastic as she usually would with a Tsu'vell

Vilith barely heard Terra's response. His thought were on those pair of eyes he saw in the heart of the darkness out there. The eyes he couldn't identify as red or yellow. Suddenly, a chill wracked his body as the name reached his brain. Darkness. Was that truly it? Vilith had been educated on the Darkness and what it did four hundred years ago, but some part of him didn't believe something so impure could exist in a pure world such as his. Now he knew that was ignorant of him. The question was though, was that a powerful demon, or the true Darkness that vanished.
As those thoughts pressed around his brain, the rest of the time to the mansion blurred.

The mansion quickly appeared through the thicket of trees. It was as if the darkness pressing around them sped up their ascent to the mansion. With walls of blackness and windows let up with torches, it was imposing, but eerie, sight. At the presence of the big gates guarding the courtyard, a chill wind swept around, and passed the coach from behind. It moved onto the mansion, and then was gone.

At the gates of Damon Manor stood Azubuike staring down the mountain pass, awaiting the guests arrival. He'd been standing there at the gates anticipating Victers return ever since he left the mansion. Azubuike's patience was growing thinner and thinner the longer it took for Victer to turn up. Through the shadowy fog that covered the pathway up to the mansion, Azubuike now could finally see the figure of the carriage on its way up the path. A slight smile crept its way up his cheek. "Finally they are arriving." Azubuike thought to himself as he began turning around, he then walked up the grassy lawn up to the mansion doors. Opening one of the double doors just enough to peek his head through, He turned his head to the right at Logan. "The guests will be hear shortly sir." Azubuike stated. He waited a moment for Logans reply before heading back to the gate.

Ethir Mistiel

Ethir remained silent most of the trip, trying to ignore the Darkness as it clawed at the back of her mind. She found it ironic that it took so much concentration not to focus on it. Vi had continued flirting with Terra, and Vilith had simply continued staring out the window, so she felt free to let her mind wander. Her thoughts went to her home and her family, so close to the Darkness and yet still out of it's grasp. She hoped it would remain that way at least until she got back, and much longer if it could be helped. Using it as a way to mentally combat the darkness, Ethir recalled fond memories of the peaceful days she'd spent there as a child, playing in the dappled sunlight of the forests. Taking a glance out the window, she could hardly believe the gloomy woods outside was composed of the same trees and earth as the one she'd been raised in. It was a dark and foreboding place, but Ethir was actually looking forward to spending some time there. To her, it was just another obstacle in the game, another enemy to be challenged and soundly defeated. With that thought, the mansion came into view ahead of them, a grand estate in the depths of the forest. Even she had to admit it was a lovely home, or at least it would've been in a different setting. "It seems we've almost arrived, and just in time, too. It's getting quite dark out," she said. It was true, though she knew it had little to do with the time. Taking the risk of another look out the window, she saw that it was indeed darker near the mansion. It was unsettling, to say the least, and Ethir was beginning to wonder if she would really enjoy her arrival.

"The shadows are not an enemy to be feared....

Vi smirked a bit at her response. "A woman should be aware of the extent of her beauty, lest she finds herself depreciating her true value" he whispered back. It was a sin to say that a dim forest came anywhere close to the beauty that sat beside him. Fair of skin, silken hair, and eyes like the most precious of garnets. Still not wanting to overstep his boundaries right away he gently slide his hand away from her lap. After all he had 6 months to win her heart, mind.....and body, so no need to put himself at a disadvantage early on by looking creepy or overly eager. His ears perked up a bit as Ethir noted they where nearing the mansion, and he leaned a bit closer to her in order to gaze out her window at the mansion. The sight of the estate brought a smile to his face. The dreary and imposing atmosphere phased him not, all he saw was a large, mansion shaped treasure box riff for the picking. The jewels and barbels inside were probably priceless, and the potential dark secrets the Damn family may have hidden within would be even more so. A haul like this might just get Viara promoted to shadow broker before her father even retired. What a treat that would be, replacing her father on her own terms instead of his. "my my, an estate to be proud of indeed" Vi commented. The Tsu'vell family, being considerably larger and widely spread, had estates just as large as this one, and just as many that where twice the size if not larger. However the fact that the Damon family was small and didn't happen to have their hands in the purses of every other major family made an estate like this still very impressive indeed.

Terra

Terra's lips curled to form a small smile as Vi commented on true value and beauty, but also withdrew his hand from her lap. A good decision by him. Terra noticed everybody glancing out the windows. She leaned forwards, looking into the calm, welcoming darkness that surrounded the estate before turning to glance at the actual building. "my my, an estate to be proud of indeed" Vi said, in no way exaggerating. Maybe Terra's stay here wouldn't be as boring as she had thought. She stretched a little bit, careful not to hit any of the other passengers as she readied to get out of the carriage, she hated being confined.
