A Strange Find
After she left the Oblivionite boy behind, Grrel wandered down along the coast, certain that she didn’t want to go back to the can right now. I’ll just go after I get stronger and actually succeed at the stupid Ritual, she thought grouchily. As she walked along the beach she spotted an Oblivionite boy carrying a large bag… which held a large round thing inside it. Eyes narrowing Grrel dashed into the air and flew after him. Her mind always thought the worse of the two leggers, and this one was acting suspiciously.
She flew above him the dived, her claws out to rake and kill. He heard her coming and dodged barely but her claws still gouged his back. She grinned as he cried out in pain and dropped the bag. She flipped over and dived again, but decided to grab the bag rather than chase him as he ran away. Opening it, she hissed in anger. A Khehora egg! That filthy thing had stolen it! She almost charged after him right then and there to kill the thief, but the egg had to be returned. Sliding the bag onto her back, she trotted back along his trail, hoping she’d find the parents of the egg well and alive.
As she crested a dune she saw two gaili khehora licking their wounds and trying to set their nest to rights. They looked up as she approached and Grrel waved a wing.
“I caught an Oblivionite boy carrying an egg, is it yours?”
The mother looked relieved. “Yes! We managed to keep most of the raiders away, but that one slipped behind us and ran off with it before we could stop him.” She gratefully took back the egg and paced it with the others.
“Thank you.” Her mate said gratefully. Grrel noticed that the bag still had two other things in it, about Dragon orb sized, she emptied the bag on to the ground to see what else was in it.
“No thanks needed, I did what any Khehora would do. Are... are these yours too?” She asked as the small orbs lay on the sand. They weren’t dragon orbs… and looked vaguely egg like. What were they?
Both of the gaili’s looked at it and then shrugged. “We do not know what those are, maybe he stole them from some other creatures’ nest?” The male said.
“Hmm, could be. I’ll hatch them to see what they are.” Grrel said and rolled them back into the bag before looking up. “You should relocate, my clan is near here if you wish to try and live with us. We’re about a day’s flight west of here.”

Later that night, after helping the Gaili’s get their eggs into a weird rocky carry case to keep them safe as they flew to her clan, Grrel wrapped herself around the odd eggs she’d found. What were they? Was the thought she went to sleep with.
That morning, the sound of crackling woke her up. She twitched as she felt the eggs shift and jumped. They were hatching! Excited, Grrel pulled back a bit, crooning encouraging as she would to a Khehroa egg. She was glad she’d gotten a kill last night and had saved some of the meat, whatever hatched was bound to be hungry! From one of the eggs a small black scaled snout poked through a hole. Grrel nudged the gg as it stopped moving, wanting to see what was in it. In response to her touch, it chirped and started to struggle again, until the crack widened and a small dragon emerged. Grrel blinked. It was tiny! And… definitely not a dragon. It had no front legs, instead the ‘arms’ were winged. It chirped and stumbled over to her, all awkward and clumsy on its feet. She crooned and nuzzled it before she began to lick off the remains of the gunk from the egg, cleaning it as it chirped and warbled happily. She liked the colors it had, deep brown gleaming scales with a fiery frill along its tail and ears matching the wings. After she cleaned it, she offered a piece of meat and turned to the other egg which was also starting to hatch. Soon she had a pearly white and ice blue frilled dragonling to join the dark one. Both of whom wanted nuzzled and food until they curled up against her and fell asleep; tired from hatching.
Grrel felt an odd squeeze on her heart. So cute! So adorable! Not quite the same as a clutch of her own, but still! She curled her tail around them; Kiola she decided would be the pale girl’s name and Worlen the dark males. I wonder how smart they are?
