Sophie listened intently to Red's explanation. Of course, she'd already decided what roll she was going to take on. She patted her first aid kit. Hopefully it would come in handy. Hopefully no one would die. It dawned on the ghoul that lives were resting in her hands. She had to keep everyone around her alive.. She swallowed hard. That.. that was a lot to take on and she wondered if perhaps she could back out. But, like every other time she'd had doubts, her eyes glanced over the familiar faces of her friends. If she helped one of them it was better than nothing. She wasn't strong enough to fight and she had terrible aim. No, this was definitely the right choice. She gave a nod of reassurance.

The young ghoul was proud of Belladonna for taking the role of a leader and had she been a little more outgoing and experienced, she might have offered herself up for leader of the medics. She stood and jumped down from the bleachers - rather child-like, almost skipping. At the bottom, she took hold of the clip board and signed her name in light scribly cursive, dotting the 'i' with a heart. She turned to those around her and was about to speak when she felt a flush of heat rush over her. She found the source just in time to see what appeared to be a rather ticked off ghoul punch Red right in the face.

Sophie didn't flinch or scream or jump away in fright. You could say she didn't react at all - that she kept her cool. At least you could say this if you didn't see the gobsmacked look on her eyes and the way her eyes widened to a size one might think impossible. Was she even allowed to do that? The ghoul waited for retaliation; yelling, a fight. But nothing came and they appeared to be in good spirits with each other - considering. She blinked and shook her head. She'd never understand this school and the things that went on in it; best not to start trying to now.

Attention back on her friends, she gave a look that asked 'what the hell' with a shrug of her shoulders before quickly changing the subject. "I'm going medic. What about you guys?"

She turned to Belladonna with a grin and gave a curt nod. "Captain."

Terra hesitated. She stared at the list--she looked at Roch. Then she took the pen and signed her name under infusers. When he realized what she had done, she was certain that she would get yelled at. But there were only two of them--and they were important, no?

Nio Love
Just the bottom XD

He had continued to sit in silence with Mort, mind wandering as it often did through countless scenarios, his curiosity at the meaning behind each role that was listed on the board mounting with each passing second. What did each one mean and where would he fit in? He supposed it was just best to hear from Red herself the specifics of what each job would entail, though Medic seemed the most obvious, and was the furthest in his mind from being the appropriate course for himself.

He was no healer, despite having taken Nurse Crickets class. Again he found himself wondering if he should have told Yin what was going on.

Belladonna's arrival had the zomboil sitting up a little, offering her an easy smile despite his nervousness, and a shrug at her joke as his grin widened. Robotic parts just weren't really his thing, though he glanced down to his right hand, at it's darkened by rot and slowly flaking skin. He could picture there perfectly a bone hand just like his own mother possessed, and he had to wonder at the benefits of infusing bone with steel, his eye trailing over towards Mort's mechanical hand and lingering.

And then back to silence. Sophie arrived and his pale eye shot towards her, the muscles of his jaw flexing as he gritted his teeth in disapproval. He did not approve of her being here. She was a first year, and this was likely beyond her range of ability. But then, if she didn't participate, how would she ever learn? How would she ever grow? He had been the very same when he had arrived at Amity, not ever letting a single opportunity to learn pass him by, no matter how dangerous the circumstances. He was in no position to judge, chastise, or otherwise hold her back. He would just have to keep a close eye on her, and try to make sure that they both came out of this safely.

"Ready as I ever am." He answered her with a small smile, and then waited some more, letting himself lapse into yet more silence.

Red began explaining the roles, and he listened with rapt attention. Each team was to have a captain, and he almost too quickly negated himself from offering up for that kind of position. He had found himself a leader too many times already, and it was never a comfortable position for him, nor one that he handled with ease. He was meant to follow, like a soldier. It was what he was good at.

With that decided, it was just a matter of what and where he thought he could be most useful. Healer was immediately discarded. His skills in that area were almost non existent. Infusers seemed interesting, and possibly a safer option then most. He knew it was the type of thing that Yin would likely be okay with him doing, staying back and relatively out of harms way. It was tempting, but with only half of his usual visibility, and his depth perception shot, it really did not seem like the best of choices.

Scrappers had merit, but as soon as he saw the zombie ghoul that he'd had a run in on the horsemen isles with sign up as captain? No, he didn't really want to go there. He supposed it was a chance to get to know her, to understand why she had behaved so aggressively towards himself and his bonded at that time, threatening them both, but today he just wasn't in the mood for more conflict, especially during such a sensitive operation. They needed to all be able to work together, and he didn't know if he could work with her.

That just left grapplers. The zomboil flexed his right hand a few more times, eyes flickering down two it's pale yet mottled and decaying flesh. It may have been rotten, but it was strong. He knew that he could hold on to something, and if he didn't want to let go, he could continue to do so until his arms were torn completely off of his body. He rose to his feet, trying to ignore the odd reunion between Red and Pyre. He remembered the way they had behaved when he had seen through the eyes of Ashly during that trance, had seen their odd relationship as it had been when they were in highschool, Rivals, but obviously friends despite the show. He shuffled over towards the sign up sheet and jotted his name down with the list of grapplers. He recognized the captains name, recognized the student council president just by seeing her around, not from ever having spoken to her. Recognized her enough to know that she was the one, on the islands, who had been consumed by the insanity, and that he had fought to help and take her down, being a part of those that had eventually made her turn to stone. No, he didn't know her, but she had obviously been voted in to student council president for a reason. She was obviously a leader, and he was a good follower. Always had been. And that was all that really mattered, right?

He took a moment, after signing his name, to make his way over towards the purple and tentacled ghoul. His shoulders were slumped and slouched, and he peered at her with one pale eye almost obscured by a mop of white and black hair that he reached up to push out of the way.

"We don't really know each other, but you should know, that I can do my part and I will do it well." He said to her, his tone serious, and honest. "I will do whatever is necessary." He felt like that was enough, because what else could he really say? All he wanted to do was reassure her that he would be a good team member.

Teachers fighting teachers. Riley didn't look very surprised to see it. At least they didn't escalate the battle - what was a punch or two between friends? She had a mind to go punch Sammy in the head right now just for thinking it. But instead, she just sat there and carefully watched who signed up for what. Her eyes followed Pokerus as she walked away after putting her name down, gauging the ghoul for strength and balance until the next students signed up. She'd seen Alex put his name down before he came to talk to her, but she was pleasantly surprised when the one question that bubbled up in her thoughts every time she began an interaction with someone new, was answered before she could ask. They'd never met before. This made things easier for the ghoul, and she was relieved that he came to tell her this. His assurances were also welcome, and her face lifted up, the muscles within the flat plane of skin working to form what would have been a smile if there were any lips to part.

I appreciate your candor. I can already tell you'll do a fine job. Jericho was my best friend - having people who are trying their best in this endeavor is.. A very soft sigh left her tentacles. It's very important to me. My name is Riley. May I ask yours?

Her ears twitched at the sound of conversation around her, though she became interested in what she assumed was conversation between the zomboil whom had just shown up and Riley. She assumed because Riley didn't have a mouth and might be doing the mental talking thing. But he was reassuring her that he'd do his part well, so she thought it would be prudent to add her support.

"Don't worry, I intend to put everything I got into this mission as well." Poke said from her seat to the group.

"Nay." Marosa shook his head after his long thought, glancing to Sharra in a brief moment, then standing up to watch the slight tousle take place. He stared forward, a thought brewing in his mind as he stared at the sheet, walking up to it and seeming lost in deep thought.

With a breath, he turned and walked back to Sharra and kept a straight face, unsure of what his friend would think about it.

"Oi'm tinkin' 'bout grapplin'." Flexing his fingers, the fey stared at his palms for a long moment, turning back and writing his name on the grapplers list. Leaving the sheet up, he stared at Sharra, as if wanting some kind of rebuke, or approval of some sort. "It... moight come in handy."

Marosa turned to Roch, frowning slightly. "Kin ye explain wot Insanity is, on teh trip der?" He nodded his head slightly. "If yoi'll excuse me," The Gancanagh murmured, making his way over to Red, making sure to keep his hands to himself.

"Professor, may oi have a word?"

Roch jerked as he was asked to explain insanity--AFTER the guy had already signed up. Inwardly he was slamming his head on the wall. Then he looked at the sheet, glared at Terra, and cursed the idea that snots were even allowed in the room.

Maybe if they had experienced it like the rest of them, they wouldn't be here for a guy they didn't even know--and who'd been a bit off towards the end, in the first place. Then again, if Jericho turned into an insanity dragon, well, he'd already been infected at that point, hadn't he?

He looked at the other guy (Sharra)--the one that had seemed to know the first. "Do you want to know what insanity is?" he asked.

Sharra had simply nodded before, at mention of Insanity, distracted heavily as Red came in to fully explain the situation. Taking a long slow breath in, he considered his own place here. To tell true, his place was probably with Marosa and Roch...and Riley. His gaze drifted for a long moment to the mindflayer, and then the Nergal boil arose, to put his name 'neath they fey's own. "Well if you're up for it, I'll keep an eye on your flank, eh?" A bit of a nudge. Camaraderie, even if there was no joviality contained therein.

The demon snorted softly at Roch's question, however. "I...know what Insanity is." The Nergal's jaw clenched, fingers curling slightly into a half-hearted fist. "I've stared it in the face a few times." Eyeballing Marosa, he had to wonder if the other fellow knew what he was getting into, and concern welled up for his friend. Hopefully the other could handle this encounter...the demon's opinion was actually quite similar to Roch's own, though he knew that now was a point far too late to voice objection.

Sharra was here for Jericho, and the friends who valued him. The others could sort their own priorities out.

The threat of probable danger was hardly a deterrent--they went to Amityville, for Jack's sake, putting one's self in danger was practically a requirement! Taima had forsaken her sense of self-preservation the moment she touched down at the school months ago. Any opportunity to put into practice everything she had learned thus far was always welcome, regardless of the possible outcomes, and going off-campus in order to do so was even better. It didn't matter to her that she didn't even know the person they were going after; any experience was a learning experience.

Taima took more pause at the prospect of having to work in a team than at the likelihood of danger. She played well enough with others under normal circumstances, but when there were actual consequences to failure, well...Taima didn't do failure, not her own nor anyone else's, and there were enough first years here that outright success was questionable.

Still, she listened attentively to the roles as Red described them, mentally crossing 'scrapper' off her list--she wasn't much of a fighter--and then 'grappler' once it was determined that natural forms weren't an option. That only left healer and infuser, and Taima didn't know the first thing about Fear healing. Her decision obvious, she put down her pen and notebook and walked down the bleachers, pausing to watch with interest as someone totally knew came in and decked Red. She couldn't help but smile a bit as the teacher pretty much just stood there and took it. Just another day at Amityville.

Taima's distraction cost her. She turned back to the sign-up sheet only to find that the position of captain for the infusers had already been taken, giving a dubious glance to the ghoul who had taken it. She remembered her from their (disgusting, gross, foul-smelling) exam. Though the other ghoul was a year ahead of her, the pink, poofy, marshmallow of a witch hardly seemed fit to lead a pom out of a paper bag, let alone direct a very motley crew into certain danger.

Well, they'd see how it turned out. Maybe the witch was more capable than she looked--and if she wasn't, Taima would be right there to take control of the situation.

Canon jumped off her seat and scrambled over to the board to take a closer look at the quickly filling teams. She'd missed out on the last trip, and very much wanted to make up by helping out this time around. The petite Skark had ulterior motives. Mainly, while this might be a rescue mission, what they were basically doing was fighting a dragon.

Fighting Dragons is relevant to Canon's interests.

She only hesitated slightly as her hand hovered before the blackboard. Really, there was only one choice that made sense to the Skark. She was small and light. If she were a Grappler, the dragon would most likely just fling her around. Secondly, she knew next to nothing about healing. Most of her research had been on causing harm, or at least weird effects. Thirdly, she was a close-range fighter. Not to mention her one eye meant she had rather bad depth perception. Accuracy at a distance was not her forte, and for this battle, she needed to be in a position where she could be the most help. Canon added her name to the list of Scrappers, and ran over to join her team, beaming up at her new comrades.

"Oi tink oi might come in handy, as a grappler." He murmured softly, staring at Red as if trying to gauge her reaction. "Oi'm not sure if ye have heard of Gancanagh, or tere abilities..." Marosa's fingers dug into his sides as he took a breath. "We kin touch others, make 'em fall in love with us, but it dinnae work on those that are in love, truly in love." Each word he spat out felt like poison to him, and he felt disgusted just mentioning it. Honestly, he was glad there was a failsafe to his natural ability, or else there would be no end to the horrors that a Gancanagh could do.

"Oi dinnae know if Jericho was ever in love, but... oi may be able t'help, if my natural ability kin affect 'im at all. I dinnae even know what dis Insanity is, but if oi had ta guess, oi'd say oi've already dealt with it on an erryday basis." Marosa was now baring his soul, hoping that Red would understand, would see it from his point of view. And a small part of him, hoped against hope, that his hated natural ability would actually be beneficial and help in the long run.

Vanya wasn't sure what all the fuss was about. She'd heard whispers through the schools of an important mission; one that could possibly be quite dangerous. A rescue of some sorts.. something involving insanity and joy.. The details didn't really matter to her. All she knew was that it was a chance for something interesting as well as a chance to find some strong males. Her reasons for wanting to go aside, the harpy was miffed that she hadn't been personally invited. She wasn't just a pretty face - the ghoul could hold her own when it came to it. And so here she was, stepping into the gymnasium - her claws click clacking with each step. Her eyes glanced over the chalk board and the rolls. She didn't have to think hard; it was obvious which roll she would do best in.

She found the board and jotted her name down under scrappers. Fighting was something she was good at - something she was trained to be good at and something she was raised to enjoy. The excitement of the hunt. Her feathers ruffled and she let out a chirp that sounded more like a purr. The Insanity wasn't something that worried her. If it happened, it happened and she'd deal with it when she could. Until then, she'd do what she could to lend a hand and maybe even land a man.
