She made a note to apologize to Otto about being a slowpoke once--if--she finally got up there. Her arms were shaking from the strain, and the fear, that it took her to climb, but she kept herself calm and continued upwards.

Coffee. Maybe it was the coffee. She had had some that day, and didn't have any this morning, so...
Then again, she wasn't so sure coffee could induce someone to scale a whole cliff like a spider on drugs.

Perhaps it was the fear and the adrenaline that had been coursing through her? But that made no sense, because she was just as terrified right now. And tired. Very tired.
She wanted to take a break, but doing so when her limbs were quivering and while she was just barely hanging onto a wall didn't seem like a smart idea.

Eva had been being honest...kind of. It wasn't as if her fear of heights was a real phobia--otherwise, she would have refused to try climbing this at all--but she really, really did not like them. Not so much that she would avoid them entirely, but enough so that, if there was another choice, she would take it in a heartbeat.

It was a good thing she always wore gloves--she didn't want to think about how the palms of her hands and her fingers would look like after she managed to get to the top. They were already aching from the effort that it took to keep herself up.

And all that Eva's RPer could think was, "It's a good thing I rolled 23 instead of 3 this time".
Meanwhile, said character was still climbin' away~
AND THEN SHE FINALLY MADE IT UP it was a miracle! The first thing she did upon making it? Fling herself at Otto, cling to him, and mumble something about never doing that again.
Unless they had to evacuate during the magma pits again.
Then she would have no choice but to do it again at some point.

Otto stared down with worry as Eva struggled with the climb up. He couldn't do anything for her from the top. Only wait. He hated the waiting.
When she finally made it, he was rendered bewildered as she clung to him desperately, murmuring something about her plight. A tentative hand patted her back. "S'okay.. worst is yet t'come."
So comforting, Otto.
Otto started out into the lava field with careful, tentative steps. One sudden tremor cause a patch he was on to crumble from the rest. It was too far and too deep to climb out from, lava quickly engulfing the tiny island he was on. "s**t.. Eva, I'm sorry!" He called out, mentally adding don't do anything stupid, before warping out.

That was...not reassuring, Otto. Eva gave him a stare, but she knew that he was right. The pits of magma were no walk in the park, and to get past them, well...
Unfortunately, there wasn't much time to dwell on this. She took a step forward, only to feel the tremor of the ground beneath them. She gasped in shock as a part of the floor collapsed into the magma, the resulting splash and steam burning her leg. She jerked back with a wince, but her panic only heightened when she heard Otto call out to her.
Oh god. Oh god, oh god. She could only nod mutely, a silent, "it's okay" as she watched him disappear. So long as he was safe, that was all that mattered.
...But now what? Should she continue on, or leave?

Perhaps...she could continue on? She looked doubtful, especially now that she was completely alone, but it didn't hurt to try making it as far as she could. At the very least, she didn't risk stepping on something stupid again and potentially bringing poor Otto down with her.
...Of course, he would...probably be pretty pissed off if she got herself badly hurt--or dead--here, so uh...
When a spray of magma flew up, the girl decided it was high time to get out of there. Grabbing her pendant, she warped back out.

...Yeah, they were back. Again. She really wanted to know about that Altar, okay? And apparently her curiosity wiped out any (or well, most) of her hesitation regarding climbing heights.
She wanted to know that bad. And of course, she brought Otto along for company and encouragement.
