Pepper paused in his movement for a split second before continuing on at a slower pace so that he could converse with Ani. "Yes return to Althea and tell her I'm going to get the rabbits in the barn out" He words were rushed, he knew time was against him and the others.

 "Orders, Pepper?" She was panting, her chest heaving as she followed Pepper. She was glad the runner had shown up and gladder still to know Althea was alive and well. It was a race against the clock and everything they did ticked away. She would do whatever she could to help.

He leaped up as Ginkgo instructed and looked at the latch. like his old one. There was a trick to this, faster than chewing it off. He nudged at it with his head, the slider catching. Screw it! He dove and began to gnaw at the wooden hold, splinters getting in his mouth, but chewing through it rapidly. She had NEVER heard something so vulgar in all her life. Not even sure how to respond, she simply turned her back to the buck while the three males in the hutch with her started pounding on the grating with their feet.

The chicken wire did start to give way, and perhaps enough for them to squeeze through one by one.
But the sound of boots crunching on dead grass right outside the door perhaps caught their attention. After all, to the hutch rabbits it was a familiar noise.
No shotgun this time, no, but he was ready, and he'd been planning.
Oh yes, he'd been planning.
He slipped through the doors, not wanting to open it too far, not wanting even one to get away.
No, not this time.
Latching the doors shut behind him, he flipped on the light and saw - ah yes.
Perhaps he should make it a habit of catching the pesky critters and selling their meat or fur. Wouldn't make up for the food the spoiled.
And wouldn't bring back his wife's old cat.
But still, a tempting thought.

Wrack! Coal didn't have enough time to warn anyone or avoid the farmer as he had to back up back into the barn and wait right beside the now closed door. How were they all going to get out now?

Pepper watched in horror as the farmer entered the barn and shut the door. This couldn't be good. The time for stealth was over. No more thought on his own safety, Pepper skidded to a halt in front of the barn. "Feverfew, find Althea as fast as you can!" there had to be some way into the barn! Head down low, Pepper began to search frantically.

"I'm on it!" Her heart thudded, but her own safety was not in her thoughts. There were rabbits in there. Not just rabbits. Warren-mates. She needed no second bidding and while she was not a runner for the down, she took off like a bat out of hell. Althea. Find Althea. Oh, she couldn't think too hard. If she did, she'd go tharn and that was not an option.
 The grating was coming loose! Ginkgo's heart lifted a bit. The bickering was momentarily forgotten as he kicked at the grating. It was open enough now that the rabbits could get out. And then the light was on. He froze and turned swiftly. The farmer. Didn't seem to have his stick, but they were trapped. Trapped like rats in a cage. For that brief instant, he did not know what to do. Hide? Was there another way out? He'd never gone tharn before, but he thought he might. Thought was the key word. He saw no death stick and stood still, taking stock of the situation for a moment, which felt as though it was eternity. His golden eyes ran over the door. Not that way. They needed a distraction. He could be a distraction.
He darted towards the farmer and feigned slightly, not getting near enough to be grabbed or kicked, yet near enough to taunt him. He stomped his large, long rear paws. He was fast. Maybe... Maybe... He didn't know what he was doing, but he had to do something. Maybe he could buy time for the others to hide or find another way out.

Dragon froze as the lights burst to life and he slowly slid off the wire, dropping it and hitting the floor hard. He stared at the human, not even looking to Ginkgo or to the other rabbits. There was nowhere to run or hide at this point and he was tharn, just staring at the human. This was not something he expected, but it was the worst thing that could have gone wrong. At Ginkgo's display, he was starting to come out of it.

From the wall of the barn he took down something on some old, rusting pegs. A childhood toy really, something innocent.
Though he didn't think the bat was about to be used in fun and games. Gripping the handle and the rough feel of the old, peeling tape, he started muttering something under his breath, something dark for sure. He wasn't really seeing, anymore. Not the rabbits scurrying away, not the ones glued in place.
And for the rabbit that had dashed forward? He snorted and stepped over as he approached the hutch and lifted the bat.
"After them, are you? Or my crops? My cat? my life? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!"
And with that, he took a heavy swing at the hutch, wood splintering and flying in several directions.

Ani had zipped in front of her group, being smaller and faster than most. She had shot past Feverfew at extremely high speeds not bothering to say anything but, "THIS WAY." To her as she passed.
Upon reaching the barn.
Ani raced around the barn looking for an entrence. It was blocked, bored up and then she heard it. The yelling of man and the crack of something against wood. She stilled before looking at the dirt and the barn and then back. "DIG!" She called out instantly diving towards the ground her paws pulling up as much earth as they could.

A terrible shriek sounded. If you've ever heard a rabbit scream, you'd know it sounds horrible, terrifying. So close to a human. When the bat was pulled away her body lay broken in the wreckage of the hutch, the bat slick with her blood.
The three bucks had gone tharn, eyes wide as their hearts nearly thudded out of their chests.

Coal goggled at he farmer and Ginko and the other owlsa and the then the wreckage of the hutch and the scream of the rabbit inside. His ears hurt and he pinned them to his head. What were they going to do? They could now get the three bucks out but there was no place to escape. "I would. But there's no other way out. I can't just escape where there isn't one." He himself wasn't sure wether to attack the farmer or dig under the door.

He was an owsla. It was in his duty to get these rabbits home safe. He snapped out of his tharn-ship as the man began to beat down the hutch in some wild display.
They were still trapped. No holes, no windows. The mousehole he saw earlier wasn't big enough for a kitten to fit through. "ALL OF YOU! Hide and the moment you can escape, lead them to safety." He hadn't wished death on the rude little doe...it just turned out that way. He charged forwards, teeth bared, and sort of barreled into the man's legs. He'd help Ginkgo, get the other's home safe. Man wasn't going to kill this group. He'd protect them and redeem himself for not protecting that seer years ago.

Fox-Spot, despite having been nauseated by the poisoned flay, skidded to a halt outside the barn. He wanted to help any way he could, and though the contents of his early morning meal kept threatening to come back up, he did his best to keep it down. His eyes went wide as he heard a scream and a loud shatter from inside the barn, the door shut tight as he scrambled over to it, bumping into it like a moth to the light. In his frantic panicked hopping around, he darted past Ani, her words filling his ears. "D-d-d-d-dig! D-d-dig! DIG DIG!" he shouted, dropping down next to her and digging furiously with all his might, his boundless energy now channeled into his paws to scoop and fling dirt out of the way.
