Punk snorted. "That's because he doesn't." Nudging the grumbling foal to settle her, he explained further. "We were colts when we first met. I viewed it as a friendship. Card probably didn't see it as anything but a useful connection to brighten his spotlight." He smiled wryly at the memory. "That tactic eventually backfired on him. That's why he hit me earlier--I reminded him of it."
(( That's why I said "more or less". He knows that Sauron is the product of Erumara and Me'urra and the fact that Me'urra doesn't know about his children which would, in the very least, give Punk the impression that Me'urra had a relationship similar to his and Melda's. Either way, if Melda told Punk her friends' names (which I assume she would, since she already mentioned Caladwen), and Erumara was introduced, he would probably be on his best behavior because of that.
I know, right? I really kinda sorta want to see how an RP with Sumac and Ca would play out... especially if there was a second with them when she's an adult and no longer babysit-able. XD
Yup. And they're going to have beautiful, rosy bird babies. 8'D ))

The fact Cardinal was alone really didn’t surprise Me’urra, but the fact he had ever had a friend of any kind was a shock. “Mmm well the best bet would be to keep one’s mouth shut around him.” Making note to remember it himself he wondered if perhaps there could be an ally to help take Cardinal down in the future. Training with Avalanche would undoubtedly lead to more trouble and bruises. He watched Nocturne stand up. She must be tired of having others talk around her. “Ah sorry my little lady of the night isn’t much for noise.” He watched her roll her eyes at him before she trotted off. “Still about the red menace. There is another Azrein who follows him around. His current ‘friend?’” Me’urra couldn’t see what Cardinal could use bright Azrein for.
(Oh yeah Melda would definitely mention Erumara and how much her friend loves flying and Caladwen and her bouncing mane… *rattles off the positive happy things endlessly*
mm.. Well I have no idea how Sumac would react to foal sitting.

"That's a habit I've never been very good at. I'm a songbird." Punk smiled sheepishly as Nocturne left. "As Miss Shadowspirit's confirmed, I'm chatty." When Me'urra mentioned another Azrien following around Cardinal, he thought back to earlier. "I think I met him earlier. The bright stallion with poisonous plants in his mane, right?" Punk shook his head. "He's a reluctant minion. Apparently he got conned into being Cardinal's slave after a duel."
(( I figured. XD So he'd definitely want to make a good impression because she's Melda's friend; he wouldn't want to upset Erumara--and thus upset Melda. I'm really starting to wonder if Punk won't end up switching sides, or at least go neutral... Guess it depends on where the muse takes me.
That's what would make it interesting. XD It could be (or start out as) a one-time thing. Like Punk leaves Ca with him while searching for new safe spots for her, or he needs to go on patrol or something.
Also, Me'urra's comment makes me want to have Ca bullying vengeance... maybe she could do that in protecting Sumac.
I can't wait to see the babies. I bet they'll be drop-dead adorable. 8D ))

“Well then maybe sometime you and I could compose a song about a downfall of a certain haughty bird.” Me’urra grinned at Punk’s comment. “Nocturne would find your daughter chatty, so don’t worry on it.” He nodded to Punk’s statement and made note of the poisonous plants. He hadn’t known that part. So the bright boy had lost a duel and was now Cardinal’s slave. “Pity, still at least he always knows where Cardinal is right? When you find your hiding spot for the little nipper perhaps you’d best check with him to make sure Cardinal doesn’t frequent such areas.” And getting closer to the poison one would have other benefits as well when it came to taking down Cardinal later.
(*nods* Well an Azrein can change aliment three times though RP so it’s not like it’s set in stone. So just wander through some RPs and see how they go.
*laughs* ok this I have to see. I’m up for a short RP with them together.
Yeeeeesss *folds hands in a slow maniacal way.*)

Punk chuckled. "I'm sure it'll be a hit." He laughed at Me'urra's comment about Nocturne. "Ca probably wishes she was more chatty." He nuzzled the filly again, who sighed contently. "Noise means there's others nearby." He nodded his confirmation. "Yeah... he seemed nice enough once we started talking." And once Punk had stopped being mule-headed. He probably wouldn't mind helping Punk out again.
(( Yup. It'll be interesting to see where he--and Ca, for that matter--end up.
Yessss! *grins* I can unleash my little demon!
Bahaha. Those children are going to be little demons too. I can't wait to see if any of them make friends with Ca or one of Punk's other spawn. All of the demonlings together~ ))

Punk had spoken with the poison azrien? Well now this was interesting. Me’urra had been planning to use Punk to test the water with the poison Azrein and see if perhaps the other male could be swayed to help bring Cardinal’s downfall in time, but if Punk were already friendly with this other male that just made things run so much more smoothly. “My my little bird, quite a flock you travel with. Enemies of one Azrein and friends with his minion? Should I be worried?” His yellow eyes looked at Punk measuring the other male from under his mane.
( *nods* yes it will be.
Very well would you like to start it or shall I? Or are you going to take Ca and Punk back to Sumac in this RP?
Oh it gets worse. Shar lives with Barb and that herd which means she has access to D’art and his siblings. The same mind that raised Me’urra and scares Avalanche can help raise another set of demonlings! Oh and if Me’urra has more foals or accepts Sauron you know he’ll take them to met his mother which means she can influence even more little ones! *demon spawn rank +2* Cardinal, Me’urra, Nocturne, Shar.. my evil Azrein are doomed to a lot of bad influences. Sumac is the only decent one and he’s S.O.L himself. )

Punk slowly lifted his yellow gaze from his daughter to fix it on Me'urra. "No one," he said simply. "Is going to tell me who I can or can't be friends with. Especially not Cardinal." Losing the slight edge that his voice had gained, he continued more casually as he nuzzled the grumbling filly that was snuggling closer to his side. "I have a policy of not ruffling other Azrien's feathers unless they ruffle mine. Saves me from being surrounded by enemies." It was one of the most obvious differences between him and Cardinal: his personality wasn't hellbent on making everyone's lives miserable.
(( Would you mind starting it?
Even if Punk does see Sumac again in this RP, it would just be to get his name and give him a thank you for helping him out. He wouldn't leave Ca with him.

I want to see what this plot Dark has for the childreeeen is. o3o I want to RP with D'von!

So the bird had more a spine then he let on. Chuckling Me’urra was highly amused. “Fair enough. And you have a fairly good policy to have. It’s no good to make pointless enemies, just be careful not to be too chummy with someone that will end up causing you more enemies than you can handle.”He had a thought and decided to express it. “I think the only problem you’ll have so far is by chatting with me you might make Cardinal a bit more vexed. He has taken to trying to ground me down to dust as of late don’t be offended if I don’t stroll up to you and start chatting in his presence. You have something to lose. I don’t.” He looked poignantly at the little filly at the male’s side.” Lets see how this bird reacted to this little comment.

Punk shrugged. He doubted he would remain friends with someone like that for long. He nodded slowly to Me'urra's comment about not talking to him. "I won't hold it against you." His gaze fell to the filly. "Once she's in a safe place, though, it won't matter. Cardinal won't kill me--he doesn't want to piss off Avalanche, and I won't die from his beatings. Ca, though..." She was still young; Cardinal's strength could easily slaughter her, even if it was unintentional. He sighed as he nuzzled the foal. "I almost wish I had a mate. Then there would be someone to watch over her while I'm on sentry duty." That was one of his most common jobs, after all; he made a good border patrol because of his wings and his attentiveness. That, and it usually kept him away from those he didn't like--such as Cardinal. It was rare for them to be patrolling at the same time and even rarer for them to patrol the same area. He worried when he had to leave her alone for a long time. She always got so anxious, and there were other stallions besides Cardinal that Punk worried would find his little daughter.

Reasonable and semi intelligent. Me’urra was glad the other male understood his intention and meaning. This Punk was someone Me’urra was going to keep in touch with. After all the more connections he had in the herd the better. His mother had not raised someone so foolish as to roll over and submit when faced with an obstacle. “Well I wish you luck in finding a mate who won’t snap and snarl at you down here. If you tell Nocturne that I ask it I’m certain she would watch your child from time to time. Though I wouldn’t ask her unless it’s rather dire. She’s not the most” He considered the right word. “Motherly. She’ll make sure Ca is hidden and alive but not much else beyond that. Comfort doesn’t seem to slip into Nocturne’s thoughts often.” Judging from how doting the male was now comfort clearly was something he looked after for the filly.
Standing up he nodded at the male. “You got that bruise from Cardinal so I’m going to assume he’s not too far off. I only came to spend some time with my darling Nocturne before heading back to my training. If you’ll excuse me.”

"Thanks." Punk smiled. "If things get rough, I might take you up on that offer." It wasn't likely that things would get that bad, but it was an option, at least. He nodded to Me'urra as he excused himself, getting to his own feet. "It was nice talking with you." He turned and walked back the way he'd come, towards the bright stallion he'd met previously. Me'urra had made a good point. If Cardinal was still around, the reluctant minion would know. If the bird Azrien was still over there, then he could find somewhere else to rest. If not, he and Ca could simply walk home.

Sumac was standing where he had been when the other bird stallion had tried to run by. He hoped the reckless fool hadn’t met up with Cardinal, but who knew. Only a few moments ago Cardinal had walked by Sumac growling and grumbling about something or other. Sumac simply stood off to the side and let Cardinal pass without comment. Cardinal was distracted and didn’t even seem to notice Sumac which was fine in Sumac’s eyes. Sooner or later Cardinal would remember that he had been ordering Sumac around and yell at Sumac if Sumac had moved from his ‘post’.

He considered not giving his name, but couldn’t bring himself to be rude when the male was more civil this time around. “Sumac Gartha.” He nodded his head to the both of them. “No Cardinal has already come and gone. He seemed fairly despondent. The only reason he’ll come back is to come and order me about later.” He stood aside and waited for the bird Azrein and little one to pass him.

"Despondent? Must've not found his white rose mare." Punk smiled slightly. "Thanks. You're a lifesaver." Literally. With that, he turned to head home with his daughter. He blinked when she moved towards Sumac instead. "Ca..."
Ca was nipping lightly at Sumac's fetlocks when her father said her name. She huffed disappointingly and followed after him. This stallion had fur around his ankles. He was different and Ca had wanted to inspect the brightly-colored leg a little longer.
