"Does that laugh mean I should've asked after all?" Candace grinned, glancing toward the shower before turning her attention to the straight razor. He didn't have one of these before. Weird. Was it better than a regular one? Maybe because of his scars.

"Take your time, darlin'." Candace picked up the cup with a soft sound of distaste. A treble clef? Really? He was a musician so it wasn't unusual but...this clef? Did he pick it because he just couldn't let go? Ugh! She hoped not. That would be incredibly sad. She idly drummed her fingers while deciding what to do, her nails tapping along the cup. "Cute cup." She said loud enough for Jerry to hear. His response would decide the cup's fate.

Ah, so that was all. The cup was set down safely on the counter. "It suits you." Was he almost done yet? She didn't want to rush him but she was starting to get impatient.

Candace blinked. Of course he would--oh. "Not like I haven't seen it all already." She muttered under her breath with a roll of her eyes, hopping off the counter and putting the towel down again. She walked out, closing the door behind her. She sat down on the couch and made herself comfortable while she waited.

The door opened and Candace looked up, giving Jerry a warm smile and patting the seat beside her on the couch. "Come talk to me. I want to know what's so 'complicated' about your situation right now." And that was why she refused to leave. "No holding back, no sugar coating, no dancing around the bush. Talk to me."

"Well," Candace turned to lean back against an arm of the couch. She'd let Jerry have his space. "Generally when I read a book I start from the beginning."

Of course it was simpler. This didn't really explain much other than the obvious though. "And then?"

"The woman you burned yourself up over is still eternally grateful to you for what you did." Candace interjected quietly, listening to everything else he was saying. Well everyone thought he'd gone crazy for good reason. He just didn't seem to see how he was coming across to everyone not inside his headspace. "You recovered a lot quicker after we broke up. It was me that got ridiculously possessive. But is that what you want? Control? Honestly I just...I'm not seeing where it gets complicated. Relationships don't always last. They end. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. People change and move on...especially here."

Candace frowned. "I don't think you're crazy, you're just in a bad place right now as far as I can tell. And it worries me. I just...want to try and know how you're seeing things, so I can try and understand and maybe help you. I'm not the first to do this, right? Keep talking, I want to hear more."

So that was it. Jerry was trying to get into the head of a woman and it just wasn't working. "Well there's your problem. You tried to figure out how a woman worked, I hear it's a common mistake men make." Candace kept her tone light in an attempt to not offend him, though she did worry he might still get upset. For now she would do her best to give him the benefit of the doubt. "Sometimes, despite your best intentions, there really is nothing you can do to help a person. Some people just...can't be helped." Candace shrugged.

She was thrown off by him turning on her. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Where did this come from?! "What are you talking about? This isn't about me, this is about you." Good enough? What was even... "No. No. Don't give up, don't ever give up. You just...you need to let go, move on. You can't dwell on this it's...it's ruining you, Jerry." Candace was trying very hard to keep her voice level, to not raise it or yell. This wasn't Jerry!
