Shine squeaked as Aymet triggered a trap again. She wasn't sure she'd ever get used to that, no matter how many attempts they made at the pirate treasure. Watching him dissipate over and over -- or dissipating herself over and over, even -- was not really her idea of the most fun adventure, regardless.

Limping a little from the injury that last step had caused her, Shine clumsily tried to continue along. Surely they were getting close now. There was only so much more that this place could throw at them, and since she couldn't imagine anything else, that had to mean that they were getting close.
Of course, she also couldn't have imagined a room of traps or a big twisty hallway, so it was not quite beyond the realm of possibility that she was nowhere near the end of this.

Shine was feeling really tired now, exhausted for the first time in a long time. She blinked away the blur at the edges of her vision and pressed onward.

Woah. This wasn't really pirate treasure, but....it did look neat. Shine felt bad that Aymet wasn't here to see this. Maybe they could come back until he could. Yeah, that was a good idea. Biting her lip, she approached one of the things, reaching out to tap it with a claw. It didn't do anything bad. It didn't hurt her or make a trap go off or summon up another one of those awful shadow creatures. In fact, it just looked like a nice, pretty spoon. Nothing else. Intrigued, she pulled it from its place, cradling it in her hands as if it were a little egg. It was only then that she noticed the faint, flickering glow that it was casting on her, and the-- She cried out, nearly dropping the spoon. Why was it on fire?! Impulsively, she started crying again, terrified that it was going to hurt her. Why had she touched something that was fire? But...the place that was on fire was touching her, and it didn't hurt...? "This...this place...it's..." She looked around with wide eyes. This place had made her magical. That was the only explanation for why it didn't burn her. Nothing else even made any sense. Holding the spoon to her chest, she skipped off with a little smile, hoping to find Aymet. Quote: 10. Theia's Blessing of Light: This artifact looks like a large, red, sandstone spoon filled with burning oil. In actuality, it's in the style of an oil lamp that the ancient Greeks used. It stays brightly lit no matter the conditions, and cannot be put out. Oddly, it cannot set anything else aflame, and does not emit any heat. Status Effect: Once every OOC week, you may pour the oil onto yourself. It sinks into your skin, spreading quickly-- congratulations, you now BRIGHTLY glow for one OOC day. To the point where it's painful to look at you. If you already glowed, the effect is twice and strong, AND it lasts twice as long (so two OOC days)!

Meanwhile, back at the maze's beginning, you're standing in a dark room. The pungent stench of mildew emanates from the wet dungeon walls.

Now that they actually knew something was back there, Shine was excited to see Aymet reach the end, too. Maybe he knew more about the treasure than she did, because frankly, this thing didn't make any sense.

Aymet found himself dead and well once again at the entrance of the labyrinth. He eyed the burning spoon Shine had, something she definitely didn't have last time. "Did you make it to the treasure? Was it gold? Jewels? Parrot skeletons? I have to know."

Shine scrunched up her nose.
"Um, well....not....any of that, I..."
Had there been any of that? She'd just looked at this one thing and not much else.
"Maybe you should....maybe see for yourself?"

Oh. This was the maze thing again. Shine's spirits sunk. The sound of Aymet's heavy footsteps quickly disappeared into the stone walls, and she hesitantly followed. They were in this together, she told herself. Don't be selfish, Shine.

As she continued walking, she found herself trailing her claws along the wall, a habit she'd picked up somewhere at Amityville. She was amused to notice that she'd scratched tiny grooves about waist-height on another trip through.
At least...she thought that was her claw-marks.
Her skin crawled at the thought that they were not the only ones coming through here.

Shine probably hadn't been walking alone for very long, but she really, really hated being alone, and it felt like it had been twenty years. At least.
"Aymet?" she weakly called, afraid that someone else might answer.

And took a step --
