Dogs waited low in the grass, taking a lot of deep breaths, his eyes wide open. He trembled, waiting for his team to get the flay-rah to him. The scout was closer to the house. He was all alone by the edge of the fence.
Finally, his team mate came bolting up. He took the flayrah, but fear impeded his steps and he returned it slowly.

She was the scout. Alright. She would watch and distract, should the need arise. She watched, eyes determined, as she began her course along the fence.

Damn. She'd already caught the attention of a cat. The fear she lacked earlier began to creep in as she sought to lose the pfeffa's attention.

He returned, but chose a different path to do so, bolting through the cabbage patch. There was a sudden horrible barking and he flattened himself to the ground, eyes huge. Had the dog scented him or some other rabbit?!

She was sure the cat wasn't interested. Fortunately for her and her team. She watched and waited as the retriever entered the farm. She'd heard a shot earlier and was deeply worried for the rabbit.

He waited with his heart thundering for a long time, but the dog never came. He shrunk back to the fence and took a deep sigh. He had to get this done fast or he'd be nothing but a chewtoy.

Aha! The retriever! He was coming out with a mouthful of flay-rah! The young doe's heart leapt into her throat with happiness, but they were a long way from done. He was passing it off to their runner. Oh no... A dog! Dogsbane was too far away! She struck her foot against the ground to hopefully alert Dogsbane and, if need be, lure the dog away. He needed to get food back to the down. She would run her little heart out.

He lifted his head at the other rabbit's warning, but thankfully the danger had passed. He sighed deeply and kept hopping, getting the next piece of Flayrah easily.

Uh-oh... The dog had gone back to what he was doing... But he looked up and towards her. She was sure he smelled her. Her ears flattened and she hunkered down, watching. She didn't exist. She didn't exist.

Dogs got that piece back just fine, happy that he and Rain and hopefully gingko would be able to eat it all that night. Just thinking of Ginkgo gave him hope. He wouldn't die...not today.

Easily distracted, that dog. Good thing, too! She counted her lucky stars and resumed her patrol. Dogsbane was on his way back and for that, she was glad.

Dogs paused, ears lifting in his running. There was something big nearby. Was it that dog again? He slammed himself to the ground once more, waiting. He couldn't let Ginkgo down.
