He was getting into the rhythm of running again, and was covering ground quickly. He would soon be at the scrapes and he pushed himself to the max, dodging branches and digging his claws in to get a good grip.

Oxlip couldn't keep up full speed, but he was still doing good considering the terrain. He could scent Crow now, and made one last dash.

Oxlip stopped when he reached the scrapes, and he was happy to find that he had arrived just after his sister.
"Good run," he said to her, grinning and panting slightly. "Good job!"

Thistledown had sat out the first race, but she wasn't going to miss the second one too. Her father had been a great runner and she'd do his memory proud. She hesitated a moment at the starting line before deciding to take the long way.

Despite a good start, Thistledown had gone too long without training and in her excitement she tripped over her own feet. How embarrassing!

Thistledown picked up the pace as she reached a straight section. She wondered if she'd chosen the right path, but brushed the thought aside. There would be other races.

Hydrangea slowed a bit as he dodged a fallen rabbit, his momentum a bit off. Hopefully it was just temporary and he could mentally will himself to pick back up again.
