"I'm good at listening to things," he said. A skill honed from years of sorting through convoluted theories and rambling reports of UFO sightings and alien contacts and ghostly encounters. You had to have focus to filter through those sorts of things. "Well, shock scares really aren't...scares anyway." Gabe shrugged. "Screaming and jumping just means you're surprised." He took another bite of garlic bread, considering.

"I mean, I bet you can imagine my parents aren't too fond of what I do. My dad really hates it. My mom...thinks it's a phase I'll grow out of. She becomes more alarmed each year."

Gabe liked to listen, so clearly this was going to work out fairly well.

"I feel like a lot of movies are the same thing over and over." Gabe shrugged."It's depressing but I guess it's what makes money." He shrugged. It was depressing, but it was what it was.

"Well, yeah, I definitely don't do things halfway," Gabe agreed. "That's no way to live, letting things drop." He was sure on that, at least. His parents, however, he was sure would prefer if he let this go. Too bad for them.

Gabe frowned a little. "The only thing remakes are good for is alerting people to the originals," he said firmly. "And that's usually true with sequels too, but...that's another discussion." That wasn't always true, but, well, usually...

He looked down at her hand, a little surprised, but squeezed it gently. "I promise, I don't plan to just...let this drop." He hadn't entirely thought about a girlfriend before, but now that one had very firmly plopped herself in his lap, well. It was a nice experience and one he planned to hold on to.

Gabe was not a large movie buff, but he definitely had an opinion on such things. There was little that could make up for a shoddy plot, especially in the science fiction and conspiracy thrillers he preferred.

"Oh, I exist to please," he said. His attention was on Vythica, and so he was pleasantly surprised when their food arrived, two steaming plates of delicious food.

Gabe laughed quietly. "I guess it does," he agreed. He was rather glad he'd asked for her birthday and favorite color; he figured that'd be a good way to please her. Maybe he'd spring for a gift before then.

He was having some very considerate towards his girlfriend thoughts.

"Looks delicious," Gabe said, and proceeded to happily dig in. He made an effort to not look like a total and complete slob, however, for her benefit and because, well, they were dressed up and at a nice restaurant. Gabe did not have many nice clothes, he did not intend to ruin what he had.

Gabe finished a bit more quickly than Vyth, and did indeed also make an effort to ensure his face was not covered with sauce or anything like that. That would be kinda gross.

"Yeah, absolutely," he said. He wasn't sure he was going to make it through the first without freaking out, but, well, it had gone so well so far. He beckoned to the waitress. "I'll get the check, unless you want dessert?"

"Aha, alright," Gabe said. The waitress came over rather quickly and set the check on the table. Gabe felt rather suave whipping out his parents' credit card to pay, and when the waitress returned with the reciept for him to sign, he left her a fairly generous tip.

"So, I believe you suggested a walk in the park for after dinner?" Gabe gave Vyth a smile that actually approached "charming."

Gabe smiled and slid on his own jacket, following her to the door.

"Ah, a peaceful evening would be ideal," he agreed. With his luck, they'd stumble face-first into an Eternal, or get drained by some Nega, or...some other horrible consequence he could only begin to contemplate. He walked to the car and pulled open the passenger side door with a flourish, holding it for his date. Gee, he really had this down.
