Kindra got just a little excited about the Bubbly Pies, despite being a Goldrider, she doubted that she'd have been able to snag one if they'd gotten to the stall much later. She was thankful that she'd been given some Marks, after all, everything she'd owned was left behind. The little Gold curled tightly around her neck was another bonus, she stroked the little head before asking for a bubbly pie, almost gleefully. She broke a piece off for Fury, the Gold sniffing it cautiously before grabbing it and almost eating it whole. She wanted to get more than one but she also knew others would be craving the delicious treats so she refrained. "Are you getting one N'mol?" she asked, forgetting her manners just this once and speaking with her mouth full, though she did put her hand in front of her face, amused.
Suunath rumbled to Tyeth, then noticed her fellow Gold turn up "Cepheith, Yours is here already? Mine will be glad, today is a good day is it not? After much sadness, Ours need this" she said, her 'voice' audible to both Cepheith and Tyeth too, encompassing the Bronze in her conversation, after all, it would be rude to ignore him, he was curled right there!

"Firs' wrestlin' match startin'!" the smith's robust voice boomed out. Sitting did nothing to hamper the projection from his thick barrel chest. " Numbers One an' Two, t'th' ring!" "'Ere, what's that you're doing?" came an angry shout from shore as the fish went wild at Orlina's disturbance. A weathered-looking middle-aged woman in a headscarf looked about to wade in after her. "That don't start for candlemarks, git!"

Carltis entered the ring and looked his opponent up and down.
Well s**t.
If he won then he was a big bullying b*****d, and if he lost then he was a total wuss. The Harper's single (visible) dark brown eye flicked out of the ring, over at Rochelle. This wasn't what he'd wanted! He'd wanted somebody of about an equal match. One way or another she was probably going to laugh at him over this. Mouth setting into a grim line Carltis squared up to Hekate. What was he going to do?
"Let's go then."
And so the first point of the first match began.
((Carltis is tall massive and strong so:
+1 if your character is particularly large, bulky, robust, built like a brick house +1 if your character is particularly strong, well-muscled, buff
Total: 5 ))

(Ack! Lots of catching up to do crying ) Dizzian Dizzian cocked an eyebrow. "A wrestling contest? Are you serious Hekate? You do know the goal is to pin your opponent...not get away from him right?" Sure three marks was a very nice prize...but Hekate was about as far from a heavy weight as you could possibly get. And Dizzian realized to her horror. She'd be getting Man-handled by complete strangers! It was one thing to dance with a smarmy (if attractive) Rider once but this...this made her shudder. She knew her friend though and cast her a defeated glance. "I'm not going to be able to talk you out of this am I?" She'd go and watch....but she feared for the safety of her friend...and to a lesser extent that of Hekate's opponents. Devith might not understand that it was only a game...and if he thought Hekate was in trouble. Well if any dragon was going to break that instinctive taboo against hurting humans, she could believe Devith would be the one. Courath crooned to Hers. ~ They are smart and strong mine. Don't count them out just yet. ~ The green admired Hekate's courage in entering such a contest. Whether they came out on top or not. Her's had chosen well in such a brave friend. She was brought up short, faltering in her step as Devith mentioned decorating her with ribbon. A small amused snort accompanied her laughing mental voice. ~ Don't be absurd. It may look cute on the little ones but I am no flit! I will not be prettied up and doused in smelly oil for your amusement. ~ She nudged him playfully. Dizzian just chuckled. She would have liked a ribbon for her hair herself but now it was too short for such decoration, maybe a kercheif instead. At least she wanted for nothing and could afford to spend her marks on such frivolities. Above them, a little dark green flit watched them closely, silent compared to the other flitters that chirped and sang and flew ab out. ------------------------------------------------------- ChrysicaiGinkgo trilled excitedly, leaving Cai's shoulder in a whir of green wings as she danced in front of Ice and Moss. Returned were the thoughts of greeting and play. She would Be Good but she would also Have Fun! "That's reassuring. I'm considering dragon healing more seriously now. It was a mess down here on the ground and I'd rather not see that again." A mess indeed, with healers from three different weyrs all trying to do the same thing at once it was a miracle in her mind no dragon or rider was injured further. Why she even caught non-healers doing things she was fairly certain they weren't qualified to do, weyrfolk or not. "Unfortunately." Cai gave a wane half smile. "Trine's been generous but they can only spare so much. I'd much rather have my own materials, and clothing!, rather than the discarded remnants of someone else." She was a trooper, making the best of a bad situation. The Gather couldn't have come at a better time though. Besides clothing, her notebook was full and her writing sticks worn to almost nothing. If she were deprived of that as well she might just lose her mind. "I'm hoping to find what I need and get back to the Healer's. Gather's aren't exactly my thing." --------------------------------------------------------- Zarike"Were you scared?" Zarike asked as he splashed in the water, feeling the slippery scales slip by his fingers. There was no rhyme or reason to his dives, his direction decided by a flash of tail long gone or the ripples of a darker fishes passing. He tumbled face first into the water as the woman's shout spoiled is next dive. Sputtering, the weyrbrat's head shot out of the water, dark bangs plastered over his eyes. "What the?!" He scrambled to plant his feet underneath him in the sandy and now clouded water. Pushing the hair off his face he rounded on the woman, wide toothed grin firmly in place. "We're only playin! I figured you wanted them caught!" Cheeky was infact a well chosen descriptor for Zarike. He looked to Orlina to see her reaction. It would be too funny to see the old lady try and chase them out of the water. ----------------------------------------------------- Z'ferKyrieko I don't mind at all biggrin With no updates from his flitter patrol, Z'fer strolled leisurely past the stalls on his way to the food vendors. His initial quest for brew was derailed as he caught sight of a tanner's stall offering very fine boots. His riding pair were worn and the elaborate tooling on a pair of fine leather black ones while not exactly standard, had caught his attention. He spent some time looking over the tanner's wares, discussing idly little details of this or that, both working towards the bigger sale when Z'fer was knocked into the crafter's table. He caught himself quickly, turning around to scold whoever had hit him when he came face to face with a pretty young woman he recognized. His glower adjusted itself into a smile rather quickly. "You are correct Goldrider Narisa." He gave her a bow and dip of his head. While she may have had numerous Bronzerider names to memorize, he only had a couple Gold riders to add to his mental database. "I am well. Thank you for asking. How are you and Cepheith managing?" The corner of his mouth twitched and his eyebrow raised as he saw the pink ribbon adorning the neck of the flitter attached to her. Z'fer mentally swore as he heard the smith's booming voice rise above the Gather din. That man had the worst timing. Z'fer hadn't realized how much time he'd spent among the stalls. With an apologetic smile to Narisa he gave her another bow. "I hate to part so soon but that call is for me. Would you care to watch? I know one of your own is among the contestants." When he straightened he offered his forearm to her. It wouldn't do to be impolite to one of the weyrwomen of the Weyr who sheltered him. (I'll roll his wrestling in my next post. Got to get him there first xd )

Siata had been just about to harass the hell out of some random person when her number was called. She pulled her scrap of paper out, glanced at the number before she jogged to the wrestling ring again. Alas, Carltis was not to be her partner... yet. The Smith crackered her knuckles and rolled her shoulders. Waiting. Come out come out wherever you are, O Other Number. Big female smith waiting for yoooou. ((Siata is a BRIIIIICK HOUSE (dah dun dun) so: +1 if your character is particularly large, bulky, robust, built like a brick house +1 if your character is particularly strong, well-muscled, buff Total: 4 )) (Ohman I know how horrible this post is |D Sorry! "Oh don't worry I'll be fine it's all in the name of fun anyway." Hekate replied with a laugh and as the smith bellowed out for them she cursed under her breath. "Shards! That's me! Come on Devith! I'll be back in a bit Dizzian!" She called the silver nodding to his sister.
You'd be the prettiest flit out there if you were. He added before dashing after his rider with a bugle catching up to the girl a few moments later as his rider trotted into the ring. Circling the sands Devith laid down not far crossing his paws and watching as the two opponents eyed each other.
It seemed everyone in the contest was some sort of freakishly huge fighter. Hekate herself was slim, but a well muscled from years of hard living and drudge work.
Falling into her fighting stance she flashed her opponent a smile even as he stared grimly at her.
(Hekate is well muscle, but slim and acrobat like
+1 if your character is particularly strong, well-muscled, buff -1 if your character is slight, svelte, slim, dainty, delicate..

Oh shards! Now she was really blushing having realized she'd disturbed the Wingleader in some sort of sale. "Oh shells I hope I didn't...compicate matters." Narisa said a little shyly nodding towards the tanner. Cepheith just chuckled lazily in her mind.
"I...well I'd not mind coming to watch then. If only to cheer you on." She smiled, placing her hand lightly against his arm. "Thank you."

Z'fer
Z'fer shrugged it off, waving with his free hand. "Don't worry about it. He'll remember who I am." His confidence was unwavering as they approached the ring. So she didn't want to cheer on her home weyrling but him instead? Well what man wouldn't feel flattered by that? Once last bow and wink had him parting from Narisa's side and entering the ring.
So he faced off against the girl huh? Not that it was easy to tell a woman lay beneath the thick layer of muscle encasing her bones. Z'fer let no hint of his inner thoughts cross his face, retaining an easy smirk and relaxed stance until he reached the center of the ring. Crossing his arms, Z'fer lifted his shirt up over his head, tossing it aside and shaking his braid back over his shoulders.
Built like a wher or not, she was up against a seasoned bronzerider. Victor of Gather brawls and 'friendly disputes' too numerous to count.
(( Z'fer is 6'4" and built from turns of dragonriding:
+1 if your character is particularly large, bulky, robust, built like a brick house +1 if your character is particularly strong, well-muscled, buff

DIzzian
Dizzian turned around shaking her head in dismay as Hekate and Devith charged off. Moving herself to Courath's injured side they followed at a slower pace, arriving in the crowd just in time to witness the start of the round. Courath led them to Devith's side, thrumming encouragement as she awkwardly laid herself beside him.
Dizzian remained standing, a scan of the nearby area saw a certain bronzerider arrive with another woman on his arm...She bit her lip. ~ I knew he was bad news Courath...should I tell her? ~ Of course she should. Hekate was her best friend. If this man was going to hang all over her then turn to others the moment she was out of sight she should know! Dizzian...just wasn't sure how to go about it.
Courath's eyes took on a hint of yellow. She glanced discreetly toward the second ring where the bronzerider was preparing for his own round and quietly, privately, answered with caution. ~ Talk to him first, it may not be what it seems. ~ Even the ever patient and understand Courath had concern in her mental voice. They would get the full story before telling Deviths...if the silver pair didn't see it first.
------------------------------------------------ Ailin (cause he's feeling neglected xd )
Gather's on a whole weren't that bad. Ailin enjoyed the surplus of good feelings and camaraderie people shared on days such as this. The addition of a loving little blue flit had the harper lad feeling even better than normal. His flute was tucked into it's hiding place, known only to him and Niyx who had first offered use of the loose floorboard. Smells and laughter acted like a siren's song, drawing the unresisting teen and his flit to their source. A small bottle of chilled redfruit juice would do for now. He wanted to wait until the evening's performance to sit down and eat. Hopefully one day soon he would be invited to play along with the weyr's harpers... He really wanted to but there's no way he could ask himself. If they hadn't asked him, then they must not think him ready.

It hadn't fully connected in her mind that Z'fer was facing off against one of her own. Even though he'd said as much. She was still stuck in surprised-yet-embarrassed mode. Which Cepheith was taking quite a bit of amusement out of. Hallow, on the other hand, just stared wide-eyed at the new person, utterly confused as to where he'd come from. And then it didn't matter because a piece of the funny thing around her neck distracted her.
With a small laugh, Narisa tried to let it go, though she did still feel bad. But Z'fer was quite charming and being rather nice. "I'm still sorry about that." She added, giving his arm a small squeeze for good luck.
"Good luck, Z'fer!" Narisa called, moving off to the side and standing with the other bystanders who were shouting and ready to see some wrestling! And then she saw who his opponent was and Narisa felt a small inkling of unease. Hopefully Z'fer didn't pound Hekate too terribly bad. The goldrider grinned towards the weyrling and gave her a thumbs up for luck as well. And of course she flushed when the bronzerider removed his shirt. She couldn't help it!
Greetings Suunath. Tyeth. She included the bronze, not feeling any reason to keep conversation private among them. Mine just arrived, actually. She's run into Calanoth's rider, I believe. I am sure she'd be very happy to see yours at some point. And today is a wonderful day! Cepheith agreed, a small hint of sadness combined with exaggeration hinting her tone. I hope they can enjoy the day.

[Siata]
Let's be honest here: Siata would be downright flattered at Z'fer's thoughts about her. She took pride in her body and had no shortage of women to prove it. Not being traditionally feminine was something she had absolutely no problem with.
She grinned at him when she saw a rather worthy opponent, taller than her by a slight amount and probably just as strong. His shirt came off and so did hers, leaving the woman barefoot, in shorts, and with a tightly bound ches that left no room to grab unless he wanted to strip her down.
(She also had no problem with public nudity. If it came down to it, she'd still wrestle butt naked.)
"Well met, fellow number!" The wherhandler raised her voice, already approaching the man, strides confident, keeping her arms loose and at the ready. Best to keep the center of balance. Stay up. Get him in a hold. Take him down. "I like your hair. Very pretty."
The Smith grinned, bright, friendly, and once she stood near enough for one of them to move, she did, slow, a half circle around him, and then she dove, one arm aimed for the shoulder, the other for the thigh.
(Plus 2 modifiers = 3. Ouch!)
----
(Rochelle)
She cheered for Carltis from the sidelines. Girl or not, win or lose, only four challengers existed for bthis game. It would be epic regardless. The Glasscrafter whooped and cupped her hand around her mouth to yell out:
"KICK HER a** CARLTIS!"

"I am sure Mine will find Yours soon, she is with Tyeth's right now" she told the older Gold, her 'voice' warm. "Today WILL be a wonderful day for Ours, i already see lots of others having fun, Ours deserve to as well" she said with a gentle rumble as she lay near Tyeth. She was pleased, the sun here was nice, she liked how warm it was even though she loved Benden more.

Eliza
Eliza shook her head slightly. "Not really, but it's always worth looking around, sometimes you can find something nice at a good price." She hadn't given much thought to what she was actually looking for either - in fact she rarely did, she was more of a wander and see what caught her fancy sort of shopper.
As they wandered through the stalls she heard the call for the wrestling matches and glanced in that direction. "Want to go and watch?" She asked Ceta, not that she really cared to watch a couple of people beat on each other ..but once in a while there was an upset and that was good gossip fodder.
D'lin & Plexith
Since the other dragons were being social, Plexith knew that he couldn't lay curled up and cranky for much longer, Cepheith's affectionate croon did much to ease his wounded pride and he straightened, pulling himself up to a more social position. 'Tyeth, Suunath' He rumbled greetings to his fellow bronze and the other gold before turning his attention back to Cepheith. 'That is good, it is nice for ours to have a day without worry once in a while, mine too intends to have fun today.' The anger and sadness in the golds tone was not lost on the bronze and he rumbled at her softly. 'Your job is hardest of all, we merely have to fight..but you, you must be our hope and our motivator and our future, there is a weight on your shoulders that no amount of thread fighting could ever equal, it would be unfair to ask you to take on all of that and fight thread with us as well...though I think that you would do a fine job of it." He told her in a sincere tone which was clearly meant to be a compliment. D'lin meanwhile had folded up his purchase and wandered away from the weaver stall towards the wrestling ring to see what was going on. He was a bit surprised to see the slim red headed weyrling in the ring..but he didn't know why, she seemed like the type to throw her name into such a thing. With nothing better to do at the moment he leaned against a nearby stand to watch.
Mercy & Aerith.
Since the crowds had been swept further into the gather and not even Aerith could follow that far the little white went off to find other amusement. It wasn't long before she spotted the group of glittering gold and bronze hides along the lakeshore - and long being accustomed to sitting outside the typical hierarchy she had no compunction about settling herself close by the group of much larger dragons and rumbling a greeting to them, though the only one she knew was Cepheith.
Mercy had absolutely no desire to see more fighting and so while a good portion of the crowd wandered towards the rings she took the opportunity to browse through the vender stalls while they weren't so busy.
