17 + 2 = 19 Success No, bad Amaya, bad! If she was ever going to cast anything aside from Academy jutsu then she was going to have to get her act together and put her mind to work where it was supposed to be! Daydreaming was fine under certain situations, it should actually be encouraged, but in the midst of training it was far from appropriate. There would be plenty of sleeping time that she could fill with imaginings and dreams of a future to come. She would have plenty of sleepless nights as well to figure out what she was going to do. Amaya had time to figure out what role she wanted to fill on the team. She had time to figure out who was going to be on that team. She had time to figure out whether or not Akeru truly wanted her as a pupil. He had said so with such promise that morning and she couldn’t help but hope and pray that it was true. She had enjoyed both his company and his training, so it seemed like he would be a good fit as a sensei for her. Then again, would he avoid her after what happened that afternoon? It was obvious that she had seen something that he wanted to keep to himself. It was also obvious that it had some sort of impact on their friendship. Whether it was a positive thing or not was yet to be seen. She hoped that it wouldn’t have a negative impact on whatever they were considered to be. She didn’t really consider him a teacher because she had also acted as a teacher to him during the course of the day. Sure, not to the extent that he had to her, but she was a teacher none the less, right? There was so much interpretation that was left on the day and there was no way for the child to be sure. It was somewhat concerning, but now she needed to push it all aside and move on with her training.
Once more Amaya fell into the rhythmic breathing that acted as a prelude to her attempts. She tried her best to settle her mind onto the chakra flowing through her. She loved chasing it around and corralling it to her center. Maybe she should try focusing it elsewhere? No, she needed to focus on one location until she had it mastered. Pressing everything together, she felt that same goose bump inducing rush before letting it leave her. Her smile remained intact through it all.

12 + 2 = 14 Success Dragging herself back from those daydreams and forcing herself to concentrate was growing more and more difficult as the even grew older. With her still exuberant excitement about all that was shinobi and the Academy, she didn’t want to just stop and drop all of her ventures to train to make them a reality! Bah! What was the fun in that?! Okay, there was a lot of fun in all of that. After all, she was getting to learn a fairly significant amount of information and she was learning even more new skills. To top that off, she was going to get to learn new skill because she learned these new skills. Oh yeah, things were getting all compounded and complex. No they weren’t; it just made Amaya feel important.
In order to fight off her imagination, the child allowed herself to be swallowed up by her surroundings instead. There was the gentle shuffle of pages every time Yukio continued on with whatever story he happened to be reading that night. There was the gentle sizzle of the burning candle wicks that illuminated the room. Yukio had started tapping his foot as he concentrated on the ink in front of him. There was a slight rushing sound as the breeze pressed against the wind, wishing to flood the room and embrace the humans inside with its strange warmth. Amaya always found it odd when the breeze was anything but bone chillingly cold; pleasant, but odd. For some reason or another she always associated the wind with fall and winter. For some reason it just fit in her mind that way and she wasn’t about to let that go.
Content that she had forced away her dreams for the time being, Amaya turned her focus inward and searched for her energy. There was that gentle pull as she started following it through her body. She couldn’t help but curl the edge of her lips farther upward in contentment as she appreciated the power that was housed inside that tiny little body of hers. It was an invigorating feeling. Much like each time before, the black haired girl started to focus the energy on her center, pulling it inward and focusing it at her core. There were those same goose bumps that riddled her arms and the back of her neck. That pin p***k feeling that ran all along her spine. She could come to live for this feeling. It would be a healthy addiction, right? No matter; with her chakra successfully concentrated she released it, allowing that bit to flee from captivity within her, and prepared herself for another attempt.

2 + 2 = 4 Failure Amaya could feel that her time was beginning to slip as exhaustion began settle in on her shoulders. The child knew that she only had a little longer to work and that she was close to the completion of her training for the night. However, close didn’t count in this case, so she was going to have to go all the way and get that final success for her to move on to either sleep or another harebrained attempt at some other kind of training. What in the world would she move onto? There wasn’t a jutsu that she could learn in the house, even though there were a couple that she was dying to work on. She couldn’t do many physical activities for fear of waking her siblings and mother. There was no literature that she could study because she had been raised in a home completely isolated from the shinobi community and its teachings. The child was going to have to make a trip to the library and see what she could get her hands on. If she had to spend some hours copying scrolls then she would since the literature was vital to her success as a budding shinobi. She could only hope that she would find the time to do all the things that she had set for herself.
Wanting to get everything done and over with, the black haired girl decided to leap back into her training. Her breathing regulated itself and she began to draw on her chakra --
”ACHOO!”
Yukio’s book snapped shut as he violently pitched forward with the hurricane force sneeze that came from him. Rubbing his temples, he sniffled lightly. ”Terribly sorry, Amaya, I hope I didn’t interrupt anything.”
The girl couldn’t help but physically jump at her father’s screaming sneeze erupted across the home. Her energy flooded from her body and she knew that attempt was lost. Amaya’s shoulders were hunched forward almost in a cowering fashion from the shock of the eruption. However, regardless of her shock, the child’s ears were now perked and listening down the hall while holding her breath. Had that awoken her brothers? It wouldn’t bother her as much if it woke her mother since she would just roll over and go back to sleep or usher the remaining two family members to bed. But with the boys if one woke up he was going to scream and holler until his brothers were up too. She sat there, ignoring her father, for a full thirty seconds listening for them.
When the girl was content that she wasn’t going to have to go chloroform her brothers, she was able to turn her attention back to her father. ”No, Otosama, you didn’t interrupt anything.” Though it as a lie, it also wasn’t a big deal.

12 + 2 = 14 Success [Assignment Complete] With the house once again quiet and Amaya was certain that her little brothers were so far lost in their little dreams, whatever it was infants could dream about, that her father’s unannounced sneeze hadn’t stirred any of them. She was especially glad because it would have taken not only her but both of her parents to get the boys back to sleep. That was usually a two hours process if they really got into it. However, crisis averted and she was able to move on in her training.
Almost done with the task that she had set out in front of herself, Amaya took in her slow breath and allowed herself to physically relax. Just a little though; not enough to actually slouch or anything along those lines. The black haired child tugged and pulled at her chakra and willed it to focus in at her core. She pressed in to the center and started to mold it to her will. Those same symptoms from every time before began to wash over the girl: goose bumps, pin p***k tingles in her arms, and that swelling sensation in her chest. It truly was magnificent what chakra could do.
Releasing the breath that she had unconsciously been holding, the small Keiji girl also released her chakra from its hold. Flooding back into her limbs and her fingertips, as well as some of it running from her body out into the world, the child allowed a toothy little smile to spread across her face. Once more she had completed her little training task and once more she found herself wide awake. Should she do more training? Were there chores around the house that she could attend to that her father wasn’t aware of? Perhaps it would be best just to relax and not do much of anything. No, she wouldn’t be content doing that. Amaya knew that sleep was out of the question since she would just lie there and stare aimlessly at the ceiling while hoping for sleep to wash over her magically.
Raising her arms above her head, the child stretched and let out a small, squeaking groan with the effort. She bent to the left and then she repeated the motion with the right. Her indecisiveness was rather irritating at the moment since she knew she could be using that time to train something. Oh, the wondrous enthusiasm of a newly integrated Academy student. Would she be able to keep up this passion through her advancing years or would she plateau into contentment along the way?
