 Can't help if I space in a daze,
My eyes tune out the other way,
I may switch off and go in a daydreamRose entered Nell's home cautiously, halfway expecting to get attacked when she entered the house. Well, maybe that's because she kind of expected her father to do that to anyone she brought home, anyway. She could quite imagine it, in fact, her father deciding to treat Nell like she was on trial. Thankfully she hadn't seen that type of thing, like at all. She looked at Nell, hoping the Scot would be kind enough to give her advanced warning before the grilling started. She tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear and smiled a bit, hoping that Nell couldn't tell how nervous she felt. "So, this is where you live? It's actually, kind of nice. I just live in a ruddy rowhouse in London, so not much there. It kind of reminds me of my aunt's farm, anyway." ----------------------------------

She wound an arm between her girlfriend's and placed a soft kiss upon her cheek. "Try not to act so worried, they can smell fear ya know." she laughed and continued to pull the redhead inside looking for her parents. She hadn't told her siblings Rose was coming early so thankfully both teens were spared from their dramatics but her parents had said that they'd both be home by the time they'd arrive. The Scot beamed at the compliment to her home. "Thanks, Mum takes pride in keeping it clean, especially since I'm not hear to dirty it up. And don't say that I bet your home is quite lovely!" Nell lightly scolded the girl. So I'll tell you all the story,
About the joker and the thief of the night,  XXXXXXXXXXXX Loki had been dreading and simultaneously looking forward to this day for the last week or so since his floo call with his parents. He had considered just bringing Cydney home with him and telling them then but figured it wasn't fair to anyone for what the reactions might be so he gave them first warning. Like he had thought, his mother was less than pleased that he was having a child out of wedlock while also being happy that two of her children were about to give her grandchildren. His father was surprisingly silent, he honestly didn't think the older man had fully wrapped his mind around the fact that not only was one of his daughters about to give birth but his son as well. Well, technically not him but his girlfriend, but still. He had tried to soften the experience for Cyd because of her delicate situation but the moment that he landed on Scotland soil he made sure to check up on her to make sure she wasn't too sick. "You alright there? The first jump is always the hardest." Loki said with a crooked smile. He then turned with a flourish to his home a few feet away knowing that his Da was probably restraining his Mum with all his might from running out to check on the both of them. "So, this is it. Ready to face the cavalry?" he asked with a nervous chuckle. Always laughing in the midst of power,

Cydney had met Loki at his flat, only because he wanted her to meet his parents. To her, that sounded like it'd be hell, but she figured she should probably at least meet the people that would be grandparents to the lump. She sighed a lot, but let him portkey her to Scotland. The instant they landed, she wobbled a bit, feeling quite nauseous. He asked if she was okay, so she gave a half-hearted nod. "I've been better, I've been worse." She rubbed her belly a bit, waiting until the feeling settled down. He asked if she was ready, and she looked at him with an expression that showed her "excitement". She was quite the opposite of thrilled. Regardless, this meant he would have to sit through an uncomfortable meeting with her family... which was massive and female. Oh lord, that'd be fun. After stretching a bit, the woman took a deep breath. "Let's do this. Hopefully there aren't any sudden movements, or your parents will probably hate me." She gave a nervous grin, the cocky Gryffindor actually pretty worried.

About the joker and the thief of the night, XXXXXXXXXXXX Loki just nodded his eyes unwittingly trailing to her still small stomach where his baby was still being grown. Part of him was a bit thrilled at the idea of a tiny version of him running around on the Earth but the major part of him was terrified he's somehow screw everything up. He could only keep his plants alive because half of them were already dried and processed for potions and the other half had to be fresh again for potions. And then there were days he forgot to feed Max but he was pretty sure the owl was a mad hunter considering all the rat and critter bones he had found littering his cage. Legba, if he could barely remember to feed an owl how was he supposed to care for a baby?! He was about ready to turn on his heel and take himself and Cydney somewhere, anywhere, but here when she said she was ready and even made a small joke. He gave her a shaky grin back before grasping her hand and leading her towards his home. His fist didn't even connect to the actual door before it was pulled open and he was suddenly engulfed in his Mum's unusually strong arms. "Lochland! Ti gason ti bebe mwen! You're looking so thin! Are you eating right? Should I be sending you more meals?" Jarai said as she inspected her son with a mother's critical eye. Her husband Gerald was standing off to the side with an amused grin on his face used to his wife's antics. Loki, also used to it, merely grinned and bared it hugging her back and shaking his head in negative that he did not want her sending more food than she already was. It was sort of embarrassing. "Mum, Da, this is Cydney Wakefield, my girlfriend I told you about-" "Yes yes, I of course I remember I'm not that old Lochland! Hello Cydney! Mwen, you're absolutely stunning! But you're looking a bit peaky, come! I can fatten you up in the kitchen." The Haitian woman grinned brightly at the younger woman pulling her in for a short hug before leading her off to her large kitchen leaving the men to themselves in the living room. Gerald just gave his son one look before raising his eyebrow and asking a very important question. "Scotch?" Loki sighed and nodded with no amount of relief. "At least three fingers, it's been a looooong week." His father only chuckled before clapping his son on the back and leading him up the stairs to his small bar.
Meanwhile, Jarai was fussing about in the kitchen pulling plates out and filling one with all manner of food including grilled salmon, cooked lentil beans, broccoli, wheat loaf bread and some small slices of swiss and provolone cheese. "Eat all of that if you can, it's not only good for the baby but it'll help with the nausea as well." she told Cydney kindly. Just before she sat down next to the young woman she grabbed a tray of tea and placed it right on the table before pouring herself and her son's girlfriend a cup. "So, Cydney, tell me about yourself. How did you and Lochland meet?" she asked with a smile trying to help her ease up. She didn't bite. Hard. Always laughing in the midst of power,

Cydney walked with Loki, holding his hand tight. What would his parents be like? Would they be mad at her? The two weren't exactly married... then again, they were also grown adults. It would undoubtedly be millions of times worse had they been teens. Loki went to knock, but was instead grabbed by an older woman. Cyd released his hand, stepping away a bit. She was worried about Loki not eating, then asked about sending him more food. How much food was she sending now? Loki spoke up for introductions, but quickly got cut off by his mum. After accepting the woman's.... odd compliments, Cyd nodded awkwardly. "Um... Thank you? I can't eat much... right now. My stomach isn't settling in proper." Plus, she really didn't want to be "fattened up". She quite liked being in shape. Despite warnings, Jarai tugged Cyd along toward the kitchen. On the way, she heard Loki's dad offer up scotch, and she longed to have alcohol to help handle the craziness of the day.
Cyd leaned against the counter, watching the woman grab out tonnes of food. The woman said to eat all the food she could, and Cyd blinked. That was... a lot of food. Ignoring it for now, the younger woman decided to address the rest. "Actually, we met on a whim. My sister's a potioneer and she needed supplies, so she sent me to the apothecary for her. Loki and I started talking, then went out for chips. After that, we just... kept meeting for drinks, dinners, and whatever else." That was how they met, but what should she say about herself? She really didn't want to start off with "I'm unemployed", as she figured the woman might not think her "worthy" or some other s**t. "Me, um... I was in Gryffindor in my day. I'm from a big family, mostly girls. I have six sisters... There's... not much else, honestly. I'm just.... me." That could have been better. Cyd gave a nervous smile, crossing her arms over her belly.

 XXXXXX Jarai poured a small amount of honey into her tea, stirring the mixture until it was completely dissolved before sipping it and listening to Cydney. Just from looking at her she could see she was still well into her first trimester, was beyond scared witless (as was her son from their previous floo call) about this pregnancy, and was nervous to meet the family. She remembered getting pregnant with Lochland and how nervous she had been having to go from zero to motherhood in a second. Granted, she had been married to her husband by then and not at all in these children's-because that's precisely how she saw them-predicament, but she still understood the fear and anxiety that she was undoubtedly feeling. She listened with a soft hum as the young woman explained how she had met her son and had to hold back a snort at her comment about "whatever else" they had been doing. She was fifty not senile, she knew exactly the sort of thing her son and daughters got into, especially now what with their current status. At the mention of her large family she made a soft sound of surprise at the number of siblings she had. Seven children! "Mwen, that sounds like a busy household. And poor Lochland complains about living with just four women." the Haitian woman chuckled. "Does your family know about the baby yet or are you still waiting to tell them?" Jarai asked curiously putting her other questions on the back burner. She noticed that she sidestepped any mention of employment and had to assume she either had none or was at on that wasn't worth mentioning. Upstairs, Gerald was pouring both himself and his son a generous amount of alcohol before practically throwing himself into his recliner with a groan. "Aam nae gonnae lecture ye coz it honestly wooldnae dae anyain onie guid. whit happened happened an' noo...naw yoo're makin' me a grandfaither!" the Scot finally said with a short laugh. Loki merely shook his head with a smirk of his own. "You were already going to be a grandpa with Tanna's boys." he argued but his words were waved away with his father's hand. "Yeah but that's different. When yer dochter has a bairn it's loch th' final nail in th' coffin 'at they're nae yer wee princess anymair. When yer son has a bairn, it's almost loch lookin' at a mirrur. Yoo'll fin' it oan yer ain suin enaw wi' yer ain wee a body. Dae ye ken yit whit yoo're havin'?" His son shook his head in negative before taking a small sip of the scotch. "Too soon to tell. What am I gonna do Da?" he asked out the clear blue. Gerald just shrugged before downing the rest of his drink with movement. "Make 'er canty sae she doesnae kill ye in childbirth. Also marryin' 'er wooldnae hurt." he added laughing at his son's surprised choke and splutter on his drink.

Cydney found the sugar and added copious amounts to the cup she'd been given. She wished there was lemon, but she'd drink it anyway. Maybe pretend it was spiced rum. It had been less than a month and she already missed alcohol. She sipped the drink, then sighed quietly. Her belly was doing flips, so she set the drink on the counter with a frown. She hadn't eaten more than a handful of bites in the last three days, but it probably wouldn't be wise to tell Jarai... or Nan... or mum... or anyone, really. It was just too hard to keep down. When the woman claimed her household to be busy, Cyd snorted. "Busy is an understatement. I also had sixteen female cousins. And Milo. Also a cousin, not so much female. And I don't blame the poor guy. I'm half hoping Lump's a boy, just so I can stop being surrounded by girls." She wanted to smack herself. Cyd very much doubted the older woman, or even Loki, would like the little "nickname" she'd given to the baby inside her. The woman asked if her family had heard the news, and Cyd shook her head. "No... not all of them. My Nan and one of my sisters know, but that's it. I only told the ones I knew wouldn't be mad. My... my parents and I don't exactly get along. It's why I don't have their surname. Kinda an act of teenage rebellion that got out of hand." She shrugged, then tried another sip of tea, with much the same reaction. She hated talking about her parents, but it was probably for the best.

XXXXXXJarai's eyes widened as Cydney mentioned her large number of cousins and gave a low whistle at it. Her family was blessed indeed! Maybe she could tell her to get checked for multiples with those amount of children, but she figured the young woman was already scared enough with the thought of one child let alone the imagining of two or more. Tanna had taken it relatively alright but that was because she was a twin herself and knew that it could be a relative possibility. That isn't to say she wasn't shocked to a near comatose state but at least she knew before they two were born. Unlike her. She couldn't contain the snort of laughter that escaped her at the nickname Cydney had given the tiny embryo and then began to actually laugh at her look of horror at being caught. "I'm sure Lochland is secretly hoping for a boy as well but even if Little Lump was a boy he'd have to be surrounding by girls on both sides." the mother said with a chuckle. They would have to give the little one a proper nickname once he was born but for now Lump would suffice. It would be a cute story for when they were older to embarrass them with. Her smile dimmed as she explained her familial situation and felt bad for her and reached over to lightly pat her hand comfortingly. "I'm afraid only you and they know how the rest of your family will react, but I can promise you that you'll be welcomed here any time with open arms." Jarai told her with a small mothering grin. She might still have unanswered questions regarding the girl, but she could see that her heart was in the right place, which was all she needed to know. "Don't think I haven't noticed you picking at your food, at least eat some of the lentils, they settle your stomach especially during the first month of morning sickness." she told her in a very authoritative mother voice.

Cydney wondered why the woman looked so shocked. Was it that uncommon to have loads of cousins? After having called the lump by it's proper title, the older woman laughed jovially, throwing Cyd for a loop. She thought it was funny? Well then... awesome. Jarai said that Loki was probably hoping for a boy, and a small smile showed on the brunette's face. "Yea, there's still a lot of girls, but boys are easier to raise. Well, Milo was. That kid was chill. I don't know if Lump will be easy to handle, but if it's a boy, there's less.... hormones to deal with... I guess. Plus, so many girls in the family just opens up so many more babysitters." She sighed, thinking how her mum would react to the news. It wasn't anything new, since Cyd always seemed to be a disappointment to the woman, but it'd be nice to have some support. Jarai promised the younger woman a safe haven, and the latter smiled again. She was about to reply, but she was told to eat the food. She blinked at it, then ate a few beans with a frown. "It's hard to eat. The smells send me into a tizzy and make me ill. Gor, I haven't eaten a proper meal in days, just because it all comes up in a manner of which I don't enjoy." As soon as the words left her mouth, Cyd wanted to slap herself. This woman had an abundance of food, and having mentioned not eating, she was likely to get a lot of it thrown at her. Oh well. There was surely a loo around here somewhere.

XXXXXXJarai made a sympathetic sound as Cydney spoke about not being able to eat because of the nausea and while she didn't like the idea of the girl going hungry decided not to push the issue this time. There would be plenty of time to fatten her up later on in the pregnancy. Still she stood up and left her guest for a few seconds as she went upstairs to gather some potions that she had purchased to send to Tanna but she figured she could go and get some more if her daughter needed it. When she returned she placed the two medium sized bottles on the table in front of the young woman before sitting back down in her seat. "The pink is for morning sickness, take a spoonful right when you wake up before you actually feel sick or it won't work. The green is to help your appetite, I know you don't want to hear this but you need to eat, not just for your health but for the health of Little Lump. Whenever you see that you haven't eaten in a few hours or even all day, I want you to take only a teaspoon and that should bolster enough appetite to eat something." The mother said looking her in the eye to make sure she understood. She didn't want either of the two to suffer when she could have done something. Soon she heard the thundering of footsteps on the stairs signalling that Gerald and Lochland coming down and walking into the kitchen. Loki saw his mother and girlfriend (mother of his child?) sitting at the table with food, tea, and potions and got a little concerned. "Hey guys, everyone playing nicely in here?" he asked with a teasing chuckle before looking at Cydney to see if there was still any apprehension or nervousness about her. He took the seat right besides her and automatically placed a hand on her knee underneath the table to offer support while both his parents tried to act like they didn't know about it.

Cydney blinked and lifted an eyebrow when the woman left. Where was she going? Was she supposed to follow? Guh. She was too tired to follow. It didn't seem to matter, though, as Jarai walked back in with some bottles. Cyd nodded along to the woman's instructions. She did her best to refrain from rolling her eyes when told to eat more. "Sure thing, Mrs Ellis. I'll make sure to do that. If I run low, I'll pester Tiffy until she makes more." There. That was nice, right? She looked around when she heard the sound of the men walking downstairs. When Loki sat down next to her, Cyd leaned until she flopped into his side. "Of course we're being nice. Want... food? Your mum's an enthusiastic chef." Gor, was she going to be able to talk like a normal human at all during this stupid trip? Enthusiastic. Dammit. Not Jarai would think she was being sarcastic... and she honestly wasn't meaning to. "We were mostly talking about Lump and our families and stuff. Nothing big." She nodded, then hiccuped. Those were getting damn near annoying too. Stupid body.

"I know she is, it's her way of trying to fatten you up so you can't move and can never leave. It's how she caught my dad." he said with a smirk while his father (who was currently rummaging in the refrigerator looking for food) cried out "OI!" causing him to snicker and even his mother to hide a grin behind her teacup. His arm went from on her knee to draped over her shoulder idly playing with strands of her long silky hair. He snorted again as she said they were discussing their Lump and families still thinking it funny that she had named the little sprout Lump. And from his Mum's non-reaction, she found it funny as well which was double points he supposed. He looked down at her when she hiccuped with just a sliver of worry. He didn't remember his mother hiccuping during her pregnancies, although to be honest he barely remembers the twins pregnancy and with Nell he had been running around with his father and avoiding the craziness that was her hormones. His hand never moved from her hair but Loki did lean over slightly to press a soft kiss to her forehead. "Would you like to lie down when we get back?" he asked her softly while his parents acted like they weren't in the room while simultaneously eavesdropping. Always laughing in the midst of power,

Cydney munched beans again, then looked up at Loki. She chuckled a bit, then grinned. "So she's like Nan? Nan's a baker, though. Well, she's a great cook, but when she makes sweets, the whole world looks a little brighter, even for a minute." Her expression was a bit dreamy, but not because she was thinking about cookies... nope. Not a bit. She felt the man playing with her hair, but she didn't mind. It was pretty comforting. When she felt him kiss her forehead, she blinked up at him, eyes wide. He asked about laying down, and she debated it. "No, if I lay down, I won't get back up. Any sense of motivation I've ever had has gone out the bloody window. I slept until eleven today. Eleven! I usually sleep in until eight-thirty! I don't even know anymore." She shook her head. If her baking was anything like her cooking, especially those chips, then he'd probably be drooling right along with her. When she blinked up eyes wide at him for the kiss to his he could actually hear his heartbeat in his ears and feel it hit against the inside of his chest. He didn't know if it was her giant brown eyes or just how adorably vulnerable she was looking but he couldn't stop himself from leaning forward and pressing a light kiss to the tip of her nose.
