Kallista stretched and yawned a bit, it was a beautiful day out for some fun in the sun. She absolutely hated being cooped up inside especially on days when it was really nice out. She shifted her beach bag up onto her shoulder as she walked through to find a spot, nodding politely and apologizing if she ran into anyone on her search. She adjusted her sunglasses and looked around.

It almost seemed impossible to find a good spot, with so many people present she sighed a bit. But hey she couldn't complain going to the beach was always a good way to relax. She had yet to meet some new people and make some friends, and she hoped she would accomplish that today, with so many people. After a bit of trekking she finally found a spot and plopped her bag down and pulled put her towel setting it down and undressing. She stretched and she smiled lightly to herself.

This was a huge step for the blonde, and if she was being perfectly honest she wasn't entirely sure she was ready for it.

Blue eyes were wide as saucepans as she walked beside Chase, occasionally seeming as if she might dart behind him to hide. Her hair was partially pinned back by some pretty star clips, and she'd found a well-loved bikini and teamed it with some tattered denim shorts and some flip-flops for a simple beach look. She'd already sun-creamed up with 50+ UV-intolerant sunscreen that claimed to negate any chances of sunburn, but she had a nagging feeling in the back of her mind that she'd still be the lobster by the end of the day.

She faced Chase as he started talking, his smile putting her slightly at ease and causing her own to make a small appearance. "I didn't bring any either." She wasn't entirely sure if she had sunglasses to be honest. What she really needed was a job, so she could stop sponging off of Chase and start being more independent. But she just...she wasn't just she could face it yet. As for the large crowd gathering around a tent that she assumed was the party HQ, she didn't really have a choice. "Sure!" She forced a bright smile on her face, heading in the direction of the tent before Chase could catch the hesitation in her expression.

Whipping her head around, Oliver almost got smacked dead in the face with one of his petite girlfriend's long pigtails as she turned to narrow her eyes at him in the sun. She pulled the sunglasses that had been perched on her head down onto her face where they belonged to look better at him, wondering why in the world she would need a third application of sunscreen. Ollie was usually so very jumpy that she honestly thought that one application of the cream was going to give him a heart attack, which would have resulted in CPR, which probably would have resulted in another heart attack.

They'd graduated to the 'innocent kiss' stage of their dating adventure but he still all but jittered out of his shoes when that happened, so it didn't happen very often. Plus it was pretty hard to ignore that Coralie slept with a giant leopard in her bed every night and one of her dearest friends could turn into a seal. That wasn't even getting into her cosmically powerful adoptive father or Aitana! Sometimes she felt a little bad for poor Ollie, but that was her life and they just had to deal with it.

Today he was dealing with the fact that she'd heard through the grapevine something was going to 'go down' at the beach. She wasn't entirely sure what 'go down' was until she'd asked Ollie, where he'd assured her that it meant fun was going to happen! Fun! At the beach! It was one of those things that she didn't get to do all that often in her long life, remembering only one trip to the beach in the entirety of her time in Japan with Usagi and Mamo-chan. Why not go now?

"Ollie-chan I'm fine. I have the dress to cover my body until we swim and we have the umbrella to sit under and..." Trailing off she spotted a familiar green-braided head, grinning widely. "And there is Aitana! Aitaaaaannnnaaaaa~!!" Her skirt fluttered dangerously when she jumped up and down, waving with excitement. Thankfully the swimsuit she'd chosen with her conservative boyfriend in mind was one of those with cute shorts as the bottoms.

Turning back to Oliver she grabbed his hand and kissed his cheek. "Don't worry so much! We will have fun!"

Honestly Ollie wouldn't have minded being smacked in the face by his girlfriend's pigtails, her hair always smelled really nice. He did manage to get a whiff of her shampoo as the end of her hair flicked by his face before she was staring at him like he was a little off. He couldn't really help it, when it came to Allie and keeping her safe he took the job seriously, even if it was just from skin cancer. He was her Knight after all. Well, fine, he was Earth's Knight, but as she explained to him Chibimoon was heir to Earth and the Moon so technically, he really was her Knight. Now he just had to work on the in shining armour part.

Standing in the sand staring at the pinkette he couldn't stop the smile that was pulling at his lips even through his concern. He had insisted on the cover up dress when he had seen her bikini. It was amazingly cute and that was exactly why he had tried to convince her to go retro and go for a one piece and when that didn't work he pushed the dress. He didn't really want anyone else seeing that much of his girlfriend, he'd have to fight them all off and as just Ollie that wouldn't go very well. Not that he would do that much better as Glendalough with his unicorn dagger. He knew his views were outdated, but he couldn't help it. Allie was perfect and he just didn't want anyone to get the idea they could taint that.

When she called him Ollie-chan his smile widened, even when she was bordering on frstrated with him she was still so darn cute. She did make good points, but still...The next argument he was about to make died on his lips when she started jumping in the air waving at someone. Everything about Allie was bouncy, her personality, her hair, her- he swallowed hard and stared at the ocean his face suddenly taking on a rosy tint.

Staring at the ocean avoided the problem of staring at his bouncy girlfriend, but it meant she was able to launch a sneak attack on him. Her lips on his cheek sent a shock through his entire body, he was almost certain he could feel his hair standing on end. "Okay, fun is good." He grinned at her before squeezing her hand gently. "Lead the way to the fun"

"Yeah it's... nice to get out and just hang out." He admitted. "I work a couple jobs so sometimes I forget what time off feels like." He was only half joking."And no, I heard about it from a couple of younger folks I work with sometimes." ((that was true.))

"I haven't been there. Too many hours put in at Marks Motors." If they were dropping business names he might as well share his work place. "And if not there, I do a shop class in the fall. Helps make ends meet." He shot a quick glance at the girls, tipped a half smile then turned his attention to the grill.

"Definitely enjoying the scenery." From a respectful distance.

When Jade had received an invitation to the beach party, she had hesitated at first. She wondered if she was too old-fashioned for such informal gathering or just too shy to meet so many strangers at the same time. Last time she had been in big party had been around Valentine's Day and that hadn't gone well. On top of that, her skin had a tendency to burn easily.

What made her to make decision to go was the food. Jade still hadn't got a job, nothing permanent at least. So, the practically free meal was tempting and there was a small change to adversite herself. Maybe Kess - or anyone else - would like the food she had brought with her and would hire her next time they had party. It was desperate move but Jade was in desperate situation. She needed money and was ready to jump in any opportunity she could find.

Finally she arrived at the beach. Behind black sunglasses her dark brown eyes searched for the host as she walked towards the tent, figuring that being the place where all food was stored. She was wearing a dark purple swimsuit and two exactly same kind of cover-ups, one covering her shoulders and one wrapped around her waist, covering her feet. A large beach hat with lavender colored flowers was covering her head and hiding most of her long, light turquoise hair. She had also black beach sandals and a large, light brown bag which contained some souveniers for the party people. Pre-cooked chicken wings with pineapple marinade, fruit salad and chocolate chip cookies. She had been careful with packing but feared still that the heat would ruin her attempts to make a good impression.

As she got closer to her destination, she spotted Kess and rose her hand to give her a wave as greeting. "I have something for the hungry ones. Where should I put them?" she asked when she arrived close enough to her that she could speak without shouting. A small nod was given to others around the tent as well.

Venice couldn’t help laughing at her response as she watched the girl bobbing back to the main land. If it wasn’t for Allie calling Aitana over Venice would have placed the tanned girl in a much needed headlock. Back talk at her age! The horror!

“Ha, you just be glad am not in my skates missy! I think we are due a re-match if am not mistaken!”

Sending a joking one fingered wave her way Venice unceremoniously plonked herself down onto the beach her towel just catching her backside to protect from the scorching sand. All ready the blighting stuff was in her shoes, hair and small creases and it was reminding her why she stayed away. Except for moonlight skinny dipping of course. Upon hearing Jade’s voice and the mention of food Venice laid back and raised a pale leg in response.

“Woohoo, right here love, just give it all to me!” She was only half joking.

Ladon had heard about the get together through the grape-vine, and was debating going. It was with some nudging that he decided to go, but not without his security blanket boyfriend, Billy. In sandals, shorts, and a t-shirt, Ladon walked on the beach beside Billy, holding a bottle of sunscreen, a both his and Billy's beach towels. It was a gorgeous day out, not too blazing hot, but warm enough that the water would be cool and refreshing.

As he was slowly getting used to not making patrolling his life, Ladon was starting to enjoy getting out more often. To just do normal things again. It certainly helped him no longer looking like a ghost, and he was actually starting to get a very slight tan which was rather hard when you went out almost every night.

He noticed the group mingling up ahead, and gave a slight wave to no one in particular. Most of these people he didn't know which made him feel awkward.

This was actually the first day off Billy had gotten from his day job in a while, and while he'd have rather spent it snuggling on the couch or something, this was for Ladon. Billy was always looking for opportunity to get his boyfriend to interact with others out of uniform. Even if it meant going to things that weren't exactly his own thing. But never the less, here he was in his dark shorts - an article of clothing he was still not too fond of - and short sleeve button up shirt that was left un-buttoned, proudly displaying the wide scar that ran across his chest. And while Ladon carried their towels, Billy had whatever foodstuff it was they so happened to be bringing.

Embolded by the fact that she wasn't technically hear alone and it was a family-friendly beach party (for now), Daph just raised her eyebrows at Arilee. "I can think of lots of interesting ways to use up my energy buuuuut...." She grinned widely. "I guess we'll just have to stick to this." She patted the board affectionately.

Eying the thick board she'd just put her hand on, then looking down at her own frame, Daphne seriously doubted that she was going to have the strength or balance required to drag that board out into the waves. Thankfully they were, as Ari had said, baby waves forming because the tide had pulled out not too much longer. When the surf came in later no doubt the experienced surf kiddies amongst them would be out on their boards, riding whatever they could get up on while the rest of them sorta bobbed around or played volleyball.

"I'll do my best to stay as close as I can, but lemme say I've never done this before. If I don't see you near I'll just sorta go dead in the water and wait for you to find me, okay?" Picking up the length of fiberglass the bluenette took a deep breath and ran into the surf with a bit of a squeal. "COLD!"

Arilee couldn't help it, the squeal of "Cold!" was too damned funny. But it was a credit to the bluenette that she was trying and not making any excuses for why she couldn't do something.

"Don't worry, girl," she called out encouragingly as she launched her own board into the water. "I'm not gonna leave you to fend for yourself. I'll stick close and watch over you."

Even if the water was colder than what she was used to, Arilee's blood still thrilled to it. This was her element and it showed in her graceful, fluid movements and tiny, confidant smile. Once they were out deep enough, she motioned for Daphne to copy her and pulled herself into a sitting motion on her board, letting her long legs dangle in the water.

"So. since you're a beginner, I figure we're going to sit for a moment and let you get used to the board before I start you trying to stand up on it. I think if we can get you to where you can pull yourself into a sitting position and feel comfy with that, we'll move on tot he rest. Fair?"

Well that was a relief! Daphne was used to the calm reliability of a swimming pool where you didn't move while treading water, the water didn't push at you and move you of its own accord, and you could always see the bottom. They were far enough out that there was no way to see the bottom; you had to be very aware of what you were doing or you'd end up farther away from the beach than you intended to be. It was all beautifully treacherous in the best way!

It took a few tries for the bluenette to heft herself up on the board without flailing, hands slipping on the saltwater coating until she sat straddling the surfboard panting. "This is not as easy as they make it look, ahaha. Good thing I work out!" Sort-of worked out anyway. Jumping rooftops, lifting your body up railings with only your arms, dancing on the edge of the world, fighting jerkhole Dark Moon senshi...it was all relative!

Bobbing out there she took a long moment to stare at the shore, smiling and waving at whomever might be looking. Even if she couldn't manage to get standing up, or even kneeling on it, it was all really worth it just to bob with nothing around her but the rush of the ocean and a yell from shore now and then while the water gun war waged on.

Taking a deep breath and gripping the edges of the surfboard she looked over at Arilee. "Okay, tell me what to do!"

"Nothing worth knowing or doing ever is," Arilee replied with a touch of sympathy as some of those tries had left the taller girl wincing. Still Daphne had managed it in the end and Arilee was more than willing to let her rest for as long as she needed. And in this case, Daphne had proclaimed herself ready for the next lesson a few moments before Ari herself would have given her.

"Well, since we're already facing the shore, next step is usually waiting for the right wave. But since these babies probably aren't going to get much bigger for a while, and I am pretty sure neither of us wants to just sit here for hours, we make do."

Even as she'd been speaking, she was carefully watching the water around them, judging the waves that rolled gently by until she saw one that looked halfway decent.

"All right, we've got a minute or so before the wave I want hits us. Now, position yourself like you're going to be doing push-ups. Hands flat on the board, torso up, arms straight, and legs straight out behind you. Easier to jump into a standing positions that way. Now, you need to let the wave start carrying you before you try that jump."

While keeping a close eye on Daphne, Arilee suited actions to words, moving more slowly than she usually did, just so there would be some visuals during the lesson. She didn't expect Daphne to get this on a first try. If it happened, great, if not, well. Baby waves made for good practicing grounds.

During the summer, Bo Hanley lived at the beach. He surfed, took photos, fell asleep, had a bonfire -- all of it was just another day in the life. The toned 6'5" 20something made it a habit to stumble in and out of as many beach parties in a day as he could manage. This day, though, he was actually invited to one. Kess and Bo had met the way that he met most people -- at a random party, somewhere that he couldn't remember anymore... even if it had only been a week ago. At any rate, she mentioned a party, and one of them had the good sense to put it in his cellphone. Miracle upon miracles was that Bo had managed not to lose his cellphone long enough to actually get the reminder and make it out to the party spot.

Bo was dressed casually -- and a bit too warmly. Despite the heat, he seemed perfectly comfortable in a light blue hoodie, squinting against the sun. At some point, he might have had shoes on, but they appeared to be long lost. He sloshed through the sand with a happy bounce, moving around a dark-haired girl to his left.

"Is this your first time out to the beach here?" he asked her.

Renna Maddox hadn't known Bo before this morning. She was still settling in to her new Destiny City lifestyle and battling with her mother over the phone each day. Her mother did not want her teenage daughter living alone in a big city, especially one with the reputation that DC had. It had taken a bit of lying, entrance into a fancy science school called HITS, and even more convincing on her living situation. It remained a daily battle. But she had the Negaverse to help her, resources to fall back on. So far, she seemed to be winning the battle.

So when she bumped into a charming, massively tall guy at the corner diner, Renna had decided to head out to the beach with him. For her, it was decidedly impulsive, and the thrill of this risk had her heart fluttering in her chest. She had been trying to be more daring lately... trying. The closest she had gotten was tossing on her bathing suit and meeting Bo at a public space a few hours later.

So far, so good. "There are lots of beaches in South Africa," she said, walking slowly through the sand. "But this is my first American beach. In Baltimore, we really only saw the harbor. Ocean City was close by, but we never made it up there." Renna had on a simple black tankini covered by a purple and yellow halter-top sarong. Her wedge sandals were tucked into a thatched beach bag complete with towel, two different SPF lotions, a Kindle, some sliced apples, a change of clothes, and three bottles of water. Renna came prepared.

Bo smiled as Renna spoke, constantly amused by her accent. He had a habit of picking friends up like this and saw absolutely nothing strange in it. "Well, hopefully our sun and sand can satisfy," he said, sweeping an arm out to the waves crashing in the distance.

When the two finally got to the spot where Kess had mentioned, Bo spotted and glanced around. "I should introduce you to Kess," he said, scanning over the bodies. "She's great, you'll love her." Granted -- Bo thought everyone was great and would love everyone.

Renna adjusted the tortoise-shell sunglasses perched on her nose. "I can set up my towel over there--" she pointed to an unoccupied bit closer to the water "--and just hang out."

Bo grinned and gave her a salute. "Sounds great!" Without another word, he was up and off, disappearing up the beach.

"I... wasn't done," Renna said under her breath. She had wanted to say that she could set up towel for the two of them... but he hadn't really given her the chance. Did she even know anyone here? Doubtful. Her first year at HITS hadn't started yet, and she had barely been in the city for a month. There had been a lot of abrupt change in her life, and she was doing her damnedest not to get overwhelmed.

With a shrug, the dark-skinned South African made her way over to the spot she had pointed out to Bo. She flattened out a bright green towel and weighted down each corner with her shoes, bag, and cellphone. Hopefully Bo wouldn't leave her alone too long, she thought as she knelt on the blanket, rummaging around for some suntan lotion.

She didn't get far though it wasn't because she didn't try! Or because she didn't want to because if anything appealed to Daphne it was doing this right on the first try so that everyone could look out at her being a total badass on the board. Considering, however, her earlier struggle with just getting up to sit on the damn thing, standing up any time soon did not seem like it was going to be a thing. Hell she probably would have even settled for kneeling.

What she should have hoped for was just staying on the board on her stomach.

As the wave came up beneath the bluenette she bent forward to let the wave carry her, getting perhaps three full board lengths before the wave curled and her body slid right off the edge of the thing. It hit the shore and not too much longer, spluttering and swearing, came a sodden Daphne. "I was close!" Like the sun was close to Earth.

Fairymount

One person had been watching, shutter of her camera snapping away to capture every instant of the bluenette's sodden trip towards becoming a newbie surfer. When the girl waded out of the ocean later, Bernadette would wander over, hand her one of the specially-laminated cards that she'd stayed late at work the night before to make especially for the party, and hope that she was willing to let them go into her book! Bernie couldn't quite remember where she'd heard about the party but...did it matter?

People! Photo opportunities! Memories made! This was one of her favorite things in the world to do and the Negaverse had no claim on her that day which was even better. She would have time to go home, lock herself in her darkroom, and relive the day while developing negatives. Bernadette thought she looked pretty well like she belonged with her white hair pinned up, dark skin taking the sun with little risk of a burn, shorts and a basic tank top over her very inexpensive swimsuit. There wasn't much to work with on her salary; she was still trying to pay for the camera!

Spotting another girl with similarly-dark skin with a lanky, tanned young man running away from her the corrupt senshi took a chance and trekked her way over to the girl on the green towel. "Hello there! Sorry to bother you but uhm...do you mind if I take a picture?" Holding up her camera, she also reached around to pull a well-loved Polaroid out of her bag. "I can do instants!"
