Amun grinned. "Maybe that's because you never had someone read your thoughts before. Thoughts are linked to circumstance."
"I had a good teacher," he replied meekly. Thinking back to his starhood, he shook his head. "It wasn't uneventful, per say... it was simply meticulous." Watch, listen, grant; those were his activities. But there wasn't much of the earth below you could see, so the scenery tended to be repetitive. He listened to thousands upon thousands of wishes, but most were so similar, it was hard to tell the difference. As for granting those wishes... He'd found few worth the effort.
"You saved me, you know," he said softly, gently pressing his nose against hers.

"That's true.. with you it's almost like I could speak normally. It was a little weird at first, but it makes me happy there's at least one individual I can converse with", she told him with a sheepish smile. Maybe he could also help her interact with others, should such a situation arise sometime. Her family, most of them having glowing markings or eyes, could communicate through those to some extent, but it was mostly just emotions. Better than nothing, but with Amun Esha felt like she could finally express herself fully.
She shook her head slightly. "I don't think I was particularly good.. but I've tried my best", she replied to his claim. "Meticulous? Hm.. you shine up there for aeons, and all you really have are countless wishes from down here, huh..?" her eyes were full of sympathy as she looked at him. What an unfulfilling life that must've been..
Then, she blushed again as he pressed his nose into hers, fidgeting a little. "S-saved you?" she asked him shyly.

His face lit up when she said his telepathy made her happy. At her modesty, he smiled. "And that's one reason you were a good teacher." He nodded in confirmation of her thoughts about the meticulous nature of his former job.
"Yes, you saved me," he repeated. He looked towards the entrance of their den and the darkness outside of it. "The wishes reaching me... had become so tainted with selfishness and greed... I didn't want to hear them anymore." He frowned in remembrance of those dark, corrupted wishes. But his eyes shone brightly as he looked at Esha again. "But then I heard you."

Esha had really grown to love Amun's smile, in particular. Her heart skipped a beat as he spoke, feeling embarrassed and incredibly happy at the same time. He had also saved her by deciding to come down - she had led a life of solitude up until they met. Of course she had her family, and she saw them on occasion.. but she had never been able to make friends, or interact with outsiders. Amun had brought so much meaning into her life as well.. not only was she alone no more, she also had somebody she was able to cherish and look after to the best of her abilities. While it may have seemed like a very simple life to someone else, for her it was the greatest happiness she could ever imagine bestowed upon someone.
"You saved me too, you know.." she finally responded, knowing he couldn't have read her jumbled thoughts. "I was alone most of my life, and I always wished for someone that I could dote on. And you heard my wish and came down here.. having you here, teaching you, getting to know you.. it's been the most fulfilling, most joyous time of my life", she told him, her purple eyes shyly gazing into his orange ones.

"The feeling's mutual." Amun gently pressed his forehead to hers, amber orbs shining as he stared into Esha's amethyst ones. "I've never been so happy... as I have been to grant your wish." Her wish had become his own wish. To be loved and understood, to be shed of the loneliness and isolation of the night... Esha granted those things to him, just as he had granted them to her.

She smiled sweetly at her mate as they lay there for a while, just enjoying each other's presence. The moment was soon interrupted by her stomach rumbling, startling her and making her jump a little. Her start soon turned into embarrassment and she blushed, looking apologetic.
"Uh.. I-I guess it's time to go find some food", she sheepishly remarked. Indeed, on a normal night they usually would have long since been out of the den either looking for food or doing something else. Their little morning adventure had however somewhat thrown the usual cycle off.
Esha gave Amun one more soft nuzzle before stretching again and climbing out of the den into the night air. "It's been really nice out lately.. I hope we can find some ripe fruit or berries tonight."

Amun blinked, then laughed at her sudden start. "I guess so!" He nuzzled her back before stretching himself and following her out into the night. "It has been really nice out," he agreed. "And I'm sure we will." He was feeling really good right now, as if nothing could go wrong right then.

Crickets were chirping softly again, and in the distance Esha could hear the cries of an owl. What little she could see of the sky through the foliage, it seemed that tonight was another clear and nearly windless night.
"Are you hungry for anything specific?" she asked Amun, smiling softly. "Which way should we head first?" Not that the direction really mattered all that much, since their home forest was quite abundant in things they could eat. Some other gladiers even ate small animals and insects, but her family had always been herbivorous. Harming living things just went completely against her nature.

"Hmm... not really." Which meant they'd just pick a direction and walk. "Let's try this way," he suggested, gesturing with his paw. It was the direction he'd seen the least of, which meant not only that there was probably food, but there was also likely to be things he hadn't seen before.
(( Is it bad that every time I go to post, I count the number of RP replies? ))

((Haha, I do that too. xD I'm really looking forward to family RP - I think it'll be easier to come up with interesting stuff with more characters to play orz
I'm enjoying this but admittedly basic lovey-dovey daily life gets a bit dry over time..))
Esha nodded, making a few bouncy steps before falling into her normal pace in the direction Amun had suggested. "I'm not sure I've been very far in this direction before, either.. so I'm sure this will be exciting for us both", she remarked gleefully. She was feeling adventurous tonight, even though at the very moment food was a higher priority for her. As soon as she'd got something to eat she would be ready for exploring.

Amun nodded, his tail wagging at the sound of her glee. Who said that searching for food couldn't be fun? Especially when he had company like Esha. Everything seemed even more bright and shiny and new when she was with him.
(( I know right? It'll be even more exciting with all of the other star babies showing up.

Even though Esha had had a normal childhood, and the glades were more or less familiar to her, she still got excited whenever the two of them did something out of the ordinary. With Amun, at times she felt like she was a kit again. Tonight was one such occasion, and she was incredibly excited to explore a new part of the woods.
She had always wondered what lay hidden in the deepest parts of the forest, but she'd heard some stories about there being something potentially dangerous, so she was afraid to go by herself to confirm whether it was true or not.

Amun walked aimlessly into the depths of the forest, his eyes scanning the bushes and trees for food. "See anything edible?"
(( Absolutely. I can't wait until I get Ace's kid(s). o3o And then they can interact with Rubido and Yue's too. Aaaaah, so excited! >3<
In other news, I really want them to find a peach tree. I don't know why. Maybe it was that peach bar that I had the other day... ))

((Oooh yesss. O vO I always love kits making friends and causing some chaos haha.
And omg now I want peaches. /drool))
Esha looked around intently, but so far she was only seeing various mushrooms. In the dark it was sometimes hard to tell whether they were safe to eat, so she rarely took the chance. Right now, she was craving something sweet..
"I think I see a clearing ahead, maybe there's some fruit there? I know they like a lot of light.." she pointed out, her wings fluttering anxiously. She thought she could smell something, but couldn't be absolutely certain yet.
"Let's go see, I have a good feeling~"
She felt like her feet couldn't carry her fast enough, so flapping her little wings, she rose a feet or so above ground. Flying in the forest was a bit risky at times, with all the branches and such.. that's why she usually chose to remain low.
Indeed, when they finally reached the edge of the little clearing, they came across a small pond, with two knobby peach trees growing near the water's edge. The soft heart-shaped fruit seemed perfectly ripened.

Amun nodded, following her to the clearing. He blinked when she flew off, he hurried to fly after her. Unfortunately, he hadn't gotten much practice flying, so his landings were still rather rough. He tumbled when his feet got caught under him, colliding with one of the peach trees. The Gladier made a face and let out a sound of irritated surprise when a peach splattered on his head. He shook his head, trying to remove the squished fruit, looking displeased by the fact that he'd gotten dirty.
(( And since Ace's kid(s) will be involved, there will definitely be some chaos. XD ))
