Shiiiiiit.
Mac sat up, resisting every urge to push her away from him. The full extent of their mistake wasn't lost on him; while he certainly did cheat on Lizzy, he was also very sure that he was Hel's first, which...somehow made it worse. With that in mind he was much nicer about getting her off of him, treating her more like glass.

Hel eased back and off of him with his help, not missing the way he was suddenly treating her.
Ugh.
She swung her feet over the edge of the couch as well and crossed her arms over her stomach as she sat next to him, staring down at her feet. Well. Uh…yeah. She would actually be alright with this whole situation except for one thing. Lizzy. That fact that she did exist outside of this house was very much a slap in the face to reality…and what she had done to her and to their relationship…oh. Her stomach dropped as she frowned a bit. “…Do not apologize.” She muttered. “Because then I should too. I only have one regret ah…you know…” Lizzy. “…We need to tell her.”

Yeah, that was...one big regret, that. He drew in a deep breath, battling his conscience but it was quite clear the one that had been drowned out last night was now front-and-centre, screaming 'I TRIED, YOU a*****e!' over and over again. When she told him not to apologize he turned his head, peering through his arms at her for a moment.
"Alright, I take it back." He said quietly after a moment, sitting somewhat straighter as his ghoulfriend was brought up. Nearly every voice in him screamed no, that if she knew he'd lose her, but he knew keep down that he couldn't keep quiet about it. He promised her a long time ago that he'd be honest with her no matter what.
"Y-yeah...but I think I should do it." He had to man up; this was his mistake of course, he should have known better. Mac had always been attracted to Hel, but he didn't love her like he loved Lizzy...

“Good.” Hel murmured as he took it back, glancing over at him. She didn’t know what else to say for the moment, as those rush of feelings set in. Guilt. Guilt that she had done this to Lizzy…but also guilt that she had very much enjoyed it when it was happening. She’d…definitely keep that to herself.
She fully looked over at the Psychopomp when he spoke about doing it. “What, and make me look like a coward as you fall upon the sword? No thank you. When she knows…I will be there as well…Mac…you are not solely responsible.” It was certainly a matter of (mis-placed) honor…both her own and Lizzy’s. Hel lapsed into another moment of silence before letting out a dry chuckle.
“…Um…probably not the best time…but ah…will…you still be my friend?” Now she felt really stupid for asking that out loud…but the fear of maybe losing him for whatever reason was eating away at her too. In a way she had lost Mot…she didn’t want to lose another one.

"I should have known better, Hel. Come on." Bringing her here, when he knew they'd be alone? Suggesting alcohol, when he knew what could happen? He wasn't a stranger to this, he knew the consequences in a situation like this. Somehow, it made it worse that she still had to ask whether or not they were still friends.
"Of course, Hel...you don't have to ask that." He nudged her with his arm, elbowing her to try and get some semblance of normalicy back into their now complicated relationship. They had yet to get dressed and he naturally got a very good look at her again, without the haze of pain or alcohol clouding them; yeeeah, he wouldn't be forgetting this any time soon. It would be both a shame and a good memory. He sucked in a breath, scratching the back of his neck.
"Ahh...at the risk of making this worse...I like you, Hel. A lot. But I just don't love you." He was in lust with her, he knew that; but he loved Lizzy, and that was more important.

“It takes two to tango, Mac. That is all.” Whether he had known better or not…she still felt equally as guilty. As she should. She could have said ‘no’ at any time, but she didn’t.
Hel seemed relieved at his words, and even more so at the gesture. The ghoul reached out with an elbow to nudge him back, and looked over at him as he looked at her. Her lips quirked a bit and she reached to poke his side. “Keep rowing, ya? It does wonders for you.” She half heartedly teased with a wink. She was pretty serious about that too. Mac had…a very beautiful body. At his next statement, she pulled her hand back, pausing for a moment before replying. “I like you a lot too. I also…I still appreciate what you said last night as well…” She paused again “…Ah…ya…I know.” She murmured, looking off to the side.
The reaper sat there in a bit of an awkward silence, trying not to let the words ‘I don’t love you’ ring sourly in her head. “…Well…the pumpkin sun still climbs in the sky…” She muttered, and then took that initiative to get up and finally go collect her underwear.

"I don't plan on stopping." Mac chuckled weakly, swatting her poking hand away from him. He wanted to be a ferryman, and that meant most of his life would be out on the water; he intended to always do it the old fashioned way too, rowing by hand rather than machine.
"I meant every word, and I still do." He insisted, at least not feeling bad about that. A small part of him felt bad for being upfront about not loving her, but he felt it had needed to be said, even if it did hurt. He watched her stand and move about the room, zoning out for a moment to just watch her. When he caught himself doing it he shook his head as if it would clear his terrible thoughts, getting to his feet moments later to leave the room, going back to his to change.
When he finally did leave his room, he was fully dressed and fixing his hat on his head. "The shower's that way if you need it. Uhh...Whenever you're ready to go back, just gimme a yell." He nodded towards the bathroom for her, but otherwise his offer stood.
It felt weird, knowing what they did was wrong, and yet not being completely and utterly panicked about it.

“Good.” Hel replied, and gave the reaper a small smile as he reaffirmed his words from last night. At least she could always hang onto those. It helped her to feel a bit better at least…to know that…someone thought she was perfect, as childish as the notion may have been, because nothing was perfect. It was the thought that counted, and she’d cherish that forever.
The valkyrie collected her scattered clothing (well, Mac’s, since she borrowed it), as the boil left the room, and pulled them back on for the time being. She even went as far as to collect all the empty cider cans and throw them in the trash in the kitchen. No need to be an inconsiderate house guest…especially after uh…what happened on the couch. Dear Sally. Hel was in the living room when Mac came back, fully dressed, staring at the couch.
“…Huh…? Oh…uh…thank you but I think I will…pass until we get back to the dorms.” Because her clean clothes were there. That being said, Hel returned to Mac’s room and changed into her own clothes then, neatly folding the ones he let her borrow and placing them on his bed. With everything back on and her bag around her shoulder, Hel paused in the hall.
“…Ready whenever you are!” She called out and then had the thought that…well…this was pretty surreal feeling.

"Err, kay. Uhh, you remember the way out? I'll meet you out back." The Reaper smiled at her, waiting for her to leave before taking his own turn to stare at the couch; one cushion in particular. It spoke the truth of what happened, and felt more of a blemish than it really was. He cleared his throat and flipped the cushion over, making sure nobody would notice before he left the house entirely, locking up behind him.
It was a quiet, awkward boat ride back to Amity.
