Mercy sighed slightly as Falcon shuffled off with a horribly dejected look on his face, she was sorry to hurt his feelings but she just couldn't take him with her - perhaps when he was older she would could take him to Ironforge for training as well...or maybe by that time she'd be able to train him herself! That was an exciting thought and she pledged to bring it up with him on her next visit home.
It seemed like the majority of the good-byes had been said - at the very least she had the feeling that if she lingered for much long things would only dissolve further - and there was no sense in putting off the inevitable. As her father and sister had said..she needed to get going before she lost any more of the day light. Making her way around the groups scattered to say good-bye Mercy made sure to nuzzle each and every one, perhaps the foals got a bit more love but..they were foals and that was to be expected. By the end the pale mare didn't think she could really say much without becoming emotional so she decided to keep it short and sweet. "Good-bye everyone...I'll come back and visit as soon as I can. I promise"
With one last sad look at those she was leaving behind and odd mix of excitement and sadness plaguing her mind Mercy turned about and picked up the small bag of mementos she was taking with her before starting down the pathway at a smart trot.

Since Falcon had returned to the family and seemed to be behaving - sulking..but at least not causing any trouble - for the moment Eversong turned his attention to Mercy once more. He returned her friendly nuzzle with one of his own "You'll do fine out there" He encouraged her. As far as he had been told the mare had only ever left the shelter of the herd once before and that had been with her sister Syn. Still Eversong was sure that she would be just fine , sure she was bit naive about things but she had a good heart and she was far from being a stupid mare. No she'd be perfectly fine out there in the world and really...he thought the world in general would be better with her out in it. Mercy seemed to make everyone happy wherever she went.
As Mercy approached her to say her final good-bye - at least for a while - Jarita drew the mare closer and wrapped her neck around her in a hug. She had already said her own private good-bye to the mare before hand , and in fact Mercy was going to do her a bit of a favor along the way. "Just remember the landmarks I told you - she shouldn't be to hard to find" She reminded the mare before releasing her so that she could go and finish saying her good-bye's and head off onto the trail.
Kaliri shook her head slightly at her brother when he suggested that Falcon would be punished for three whole moon cycles - sure he probably deserved it but everyone knew that father was a bit of a push-over. Before she could point that out to Fairbreeze however Mercy was coming over to say good-bye and Kaliri happily offered her a nuzzle in return "Be careful out there!" She told the mare cheerfully enough. Sure she was a tiny bit sad that she was leaving but she said she would come back - so Kaliri wasn't all that worried.

Cheveyo was more then a little bit choked up as Mercy stopped to say good-bye to him. "Just...just be careful out there" He told her as she nuzzled him, returning the affection easily. He had thought perhaps it would be easier to watch Mercy leave since he'd already seen Syn do so many times - but it never got any easier and he doubted it ever would no matter how old they got and how many time he had to watch them both do so.
"You'll make me proud no matter what happens" He told her with a warm look before nudging her off and watching as she departed with sad eyes. She'd be back - he knew she would and she'd be better for her time away and the lessons she would learn while out there.

Well it seemed that Olo was going to let him off the hook for upsetting Lapin - finally and when the other stallion dropped things Syrrin was more then glad to drop them too. "Try not to get lost or anything" He told Mercy though his tone was light and it was easy to see that he was just joking around instead of falling into the sadness that everyone else seemed to be exuding at the moment.
"You'll knock'em dead" He went on in a far more encouraging tone while nuzzling her in return and watching as she moved on to say good bye to the rest of the herd before starting off down the trail.

Poe looked up as Mercy came to say her goodbye to her and Lapin, giving her a warm quiet look Poe nuzzled her Aunt warmly "We love you Aunt Mercy" She told the mare - making it a we instead of I to include Lapin since she still wasn't sure if the other filly was going to talk or not. "Please come back soon" She added and with Mercy mumbled agreement to do so she turned her head to watch as her Aunt made her way through the rest of the herd and then started off down the trail - though she didn't leave her sisters side to do so. Lapin still needed her she sensed - and probably would for a while longer.

Fairbreeze turned from his sister to Mercy as the mare bid her final goodbyes to his family. He returned her nuzzle with one of his own. "Goodbye Mercy. I look forward to your return." He told her truthfully. While he still didn't know the mare as well as the other who called her family they were all part of the same herd so Fairbreeze did feel a certain attachment to her. Plus after hearing his parents talk of the world outside this small peaceful place he was eager to hear more about it and Mercy would be able to provide him with just that. His eyes turned to the two Usdia foals who were the ones seeming to have the hardest time with the mares departure. He could understand their sadness, he would be sad if Mercy was his aunt and not just a friend. Perhaps when the pair was a bit less distracted by their sadness he would offer to play with him, in hopes of keeping their minds off their Aunt.
As Mercy left Fairbreeze's eyes turned to his brother and parents, he wondered just what the immediate future held in store for Falcona nd as a result of his behavior today what their parents would do to him and Kaliri as well. Only time would tell of the punishment and lessons that would come from today's little display.

"I know you will do well. Goodbye Aunt Mercy." Olo told his aunt encouragingly and returned her nuzzle. The goodbyes had been hard on everyone, even him though perhaps it didn't show as much due to his quiet presence but he was missing her already. As the larger mare took her leave Olo turned her gaze to his sisters. They were holding up fairly well at the moment but he was certain they would need all the love and support the entire herd could muster in the coming days. He would stay for as long as needed before returning to the shrine. Though he hadn't originally planned to stay for too long he knew Whisper would understand if he were a couple days late once he explained the situation to her.

Lapin relished Mercy's final nuzzle and pressed her nose hard into the mares neck. She wanted to say something, anything to her Aunt but found the words refused to come. It was lucky that Poe was there to give the words for both of them. What Poe said was exactly what Lapin would have said had her words not been failing her so. She watched as Mercy left, the mares form growing smaller in the distance with each step. She did not move from Poe's side, wasn't sure she trusted herself to leave her sister at the moment. The next few days were going to be hard and she needed Poe's quiet comforting presence to make it through that. Nuzzling deeper into her sister Lapin felt a few stray tears roll down her checks as Mercy finally slipped from sight.
Lapin, for the moment, forgot about all the others who had gathered around to bid their farewells. It was just her and Poe, laying together, feeding off each others sadness and comfort. She was glad that her sister was the quiet type, who understood the need to just remain here together. And while Lapin was normally far from that type she now was more than ever glad to be able to experience it and have Poe there to act as her grounding force.

"Take care." Syn told her sister with a nuzzle. "We will be awaiting your return." As she watched her sister go for the first time Syn suddenly realized the feeling that Mercy and their father must have felt every time she had left them to go on an adventure. There was a mix of pride, worry, fear, happiness and sadness all mixed together. She wanted to rush after Mercy, to accompany her and make sure that she made it to the place safely. Perhaps she would have done so had it not been for Lapin and Poe. Her daughters needed her now more than ever to help them get through this rough time in their lives. Turning she made her way over to the two foals and gave them both loving and reassuring nuzzles. "Come my little ones, let us find a quiet place to sit." Using her nose she encouraged the pair to stand. She would take them to a small clearing that was not far away and see that they were given the time they would need and answer any questions they might have in regards to what had just happened and what would happen in the days to come.

None of his family had said a word to him - the silence was welcome. He knew what laid in store was going to be a storm of words, so to him this was the calm before it. Even so his throat felt tight and dry. He wanted to cry a little. Stupid. Stupid friggen not fair why couldn't he just have bigger wings and be better at sneaking spirits help him aghhhhhhhh -
He managed to blink them away before Mercy came to say goodbye to them, mouth set. He knew it wasn't Mercy's fault, but he still wanted to blame her because it made him feel better. Yet when the mare leaned to nuzzle him goodbye, Falcon couldn't help but return it with a sigh, ears folded back. "Better come back safe. You owe me stories," was all he could make himself mumble to her, letting a wing brush against her legs before she left.
And then minutes later she was gone, a pale figure trotting away in the distance. The gathering was dispersing now, which meant . . . Ho boy. Here comes the storm.
