With a little bit more of nudging and shoving, it was one thing to have a square portal, it was another thing to have a square portal that could exactly fit a perfectly circular table.
The appliance finally lurched, shook a bit-
- And finally topped over the ledge right into the portal of infinite darkness, probably to be seen again in the very evitable future. The portal also firmly closed right after the table.
Leaving the trainees stranded. At Home Depot. As they turned around to most likely ask their mission leader what to do, they would notice, with no real surprise here - seriously? was anyone surprised at this point - that he too, was gone.
Only quick thinking and reflexes from at least one trainee in the group would save them from detection of the local authorities as they escaped through the back emergency exit - thankfully only a few feet away. It would take a little longer to wait for the crowd and traffic to clear around the parking lot so they could return back to their portal: in fact, hours later before someone fetched them.
And by the time someone did fetch the trainees, the assigned Moon Hunter was more than happy to direct them to a table placed right in the center of the Deus Ex Machina training fields. It would take them another five hours to lug the oversized table from the training fields into the appropriate classroom: there would probably be a lot of back pain the day following.
Whether or not the whole ordeal was worth Deryk's new coat, which he received promptly the next morning, was another question entirely. At least he would like to think so. OOC - Congrats Deryk, you are now an intermediate trainee! - All other rpers receive +1 rp points for rping in this rp and another +2 if they went over 800 words!
