"Well it change who I am alright,"Ibara sighed, letting Yuuka comb her fingers through her hair, the one she had not cut in centuries.
"IF learning counts as becoming Sober, I learned something at least," she snickered sadly.

~Yuuka Kazami~
"I guess, nothing I can say will change your mind." sighed Yuuka, releasing Ibara from her embrace. "But you are a fool. They are weaker than you think, those who cast you down for what you did. They shun you for what they don't understand. I know that feeling all too well. Many of us in Gensokyo do."
Yuuka stood up, setting her cup down on an end table beside her, and turned to confront Ibara. "Beings fear those with powers greater than theirs, or rather, they fear their inability to control it. We don't choose to accept this power, or the fear that accompanies it. But we learn to overcome such bigotry and live our lives as we see fit, and not by others dictates and expectations or fears. Such is the destiny of strong Youkai like us!"
She grabbed Ibara's collar, pulling the Oni up off the sofa. "Humans, Youkai, they die all the time! Nothing can change this!" she shouted, tears forming in the corners of her eyes. "What difference does it make if we help them along their journey?!"
((trying to convey some inner conflict Yuuka's having regarding her own longevity. I'd imagine living such a long time, even amongst those like Yukari who've lived even longer, would become extremely frustrating and lonely.))

"Sadly, its probable you won't," Ibara looked up," My mind has not changed in centuries. In my own lone exile, I never got over it."
Ibara looked up at Yuuka, as the youkai explained her own feelings towards the long lived life, and pressures placed by humans plus the such. It seemed Yuuka had had her own harships and concerns about her life. She was looking down, pondering on what Yuuka had said...
Suddenly, the oni was picked up by the collar, but the stoic girl, with her recent experience of being sturdy before all kinds of insults, she let Yuuka lift her up.
Her gaze glazed over with years of harshships. "you are saying it yourself, Miss Kazami," the oni said," If it is no use, then why do you bother helping me?"
"Things like that," she continued," Are contradictions that keep folk alive. When you see no inner argument, you lose any kind of hope to live. Is that the question that keeps you alive?"
"The question that keeps me alive is; If I died now, my punishment would have been too les for what I did. Yes, I am punishing myself. Oni have seen too much for bringing death; I give my kind bad fame, fame they don't deserve."
She begun to boil inside, but she remained collected.

~Yuuka Kazami~
"Because, if I gave up on you..." she eased her grip on Ibara's collar, releasing her, "I'd be giving up on myself as well." Yuuka remained silent for a long while.
"You live...to punish yourself. I suppose any reason to live is worthwhile." she finally spoke, while she collected their cups and tray. "Your story reminds me of another's. A person who was condemned for her 'crimes', though her motives were decidedly nobler than yours." Moving towards the doorway she had passed through moments ago, Yuuka stopped abruptly, glaring at Ibara over her shoulder. "Seek out the Youkai of Light. Maybe she can help you more than I can. Now..." She turned to leave,
"Get out."

"I never said I was nobl-"
"Get Out."
Ibara got her hat, and placed on her head, covering her eyes to hide her distress....She thought she had found someone...but, once again, her past had ruined the bleak hope of companion ship.
"I will take my leave then," the oni stood, and headed out the door," Thanks for hosting me, have a good day, Miss Kazami." The bartender left, leaving small hopes behind her.

Yuuka stood silent in the next room, listening as her guest left. Polite as always, even as she was being sent away...just as so many have before. Tears ran down Yuuka's cheeks. She dropped the tray, sending its contents across the floor. "Dear Ibara, you're such a lovely child, but how pensive, how sad you seem to me. Believe me, were it within my power, I'd take away your history..."
'Take away your history...' echoed in Yuuka's mind.
~~{CHAPTER END}~~ ((In other words, anything posted beyond this point will be on a different day and time. That DOES NOT mean, however, that people can't post here now. Oh, and I -totally- did not just bend song lyrics to suit my own purposes. Really.))
