Natalia slumped in place for a long while, sprawling out in the sands while claws and hard shells rammed against her...she wasn't beginning to feel the weight of defeat as her orange eyes fluttered and her arms pushed to lift her upward. She knew they wouldn't fail this time or any other, she had faith in that.
But she was beginning to feel the weight of exhaustion.

Rain was growing so very tired, she was barely scratching the surface of the shell now. All she could think of was that she had to go on. She had to defend the castle that they all had worked so hard on. But look her, battered and bruised with hardly any strength left.

As the crab jumped around, Mitzi did her best to hold on, still for some reason thinking she could attack it from the top. But between the spikes, and the slimy shell, she couldn't do anything to move towards a weaker spot, and she even felt herself starting to fall off. She finally just gave up, doing her best to fall off in a way that wouldn't get her dissipated, and mostly succeeding.

The sun had never felt so hot before. The wind had never felt so stagnant. Natalia looked up to see Rain still fighting despite wounds or fatigue...and in an effort to do the same the monster crawled forward and grabbed onto a flailing crab leg.
Only to be tossed to the side. "Uuugh, come ON Natalia..."

The momentum of the fight was slowing drastically on both sides, well enough to allow Natalia a successful hit, however little...this was promising.

Natalia getting a hit on the crab finally distracted it for long enough for Mitzi to get back on her feet and swipe at it with her weapon. She got a good hit on one of the legs, and the thing looked like it was about to go down. Hopefully when everything grew, the rest of their team hadn't been too far away, and they'd be able to get here soon and finish it off.

And it looked like Imryn wasn't going to be of much use this time either as she swung out with her claws and missed again. Everyone else was trying so hard and she had yet to land one hit. Great team member, she was not.

Gritting her teeth, Imryn went in for another attack, determined not to fail this time. A brief smile crossed her face at feeling her claws connect with the creature this time, doing a bit of damage. Though it seemed that was enough to stop it... waiting there flying above it a bit nervously while waiting to see if it was going to make another move.
"I think it's dead... or at least disabled..."

"Yay, gu job gyz," was the closest thing to a sentence she could bring forth and even that was barely above a whisper. Her body was bruised up and she was so very tired. Defending a castle from a crab was a lot worse than maggots. At least she could eat the maggots. She hoped Shine wouldn't be too disappointed in her today. That was her final thought before falling asleep.

Whisper had been sure to stay in the background during the fight, knowing that if she went down they couldn't continue on. She really didn't like leading from the back, but it was the best that could be done in the situation. She liked being the first in; the front of the pack. It bothered her that she couldn't defend her group. She may get her chance later on, but she was impatient. Hell, the only thing Wisp had ever had patience with was Natalia. And that did work out very nicely for her...
"Are you guys ok? You look like you all took a beating..." She did her best to look over all of them for and injury that may be really serious, but her ghouls looked alright. Nothing that couldn't be fixed. So instead of panicking, which would usually be her course of action, she gave them all a big hug. Hugs help right?
"I am so happy we are a team...I don't think I could have hoped for a better group of ghouls! Now...lets get ready for the next wave."

With the crab finally leaving them alone, Mitzi collapsed onto the ground as well, panting. At least fighting the jacking thing had distracted her from what had happened earlier, so even as frustrating as the fight had been, she was still in a better mood. "I'll be fine once I rest a bit... I hope nothing else comes along too soon. That crab was a pain." Mitzi looked over at her teammates, a little worried to see that Rain looked even more worn out than the Reaper ghoul felt, and Natalia didn't look much better off either. If this Trial was going to require them to keep defending their castle like this, it was going to get old real fast. At least it would keep her busy for the time being.

THE TIDE COMES IN AND...
It felt like Mitzi had just sat down when the sand beneath her became soft, and then a wave crashed over her. She scrambled back to her feet, spluttering, and then realized with horror that the wave had probably headed straight for the castle.
She turned quickly, just in time to see the dampened sand on one side sag menacingly, with Mr. Starfish starting to slide down towards the ground. "Hey, ghouls, the wave damaged the castle! We need to shore it up before we lose our starfish!"
At least the skull, and Rain's eyepatch for it, seemed to be unharmed.

At first Rain was excited for the water. She had learned not to be afraid of it once she went overboard on a ship. She found that she couldn't drown! However, her excitement soon turned to anger when she noticed the sand castle beginning to slip away.
"NO WAY MISTER WATER, NOT TODAY!" She ran towards the part of the castle that had taken the brunt of the damage and began trying to stabilize it by patting the sand back together. "Water Water go away, come again yesterday."

"Oh Mr. Starfish, you are a little bit crooked. Here, let me fix you back up," Rain coo'ed as she put him more firmly back in place. "We couldn't have much of a castle with out your guiding light.. though I guess star fish don't really glow, but if you could, Mr. Starfish, I'd bet you'd glow REALLY REALLY bright. I just know it!" Rain bent down to kiss the scratch surface of the starfish before scooting back and looking at the castle. Why had the water done this to their precious creation? It didn't seem fair.
