And indeed, Elik was well used to that, and when Adi made for the surface he surfaced right behind her. He might have been tempted to be bad and yank her tail to bring her back underwater, but he figured she had surfaced for a reason.
Instead, he closed his arms around her midsection. "Gotcha !"

Adi squealed in mock-horror when Elik grabbed her, and even though her eyes and nose still stung, laughed and wriggled in his grip. "Hey, not fair!"
Not that she was actually complaining. Just pretending to.

"Oh, that was perfectly fair ! I could have shapeshifted and I did not." He grinned.
"Are you okay, through ?" He asked, wondering why Adi had surfaced so suddenly.

In response to that logic, Adi merely stuck out her tongue. It wasn't like shapeshifting could have helped him that much in the water, once they'd started swimming instead of running. Or so she thought.
"I got water up my nose, and it burned," she answered. "And it kind of hurt my eyes, too. How do you see down there?"

Oh, but he had tricks up his sleeve that Adi was not yet aware of~
"It's the salt, probably. You arn't used to it. Oceans are salt water." He said, brushing a wet lock of white hair away from her face.
"Do you want to go see the other villages now, or do you want to swim some more ?"

"Nobody told me saltwater hurt," Adi pouted, but the expression was quickly replaced by a smile when he brushed some of the hair out of her eyes. "I'd like to go see them. We can come back and swim some more later."
And she would remember to be more careful about breathing in the water.

"Sure." They had all the time in the world, anyway... It could not be past mid-morning by now, as his sudden awakening had come out quite early indeed.
He started to head toward the shore, careful not to outpace Adi too much.

As they emerged, even more ocean weirdness quickly became apparent to Adi. It hadn't felt all the different when she was in it, but as she came out of it, her skin felt a bit...strange. Sticky. She frowned a little and rubbed her arm, observing, "My skin feels funny."
Nonetheless, she collected her clothes and put them back on. She should probably not wander around Teldrassil naked. Wet was fine, though.

Actually, the night elves probably wouldn't even blink if Adi decided to wander around naked. In fact, naked had been a pretty common state of being before the alliance.
Mostly, he just did not want to earn more teasing from his aunt that he already would get.
After Adi was done, he led her back toward the portal, and then through Darnassus, exiting through the entrance this time.
"It is... I mean, I know how it happened and all, but. This place was dying when I left it... And now it's almost as if nothing had even happened."

Ah, if only Adi had known! But it was probably best that she did not. If she were to get into such habits, it might be a problem back home. And, well. There were other things to consider, like gravity and physical activity.
The second trip through the portal was met with as much enthusiasm as the first. It was likely that, at some point in the future, she would run back and forth through it just because she could.
"I know what you mean, kind of." She reached out to lightly touch his arm. "The Pantheon was...there was lava."
That summed it up pretty well.

"...Lava ?!"
That was ******** up. Seriously. "Yeah, that doesn't sound good at all." They'd never gotten lava here !
The forest was bright and alive, and animals could easily be seen from the path they were on - clearly not fearful of their presence at all.

"It was awful. My Uncle Ea's forest was the only place really left alive." In truth, it was only since Harmodius' return that she'd actually seen the world really alive - things had already been on the decline when she'd been born. But referencing that might give away something she didn't want Elik to know just yet.
And anyway, that was depressing, and she would rather look at the animals than dwell on it. "I'm just glad everything's okay now."

Thankfully for her, Elik was - as usual - clueless. "Yeah, things got really bad here too. Teldrassil withered. There was nothing but dead grass and a floor of blasted branches when I left." Those who had not seen the world tree as it was dying under Gehenna often did not understand why he and Illisia had agreed to break off from all they knew and leap in the unknown.
But back then... It had been the only lead they had.

"That sounds awful." It was hard to imagine it being like that, after seeing it the way it was now. Everything was alive, and beautiful, and amazing. "I'm happy Glyph could help fix it."

"Im glad, too..." From what he had heard, the tree had recovered some after Gehenna, but the downward spiral and slow decay quickly overtook the sudden bout of vitality.
In the distance from the path, there were a line of headstones - which for now, Elik planned to avoid. His family had been laid to rest there, save Illisia, who never would. He would come later, without Adi, but for now his focus was on his girlfriend.
...That was a little weird to think about.
