Tomlin continued to run, mostly dry but hampered by the crush of larger feet stomping around him. It was hard to keep track of who was where, friend or enemy when they were just a forest of legs. The path was welcome, and he sped up again, hugging the edges where he could to avoid the other racers, and the worst of the churned mud.
His choice of direction had more to do with avoiding the bigger patch of mud than any real preference. He veered left around the deep-looking puddle, and since he was already pointed in that direction, continued down the left-hand path. The energy source was *ahead*, and having made it through the first stretch of rough terrain, he was reasonably confident that even if his chosen path didn't take him where he needed to be, he could go bush-bashing again further on.

Running through the woods, on something of a high after that amazing jump of his, Benitoite continued through the woods. A few trips here and there, and his hair got caught and pulled by branches. Cursing as he caught brief sight of a leaf in his hair, lovely. He'd have to pull that out later, as gently as he could, he didn't think leaves would come out of his hair when he powered down.
When he came to the fork, finally, he took the time to yank a leaf out, that was half in his face, and looked right then left then right again. Which way? Finally he decided to head left, no real reason, but he needed to pick one direction so he just headed left. If he let himself continue to think it over he'd be standing here all night pondering which way to go. So he went left. Down the path he picked up his pace, not wanting to be left behind those ahead of him. Jumping over a mud puddle, and running he tried to pick the most solid parts of the path, so his heels didn't sink in too badly.
Maybe it was a good thing he didn't see who was ahead of him, maybe not, but for now he didn't see anyone he simply sensed the senshi ahead of him. Felt like quite a few people were ahead of him, something he hoped to correct.

(Rolling to determine the LEFT path) Two paths diverged in the woods. . . Path Number 1/RIGHT Those going down this path quickly find themselves moving down a slopping hill. As the trees start to clear you can vaguely see yet another hill coming into view. But this was just not any plain ol’ boring hill. This hill was mostly rock face, with a steep cliff facing them. It would be difficult to climb up without equipment. As you move along the rocky wall, you find a cavern. It is pitch black inside, but you can hear the faint echo-y dripping of water, which suggests the cavern is deep. A sign is posted outside the mouth of the cavern, “Albertsons Cavern Trail.” You cannot tell if the trail in the cavern would go straight through to an exit. You can sense a strong aura is near however, maybe just on the other side. Do you take a risk and go through the dark cavern (sure to be faster), or go the long way and walk around the hill (safer)? Characters On the Right: Ganymede Oberon Lesath Hypnos Fukalite ThuleFor the Cavern It is pitch black inside. You’ll have a hard time seeing where to go, and for the most part will need to rely on your sense of touch and hearing. It’s cold and damp inside, shallow puddles of water are everywhere. Stalagmites hang from the cavern ceiling. If you’re not careful, you might smack into one. Roll 5! 20 dice. The first three are your speed score, the last two are how well you make it through the cavern, i.e. damage deductions. For Going Around It will take longer, but at least you can see where you’re going! There’s still tree branches to look our for, and you’ll have to watch your step less you hit a rock, but it’s sure to be less dangerous than the dark. Roll 3! 20 dice. The first two are your speed score. The last one is your deductions. Path Number 2/LEFT You find yourself on a path leading up hill. As you come to the top of your summit, you can see across the whole park almost. From a distance you can even make out the flashing lights of fire trucks parked near where the picnic was set up. And from the top, you can see a strange glow radiating from way down below in what appears to be a swampy area that hugs the surrounding hills. But how to get down there? The hill’s edge that leads directly downwards is steep and muddy. To go that way would be fast, but you’d likely slide uncontrollably down and risk injury. Is there another way? As you look around, you notice an old bridge that desperately needs to be replaced. The rotting bridge crosses from your summit to another, and from there you can just make out a set of stairs built into a gentler cliff. This would take longer, but you’re certain it is safer. Characters on the Left: Maia Remarque Minkowski Athene Mica Tomlin Benitonite BabylonDown the Hill The muddy slope proves to be treacherous. With each step you can feel the earth sliding under you. As you move down it’s hard to keep steady, with you need to do, otherwise you might tumble down and smack into who knows what on your way. Roll 5! 20 dice. The first three are your speed score, the last two are how well you make it down, i.e. damage deductions. For the Bridge and Stairs This seems like the safest way to go. However, the bridge is made of simple rope and aging, rotten wood planks. It creeks and swishes as your move across. There’s even a few planks missing. If you’re not careful, you might get your feet caught in the decrepit wood. Roll 3! 20 dice. The first two are your speed score. The last one is your deductions. AS BEFORE: You Choose your path! If you have not used your extra 10-dice roll (to either deduct from another on the same path, or to boost your own score) you may still do so. Add the score for this round to your total. I.E. ( (x+x+x) - (y+y) ) + z = new total.

The walk up the hill to it's summit was no easy task, not when you were in any sort of heel, but the Captain made it up. He wasn't going to permit himself to give up on the task he'd set for himself, he would get to where that meteor had landed. He needed to get there and see what was there, why he felt such energy. If it weren't for this sense of duty he'd have taken the time to properly appreciate the view, and he might even come back at another time to do just that. It might even become a painted scene, but not now. Now he looked at the ways he could go and sought to make the best choice, again if he stood and thought too long he'd start going back and forth.
"Which way..." Looking to the bridge he turned then to the swampy path. Finally he had decided and on slow and shaky feet he headed down the muddy, slippery, path. He slipped a few times, each time managing to get to his feet before slamming into anything. It was by some miracle he didn't slid or tumble all the way to the bottom of the path.
When he had finally reached the bottom he had a headache, from the jarring fall he'd taken where his head had hit something and teeth had clicked together a little too hard. But he was at the bottom and slowly got up off the ground, he'd just finished falling and sliding the short remaining distance to the bottom, his uniform was a mess and really he wanted to just have someone hose him down with water but that simply was impossible. Groaning as he looked down at himself he shook his head and took off, he had something to get to, and the sooner he got there the sooner he could get home and shower!

Athene’s fears about perhaps finding himself back round by the beginning of the woods seemed to prove groundless as he found himself gradually making his way further and further up a hill. As if to further suggest he was not heading on a one track route back, the dark-haired senshi thought he could make out flashing lights from somewhere behind him when he paused briefly when he thought himself near the top to catch his breath before pushing on to the very top.
It was the glow that Athene noticed upon finally reaching the top of the hill, the strange light coming from somewhere down below. At first glance going down the hill seemed the obvious way to get to it – and most definitely the most direct, although the dark-haired senshi wasn’t sure he liked how steep the slope looked, especially as it was also covered in mud. Not that he particularly cared for the half-dead bridge that seemed to the only other alternative.
In the end Athene decided that he’d take his chances making his way down the hill, rather than risk the rickety-looking bridge.
It was slippery, horribly slippery and much much steeper than the dark-haired senshi had given it credit for as he slip-stumbled his way down while doing his hardest not to lose his footing. There were some truly awful bits, however Athene managed to somehow make it down the hill without completely losing his footing – something the dark-haired senshi was thankful for as he continued to press on in search of the meteor.

At first glance, just running down the hill seemed like the best idea. The bridge? Looked ******** ancient. He had no idea if it would hold up at all and honestly had no intention to risk it. The hill? That didn’t look so bad.
Oh, but it was.
Remarque was a city boy, whose experience with nature extended to his backyard. Maybe once or twice he’d been dragged on a nature trail, but this? This was no ******** trail. Whatever speed he’d had, he immediately lost the moment he hit the slope.
Except for the part where he lost his footing and caught his elbow on a tree, and then there was that white hot pain that seared up his arm to his shoulder—and then, well hell, when you can’t see and are still moving forward, you tend to run into something else and—hello, tree.
Pinballing between trees for a fair few feet down the hill, it was only afterwards that he hit an overfriendly tree almost face on that he was able to regain his footing and move forward—at a significantly slower pace. He took satisfaction that—though he was very bruised and shaken—and knicked and scratched—he had not fallen.
Just been seriously beat up by a bunch of trees.

Hills were treacherous territory, even more so than the forest had been. Maybe there’d been a lot of uneven ground back with the trees and the undergrowth, not to mention all manner of twigs and roots to trip over in his haste, but going downhill in heels was more difficult than navigating mostly flat terrain. Ganymede felt somewhat unbalanced and was forced to slow in order to prevent himself from tripping, falling, and tumbling the rest of the way down.
The hill and rocky face that soon approached were a bit less welcome than the stream had been before, and far more unwelcome than finding the trail. He saw the cavern and slowed even more to consider his options this time. He didn’t particularly like the idea of slipping inside to make his way through the dark. He wasn’t exactly a fan of pitch blackness, though he’d never admit to being scared of it for fear of embarrassing himself. No, no, he wasn’t scared; he was just uneasy, that was all. He was almost eighteen years old—way too old to be giving into a childish aversion to the dark.
But he couldn’t help it. He’d lived in the city his entire life. He was used to lights—everywhere, all the time. The pitch black cave seemed endless and enclosing in comparison, and he wasn’t sure he could trust himself to make it through successfully.
Ganymede looked along the rock face and wondered how long it would take him to make it around the hill. Probably longer than going through. At least going through should be a straight shot. Theoretically… maybe… hopefully…
Muttering a few choice swears under his breath, Ganymede threw all caution to the wind and entered the cavern. It was indeed very dark. He almost turned around as soon as he was inside, but he was pretty sure he knew which way Oberon was going to go, and the thought of being taunted and teased by his boyfriend’s kid brother should he fail to make it through this did not sit well with him at all. He was going to handle this in a totally mature and exceptionally grown up manner.
He decided going through as fast as possible was his best option. Keeping his arms out to feel for walls or anything obstructing his path, Ganymede broke out into a run again. He made good progress at the start, splashing through a few puddles but otherwise experiencing very few problems. Halfway through, however, his luck seemed to slowly run out, and he crashed into walls and rocks hanging in his way, earning quite a few bumps, scrapes, and bruises in the process.
He continued through the dark of the cave, muttering “I hate my life, I hate my life, I hate my life” all the while.

"Woah!! Where did this cave come from?!" Oberon let out a shout in excitement as he powered his way down the path on the right. He had lived in Destiny City almost his entire life, so he was always surprised when he discovered things he didn't know before. He would definitely have to come back to explore more carefully at some point!
But for now there was a meteor to get to, and all these adult senshi and other people were running towards it as well. He hadn't really noticed before, but there was some kind of dark energy emanating off of some of those whom were running towards the sight as well. Some of them seemed to be senshi, but was it possible to be a bad senshi? Ganymede had told him about the dangers of the city before, but he wasn't really expecting to... well... find out that he was right!
Even still, Oberon made his decision, lifting a hand to wave to Hypnos as she decided to take the path around instead of going in. "See you soon!" he called, before darting into the darkness.
It was wet and the foot steps of those around him made the walls echo, making it difficult for him to see just who was ahead of him and who was behind. Of course, there was nothing he could do to stop himself from slipping on some of the wet rock that was covering the cavern floor.
"Ssssshh--" he nearly cursed, pushing himself up from the ground and sitting back on his bum for a few moments as he tried to assess the damage. His hands were all scraped up and he was sure his knees were as well. But he could definitely hear others behind him, so all he could do was push himself up to his feet and keep going. Hopefully he would find the other end, and it wouldn't just turn into a dead end...

Given the choices to either go through the cave or go around the hill, the answer was sure to Hypnos. There was no way in Ixion that she was going to go through that cave. She knew there was definitely something in there waiting to get her just like the last time she'd gone into a cave and to make it worse there was definitely no Ixion here to save her! What would she do if she fell? Everyone was too busy with the race to possibly help her, and what if there was a hole... what if there was a monster in there ready to grab her? The undead souls of the doomed ready to get her? Oh no, oh no, oh no. The fear was written clearly on the child's face. She was NOT going through the cave, she'd just have to be faster going around it.
She backed away slightly, quickly finding Oberon in her sights.
"I-I'll see you on the other side!" She yelped, quickly turning her face and making her run around the hill. Squish squish went her slippers, but there was no screaming and there was nothing grabbing her with the intent to pull her deep down into the underworld where she'd spend the rest of her life with skeletons dancing around her. Okay, so maybe she had a bit of an overactive imagination but the fear certainly had her running pretty damn fast. Not only that but she hadn't even ran into anything! She was determined, she just wanted to get away from the cave and get to the fallen star!

It didn’t take long for Fukalite to find herself going down a sloping hill. She could sense the gravity working on her body as she attempted to speed forward. Rather than slow down, the lieutenant chose to keep plowing on until she passed a group of trees that broke into a clearing. Light green eyes looked up at yet another hill, except this one contained a rocky cave. She raised an eyebrow as she gently slid forward to examine the area more closely. One hand grazed against the rock wall until she discovered a cave. Fukalite smiled. Well. She certainly wasn’t afraid of the dark, that was for sure. There were no regrets as the lieutenant hopped into the black.
It was wet—how unfortunate—and stalagmites all over the cavern. For the most part she managed to weave through, but it wasn’t surprising to find the lieutenant somehow tripping and crashing into the walls. Hmph.

Fearing he was wasting too much time, Ganymede tried putting an extra burst of speed into his steps, though he remained cautious still. The dark and his growing discomfort were making it difficult to breath—or was that his corset? He couldn’t really tell anymore, but all this running was taking a lot out of him, and he dreaded the idea of actually having to fight if it came down to that. He would if he had to, of course, because Oberon was around and he’d seen the brat talking to another little kid, and if any of the dark energies he felt vying to reach the meteor first turned on them, Ganymede would lash out in a heartbeat.
It seemed important that he should make it through and reach the scene of the meteor before anyone else—the agents of chaos definitely needed to be kept away from it, and he didn’t think he could really trust many of his allies with whatever it was, since he hadn’t seen anyone but Oberon that he recognized—though he wondered how likely it would be for him to succeed. He could still feel it, that strange power that was neither good nor bad but definitely there, and he ran through the darkness in a direction he thought would take him to it.

The hill was hard going, but the view was worth it. The cat paused at the summit to get his bearings, the distant meteoric glow and the terrain still to cross. It was quite beautiful, though if that really was swamp out there, Tomlin realised he was going to struggle. His smaller legs were not ideal for such a soupy surface.
With that in mind, Tomlin avoided the equally muddied hill, and headed for the bridge. It was time he turned his size into an advantage. The ropes were old, fraying at the ends, and the slats of wood clearly wouldn't bear a lot of weight. Neither observation was of concern to the small guardian, but some of the missing planks had left wide gaps which would take a bit of careful leaping to clear. He took off at speed, bouncing along the swaying structure like a platform game, his light paws barely settling on each plank before he leapt again.
He was across in no time, and the bridge no worse for his passage. That just left the long stairway down. The cat began the long descent, trotting down the stairs and trying to keep the meteor's position fixed in his mind.
