'Timothy" the quirk didn't have the proper charm. It was a lousy name and was downright insulting. Timothy, really? Shikaku must have been upset to call him that, even if it did sound more fancy schpantsy. Still, noone called him that and got away with it. Just before they got out of the main dining area Timothy the jerk turned and snapped at 'his lordship'. "I wouldn't buy your father's clothes if they were hewn with gold! Now I'm sure you must be embarrassed your dinner guest is forced to wear such cloth but you already know why I have no choice." He then motioned towards the private seating as if to say "you're move".

The tuxedo manservant placed his hand on Timothy's shoulder and snarled quietly. "Sir, if you cannot restrain yourself then you shall be asked to leave. You are fortunate we even let you through those doors, but we understand recent circumstances." At that he turned on his heel and walked away, snotty as ever.

A very slight snicker escaped Timmy's lips as he took his seat. Noone could hear of course, they were far enough away and the dinner guests had already resumed their discussions, whether they were new discussion material or not didn't concern him. "Lighten up kiddo, what's with the face?" He was of course referring to the disguise, but even quirky individuals knew some tact. "It's almost as if you don't trust me." You will pay for calling my Timothy. He kept his thoughts private, and tried his best to keep his tone friendly. Doing his best impression of a nobleman, something he had gotten much better at in recent months, Timmy looked over the menu. "Hoooweee look at these prices. Good thing you only graduate once in a lifetime or my new funds would go straight down the-" A waiter approached them with an order slip and Timmy quickly resumed his act. "-and they say my new place should only take a couple months as long as my checks are good. As if they wouldn't-"

"May I interest you in our specials sirs? For wine we have some fresh imports from the grand fields of the fire country."

Shikaku was satisfied that all was going well as they were lead to their seat, but suddenly, unexpectedly, Timmy broke the act. Well, not entirely, but he definitely took it in a direction that was certainly not beneficial to them, and he couldn't understand why. Not that it was easy to understand Timmy at the best of times. He could be pleasant as could be one second and a snarling beast the next, over the most seemingly inconsequential things. Most of the time, Shikaku just did his best to ignore it when it happened, because it was usually over as fast as it came on. "Control yourself!" the boy hissed as the waiter walked off, sweeping into the curtained seating area before Timmy as if turning his back on the man in a huff. Once the curtain was closed though, the boy allowed himself a snigger. It was hard keeping up the act without that, and he was glad they were given the private booth. And then Timmy started the usual banter, only to be interrupted as a waiter arrived. A new one this time, and offered them drinks. Despite the fact that as a civilian he would currently be too young to drink, Shikaku decided to play along that line.

"Fire country?" the boy sniffed haughtily. "Only the finest from Rice country will do." Even Shikaku knew that the largest exporter of fine wines and liquor was Rice country, due no doubt to their abundance of rices and other crops used in the wines. Their high altitude and humid atmosphere apparently lent itself well to the crops. "We will signal when we are ready to order." he added on, waving the waiter off and picking up the menu set forth on the table as a show of beginning the search for food. He had it on good authority that nobles always took their time ordering, despite the fact they always knew what they wanted before they even left home.

Once the waiter had left, Shikaku dropped his open menu to the table, chuckling again as he decided to respond to Timmy's half finished statement. "Don't forget you promised to treat me after my first C rank, and promotions too." he grinned, looking down at the menu and back up a moment later. "Oh, and it doesn't count if you don't pay for it."

Giving his full attention to the menu in order to let Timmy steam after that crack, Shikaku briefly scanned the dishes, before scanning them again, and a third time. "I don't know what half these things are, and most of the rest sound disgusting..." the boy whispered so that nobody outside the booth could possibly hear. "Fish eggs, live snails... Live octopus, raw fish... Are rich people insane?" The worst part was, the more horrible the dish sounded, the higher it's price tag. The highest priced item on the list sounded to him like something he would vomit if he even saw it!

"I thought your appetite would be more refined master" Timmy said sarcastically before looking back at the menu. "They get more profit if they can charge for food without having to prepare it. I thought us poor folk were the only ones who had to eat crap like-" He paused as another waiter passed them with a plate of food. "Actually that smelled pretty good, some kind of fish dish. Kind of like Tuna... Let me see... Ooh the third one down with the inpronouncable name! I want that one!" Truthfully he had no idea what most of the ingredients or preperation methods listed actually were, but he was not one to let the facts get in his way. "I wasn't actually expecting you to graduate... You have to owe me for all the training I wasted on your lack of talent. Seriously you are the only student I had who failed anything that I taught."

Shikaku smirked at Timmy. Refined taste, right. He had long since mastered the art of eating without tasting, as did many orphans. The orphanage just didn't seem to get enough income to feed actual food to the kids. But that didn't mean he was willing to eat something that sounded like it SHOULD have been on the menu. The menu being the list of terrible dishes they were fed. As Timmy spoke of a dish he thought sounded good, naming it as "The third one down with the inpronouncible name", Shikaku scanned the list himself. Unfortunately, that title could have gone to five different articles on the menu. The actual third one down, or the third one down that he couldn't pronounce, or the one above that, because Timmy might not be able to pronounce that one, or another couple down, because Timmy might be able to pronounce some that he couldn't. Judging it by fish, as were the sounds, narrowed it down to three, two of which were raw and one... Not exactly something he thought sounded appetizing. Tuna was a common dish around here, at least if you had money, but it didn't exactly appeal to him.

Deciding he didn't care for any of the possible options that might have been Timmy's choice, Shikaku searched further down until he found something that looked good. Or at least, cooked. "Think I'll take this chicken thing. Looks safe."

Setting his menu down at that, Shikaku turned his attention to Timmy's last line. Owe him for training? "Or maybe you owe me medical expenses, since most of your 'training' ideas put me in the hospital." the boy said, rolling his eyes. That was also probably partly why he'd done so bad in the academy, though not entirely. It was hard to learn Taijutsu with a broken leg from your 'tutor''s private lessons. And he still hadn't figured out what falling off a cliff supposedly had to do with chakra control. He'd sort of always figured that was a followup to something Timmy had forgotten to try and teach him, but was embarrassed to admit it. He would... Ignore, the comment about him graduating. He had been a bit surprised himself, so he really was in no position to be upset at Timmy for it anyways.

Timmy raised his arm in the air for a moment to catch a waiters attention. "Currently we are improving the recon mask, I'm sure you've seen them the ones which look like they are made of glass." His conversation choice wasn't an act, mostly, however he made sure to speak a bit more formally so the approaching waiter didn't suspect anything. "And when the new factory is built I can begin work on some of my own designs." There was enough time between now and the construction of the next factory that Timmy was certain he could get some of his ideas into the loop. The village was very encouraging of young minds, although they were very cautious as well. Most didn't think Timmy could be trusted, for some of his previous designs had caused... trouble in the past. They were able to repair most of the tower before the Daimyo's visit, so it wasn't that big of an issue. If he had proper gear to work with, that would probably not happen again. As the waiter approached Timmy didn't even look up, simply pointing at the menu he had laid on the table, to show what he wanted. He paused his speech however. Sounding like a business leader and a mere idea man was a thin line in recent days, but if he crossed it they would be kicked out in an instant with empty stomaches and Shikaku would be furious. Timmy would remain quiet about Shikaku's training comment, for now, since the waiter didn't need to hear that talk. However It was a fact that those extreme training issues were merely an attempt to ram the learnings into Shikaku's head. Everyone else had understood the wall walking jutsu within a few days.

Walking down the bustling city street, Kane began to notice that as he got closer to the heart of the city, his clothes began to stand out less and less. Women were gossiping in clusters, garbed in extravagant silk kimono's, and even the men were wearing coats equally as flamboyant. A pretty girl with a pair of lips just perfect for kissing, a crane swooping up the side of her sky blue kimono, giggled as he shot a smile at her, which in turn put a scowl on the face of the big-nosed fellow she was ignoring. But he was on duty at the moment, and pretty girls would, unfortunately, have to wait.

Finally arriving at the corner where the Golden Oyster sat, Kane waited outside the two story building for just a moment as he pulled his arms out of his coat-sleeves, leaving his coat draped over his shoulders. Looking down at his tool belt, Kane thought better than to take it off, this was a village of shinobi after all. As he stepped up to the buildings entrance, the doors were opened for him, a common occurrence with fine dining. Stepping inside, Kane wore an arrogant smile as he swept his eyes over the familiar setting. The main floor was large, with booths lining the walls to the right and left of the entrance, and about twenty large tables spaced out around a flight of stairs leading to an open second story. A band of rice-paper, painted with an ocean theme, ran around the walls of the bottom floor, and in the center of each table was a sculpted gold clam, left open and filled with the restaurants signature, Clams in Gold Sauce, a unique combination of a lemon's tartness and pineapple's tangy sweetness. And true to the restaurant's name, everything was covered in gilt, from the tables and chairs to the bannisters of the second floor.

Servants garbed in black livery slashed with gold bustled busily from table to table. it was the lunch hour and, as always, the house was packed. Not a bad time to try and ditch a bill, actually. Before he could take more than a few steps inside, a small man, greying at the temples of an otherwise dark head, stopped him.
"Welcome, young-master Hyoko, it is a pleasure as always", the man said with an oily smile, wringing both of his hands together as he half bowed towards Kane, "will you be taking your family's usual table then?"

"Not today, Hamaguri San, I'd like to have a table upstairs today, I think. One where I can see down here, if you please", Kane replied, a self-satisfied smirk playing on his lips. With another half-bow, Mr. Hamaguri walked over to the hostess and whispered a quick word into her ear. Motioning for Kane to follow the girl as she began walking towards the stairs, Mr. Hamaguri continued to wring his hands as his gaze followed Kane up the stairs and to his table.

Shrugging out of his coat, Kane draped it over the back of his chair before sitting himself. Looking out over the room below, Kane's gaze picked carefully through the room's occupants as he sought out his targets. Before he could see them, Kane was distracted from his search by the arrival his waitress, already carrying a small bottle of sake. Setting down the bottle and plate full of fresh steamed dumplings, the waitress took a folded piece of paper out from her sleeve and handed it to him before saying,
"Mr. Hamaguri sends his thanks."

Lifting a curious eyebrow, Kane flipped open the paper to reveal a note.

I assume that you were sent here because of my request. The two young rapscallions are in a private booth in the back, but their food has not even been prepared yet.

Folding the note back, Kane slid it away as he leaned back in his chair and drummed his fingers on the table, his expression thoughtful. If he had to wait, he might as well enjoy himself, and with that he poured himself a small glass of sake and popped a dumpling into his mouth. Every now and then he would look towards the entrance, but Kane paid little mind as he enjoyed his food. If they hadn't even gotten their food, he would have plenty of time. After all, they had to dine before they could dash.

"I've always wanted to try one of those." Shikaku replied to Timmy's mention of the recon masks. It was an honest truth, and as an afterthought, not something one would technically expect of a noble's son... "Father says it's undignified though." he sighed, lowering his head. Yes, that should throw off any odd looks. Children, even rich ones, were often expected to want to try neat new things. The statement that Timmy would be able to work on his own designs though? That was worrisome, especially if he wasn't joking. Timmy, plus a lab with unrestricted access to whatever materials he wanted... The village would be gone in a month.

As the waiter approached, unlike Timmy Shikaku did look up to see him. And in the process, saw past him to something slightly unnerving. 'And there he is.' In the doorway a teenager was being greeted by a member of staff. A teenager wearing shinobi equipment pouches, and a village symbol engraved on a metal backed glove. Just like his own, hidden within the illusion. He had been expecting someone to show up, but not a ninja, and certainly not a chuunin, as the boy must have been at his apparent age.

Tearing his eyes from the ninja after a brief scan, in case the boy noticed him looking with more than the passing interest most people in the establishment would have, Shikaku turned his attention back to the waiter. "I'll try number eight for today." he spoke, folding the menu he still held in his hands and handing it over, as was customary at these places. Moments later, after collecting the rest of the menus from the table, the waiter left, and Shikaku swept the booth's drapes mostly closed behind him, leaving a gap just wide enough for him to see out and tell if that ninja was coming.

With privacy reestablished, Shikaku turned again to Timmy. "So how do those masks work anyways? Do they let you see enemies coming from nearby or something?" Shikaku made sure he sounded sincerely interested in his wording, but he had more than a passing interest in the masks, and Timmy would know he had already studied their various features, waiting for the day he'd be allowed one. That, coupled with a subtle hand gesture pointing out of the booth, and up to where he'd seen the ninja go to the balcony seats, would let the young man know, if he hadn't noticed already, that they were no longer alone. Or for that matter, undetected.

Timmy noticed Shikaku's movement like a bat, which is to say not at all, an unfortunate result of his total lack of sense. Instead he answered his question calmly. "Well I am honestly not allowed to reveal too much, but it pretty much helps teams keep their information straight. It probably wouldn't be that interesting even if your father allowed, but it helps keep the village safe and more importantly means work for me." The time passed quickly between their ordering and the arrival of their food, at least it did to the hungry innovator. His plate was positively awful looking. Not because the food was foul (he had ordered fish after all), but because they had forgotten to put most of it on his plate. There was naught but five individual slices of raw fish with a strip of creamy sauce atop it. He placed his hand on the waiter and snarled. "I requested the full meal not an appetizer" to which the destinguished man assumed his most snobbish expression and declared "That is the full course sir". That was unnacceptable it was a pretty expensive plate already, but they had the nerve not to deliver anything to go with it? Looking at his partner's own food he sighed. It seemed Shikaku had ordered better than him, for he had a decent sized meal. "Alright, I seem to have chosen poorly. I'll keep it, but please bring me a salad." "And what dressing sir?" "Ketchup please"

Shikaku sighed as Timmy didn't even glance out the way he indicated, but disguised it as slight disappointment in the tech being discussed. In fact, the man's statement had distracted him, and it wasn't like the shinobi outside could do anything yet. Not unless they made a scene or left without paying. "Why can't you discuss it? The mask has been available for months. Unless... Are they developing a new one?" Before Timmy could answer though, their waiter returned with the food. Shikaku had to hide a snicker behind his hand at Timmy's reaction to his plate. It was obvious he'd never ordered sushi before. "Never order sushi as a main course." The boy intoned solemnly, one finger up in the air as if reciting a rule of the universe.

Before the waiter could leave though, Shikaku decided to take pity on poor Timmy, and stopped them man. "Wait. Please bring my friend an order of number ten." He had memorized the list before returning it, and at a guess he figured Timmy would like that particular meal. It would at least be better, and more filling, than raw fish.

Rather than leaving though, the waiter frowned, looking skeptically at Timmy. It was obvious what the man was thinking. They didn't want to waste good food on someone they didn't actually expect to pay for it. Scowling, Shikaku decided to take care of that as well. "By God man, if you're so worried about his credit, I'll pay for the meal and have him reimburse me!"

As he spoke, his hand slipped into his pocket and drew out his wallet, slamming it down on the table. After saving every last coin of the allowance orphans received from the village, as well as the money he had saved up from odd jobs he'd done to put himself through the academy, and the occasional bit he'd scrounged from the shopping district gutters, the wallet was in fact very full, bulging in fact, and it made a nice scene on the table for the waiter to gawk at. It wasn't actually all that much for a starting shinobi, but civilian children didn't carry that much, and tramps, as they had been assumed to be, even less so. A rich brat riding on his father's money though? It was pocket change.

And of course, it wouldn't hurt at all that he'd positioned the wallet to be in full view of the shinobi up above. Perhaps he'd assume what he wanted the waiter to assume, and just leave thinking the mission was a sham. Moments later, the waiter nodded, leaving silently to get the requested food, and Shikaku returned his money to his pocket.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. When Shikaku ordered for him Timmy frowned but remained silent. He wasn't sure what had been ordered so hoped they brough extra ketchup just in case. Then he was even more shocked when he slapped his wallet on the table. Not only was it bursting with cash, but the wallet itself was new enough that it didn't raise even more suspicion. He had the nerve to make Timmy pay for anything with such a fat pocket?

When the food arrived the second time Timmy's frown deepened. The nerve of him... They were at a FINE RESTAURANT! The Golden Clam was hardly redeemed for it's... Cheeseburgers. Even so it was a most delicious looking cheeseburger with fries and was only missing anchovies. He was also given a ton of fries and a nice big salad with a bottle of ketchup. His act was already lost when Shikaku suggested Timmy had no money, as well as his clothes and attitude. He simply wasn't distinguished in the way the rich preferred. Dropping his act he dug into his cheeseburger with the upmost enjoyment, and then followed up by mixing his fries and ketchup into the salad and eating that. While he did his best to remain tidy and polite about it he didn't bother stopping to chat. After he cleaned his plate and stacked them on the edge of the table he wiped his mouth calmly and smiled. That was a good eat. He only barely saw the fuming waiter as he approached their table and snapped. "That was the most revolting display I have had the misfortune to see. Here is the bill, please pay and leave we have no need for a tip from you." He slammed the bill on the table, crossed his arms and proceeded to tap his feet. The jig was up. Timmy calmly reached for the bill and glanced at it. 502 gold, 3 silver and 21 coppers. With a sigh he folded his hands a couple times, slowly forming seals in such a way they weren't obvious, and then snapped his fingers. "Okay it's time to go" he said calmly as the waiter raised his hands and started patting at his hair. Moving calmly he stood up, patted the waiter on the back and then sprinted for the exit, dodging the tables and patrons in the crowded establishment.

Shikaku snickered again as Timmy's new meal arrived. He had seriously considered ordering the man the filet mignon, but after being brought to an expensive restaurant, expected to dine and dash, and not even have him pay for it, besides the almost intentional attempts to ruin the act... Well, the man deserved to have his food bought from the commoner's section of the menu. Besides, it was an excellent looking burger.

Finally looking at his own food, the boy smiled. Chicken Parmesan was exactly as described. A nice chicken breast with creamy sauce and stuffing. Oh was there stuffing. They had been nice enough even to add extra stuffing on the side. Eating the chicken itself first, he was pleased to find that it was perfectly cooked. Not chewy, but very moist. But the stuffing was the real treat, and the reason he started with the chicken. Nothing was going to get in his way of that delectable bread product. The orphanage had stuffing at thanksgiving, but it wasn't that great, and he barely got any of it. Still, it was the best part of the meal by far, even if he did only get the scraps. And this? This was his very own stuffing, not cooked in a nasty dry bird, but soaked in delicious sauce.

Needless to say, he took his time wolfing down the stuffing. But with his now much smaller than Timmy's meal, he still managed to finish first, with plenty of time to lean back and enjoy the aftertaste. It was so good that he only watched with middling horror as Timmy devoured a meal that he had by his own accord made worse than anything the restaurant could possibly offer. But, as the man neared the end of his meal, and he could hear, and sometimes see, the furious looks and comments being sent their way, he knew it was time to get out. Timmy was not a good escape artist. His plan was most likely to set fire to something and run for the door. If that happened and Shikaku was still around, well, Timmy might bust his way out, but Shikaku was doomed, and would actually have to pay for the meal. And any extra beyond his funds in manual labor.

Taking a sip of his drink and setting it down again, the boy 'accidentally' lost his grip on the glass and sent wine spilling over his trousers. (The waiter had taken him seriously and actually brought them the Rice country wine. Apparently they had fresh nonalcoholic brands for young patrons.) Jumping up, the boy spat a vulgar, for a civilian curse, and swiped at his pants with a napkin. "I'm going to the washroom." he muttered to Timmy after several unsuccessful attempts to wipe the liquid out.

Leaving the booth, the boy made his way across the restaurant towards where he had seen the washrooms when they entered, watching as he went for that other shinobi, among other things, and patting at his pants with the napkin still. Entering the washroom he followed an older man in, who as luck would have it, he had just seen pay his bill. The man was apparently washing up before leaving. Or better yet, relieving himself. Shikaku went directly to the sink, grabbing a bundle of paper towels from the dispenser and wetting them before patting himself down more, muttering angrily to himself.

"Why do you put up with him?" Shikaku paused, looking up as the man he'd followed in spoke, leaning against the bathroom stall to wait for a man still inside to leave. "Your friend I mean. Or is he a servant? I'd never have allowed him to accompany me." Shikaku shrugged at that, tossing his bundle of towels into the trash and grabbing another. "Timothy is a good man, usually. But as to why... My father won't let me go out alone. I didn't expect him to embarrass me so badly." he scowled as he finished, shaking his head and angrily patting the moist towels against his stained pants.

The man smiled oddly at him. A mix of pity and... Something else closely related to disgust, but not quite. Apparently he didn't believe it was possible for someone not to expect that man to do something embarrassing. An astute guess really. Before he could say anything else though, the stall opened and an elderly man hobbled out, washing up and leaving. The other man went into the stall and locked it behind him, and Shikaku, now alone, threw his towels in the trash once again. "Well, I'd better get back to him before he does something again." the boy muttered. But that wasn't what he intended at all, as a moment later, in a slight puff of smoke that would be unnoticeable even from the bathroom stall, he was the older man he had been speaking to.

Walking out of the washroom, Shikaku was careful not to touch anything as he made his way across the establishment again. The henge was perfect, but the size was all wrong. If he touched anything, his hands would go right through, since they weren't really there. Passing by near his old booth, he turned the illusion's head towards a sudden commotion, just in time to see Timmy, sure enough, light the waiter's hair on fire and bolt out the door. Shaking his head disdainfully, he made his own way out the door, stepping smoothly around the sudden huddle of waiters who were trying to decide what to do. Looking over his shoulder as he made his way down the street, he saw some head for the restroom, and quickened his pace. If the ninja went along with them he'd find the man and know Shikaku had used a henge. But if he went after Timmy, well, even if he was a chuunin, he'd never catch Timmy. The man may be bad at this, but he wasn't a jounin for nothing.

Passing by a crowd, Shikaku steered to meet them, passing through the middle as the henge dispersed in the chaos, replaced with a small boy equal to Shikaku's own body, but wearing rags. In this form, he took off at a run into an alley. After going down three alleys, up one fire escape, and across a street into another crowd, he would release the henge completely and wander off in a random direction. He was not going to be caught for Timmy's mistake. And he was too good at escaping to be caught, unless he'd been watched from the start.

After walking around, hands in his pockets and subtly scanning the area around him for about five minutes, Shikaku nodded to himself. He couldn't see the shinobi from the restaurant anywhere, and nobody else seemed to be paying him any attention either. He had gotten clear. He sighed in relief as that realization came. As good as the food had been, the knowledge that he could and probably would get caught, and possibly lose his shinobi license on his first day, had weighed on him heavily. But now... What to do? He had graduated the academy that morning, told his only friend, gone to lunch, evaded a chuunin afterwards, but now what? He probably couldn't take missions alone. He definitely didn't want to take an E or D rank alone. He'd seen the mission board, and even had to do some as an academy student to pay for lessons. No, that was a tedium he did not want to take on alone.

So, he continued to wander aimlessly through the shopping district, checking out a few interesting displays here and there, examining some of the cooler looking weapons. He spent awhile admiring the Recon mask and considered buying one of those, since he did have the money and they had recently gone fully public rather than being rank locked, but even that seemed wrong. Maybe it was what Timmy had said. He wasn't allowed to discuss it... Despite the fact that if you went to the right places all the information was available. Did that really mean there was a new model in the works? Maybe that was why the current model wasn't rank locked anymore? But when would they come out? Would they be a lot better than the existing one? Probably, but they'd also likely be expensive, and rank locked at that.

While he was thinking about that, he wandered inside of the shop, and began idly looking over other things they had. Kunai, shuriken, ninja wire, razor wire... Wire could be useful actually. Normal wire could be used to silently strangle an enemy, leaving no evidence, and if done properly, no struggle. Razor wire could also be used for some vicious traps, and if used properly, kill an enemy without them getting near you. And with as little combat skill as he had... Well, he could use some alternative ways of finishing his opponents.

And then he saw something really interesting. Thinking about the wire, he had wandered into the experimental weapons section of the shop, where they kept models that were still in the testing phase, not yet mass manufactured. A steel covered glove, with wire reels built into the sleeve. That had some use if he decided to go the wire route. Grinning to himself, Shikaku picked up the glove and, taking off the glove he already had on, slipped it onto his hand. Unsurprisingly, it was far too big. Trying again with his other glove on wasn't much better. Huffing with disappointment, Shikaku pulled it off again and was about to put it back on the shelf when a hand reached out and snagged it from him, chuckling warmly. Turning and glaring at the middle aged man, who he recognized now as the shop owner, only brought more laughter. "We have one of those in a smaller size." the man offered once he managed to stop laughing at Shikaku's face, only to break up again as the boy's eyes lit up. It wasn't very ninjalike, but he really wanted that now, just as much as he'd wanted a recon mask, or his ninja license.

The man, still chuckling, left at that without a word, headed into the back presumably to fetch the smaller glove. Shikaku waited gleefully, bouncing on his heels for him to come back, and his eyes slid over the wire display again. It had said it had two reels for twenty foot sections, right? Running over he grabbed up one section each of plain and razor wire. Carrying those, he ran over to the counter where the man had just returned, carrying two boxes, one of which he opened to reveal the glove.

Picking up the glove and setting his wire on the counter, Shikaku pulled off his other glove again and shoved it on, grinning as this time it was a perfect fit. "We also have these, they make a nice bundle with that one." the shopkeeper spoke up, picking up what the boy had assumed to be a simple kunai sitting on the shelf. He surprised the boy though, by pushing a button on the side, causing two extra blades to leap out of it. "When this little fella sinks itself in, it hits the switch and shoots out the extra blades. Good for some extra carnage, or even a grappling line." Smiling appreciatively, the man held out the blade to Shikaku as if in offer. The boy just nodded dumbly. He definitely wanted that too.

Saw ya eyeballing the masks too. Grabbed one while I was in the back if you want it." With that, the man opened the second box, revealing a pristine recon mask, along with what looked to be one of the strange radios Kumo had developed recently. "Full set with throatmic already set up." And Shikaku had no physical choice but to nod again. he had wanted one of those for a long time now, and with it right in front of him, being offered? He had no choice but to accept.

Nodding, the shopkeeper took all the equipment and rang it up. "That's five fifty." he stated, looking expectantly at the boy. Shikaku frowned. That number seemed bad. Pulling out his wallet, he emptied it on the counter, slowly counting his coins out as the shopkeeper watched in amusement. He didn't have a lot of gold coins, which were the default currency. He had more silver and copper, coins of lesser value more often found in the gutters. That was why his wallet had been so full more than anything. After seemingly forever of counting, he ran out of coins, finding himself at a solid five hundred. "Umm..." He hummed quietly, looking up hopefully at the man. Taking no pity however, the man simply shook his head. Apparently he wasn't getting any favors despite how nice he'd been so far. Nodding sadly, he started trying to decide what to get rid of, helpfully, the shopkeeper slid him the slip showing all the prices. The glove surprised him. It was the same price as the recon mask... But he couldn't get rid of that. The razor wire he could use less of... But after counting out how much he'd have left to make up the fifty it wasn't much at all, and he didn't want to lower the regular wire as well... And that left, the radio. It matched the missing amount perfectly, and if he was honest with himself, he wouldn't need it just yet. He was unlikely to be on missions with a full radio equipped team for quite some time yet.

"The radio." Shikaku spoke, revealing his choice to the man. With a nod, he opened the box again and plucked the radio out, carefully detaching it from the goggles and sealing it up again. With that, Shikaku's money was swept away into the register, and the gear into his hands. Smiling again despite the loss of his life savings, Shikaku left, perching himself on a bench across the street to examine his purchases. And wait for Timmy. He had no doubt the man would be looking for him soon enough, once he'd lost his pursuers. Probably to try and have him help him out of the mess he'd be in, since his description would make it back to the kage on that stunt.

A rather peculiar whistling echoed through the streets of the village center. The whistler was rather skillful, creating a tune that was a strange mix of cheery and creepy. As the whistling grew louder and louder, the source of the sound was revealed to that of a young woman with a hood over her head and sunglasses shrouding her eyes.

The young kunoichi had her forehead protecter wrapped around her waist, showing that she was a full fledged ninja. She kept her right hand tightly gripping the pack in order to ensure that it stays with her at all times. She needed to make sure that the scrolls, whatever content they had, were delivered safely to the library. She didn't want to fail her first mission as a ninja.

As she was walking through the streets, she saw a peculiar sight up ahead. A young man was sitting on a bench, opening a box and carefully detaching some sort of device from it. Yelena had never seen such a device before, so obviously it caught her attention.

"Let's see..." Shikaku muttered to himself, picking up one of the bundles of wire he'd bought, as well as a slip of paper, apparently instructions for the glove. "Insert wire, and activate mechanism? Seems simple enough. And the switch is... There!" Sliding the tip of the ninja wire into the proper slot, he found the catch and flipped it, letting go of the wire as it zipped quickly into the reel of it's own accord, stopping with only a tiny bit sticking out, enough to get a finger grip on. Very nice. The razor wire quickly followed, more carefully to avoid slashing his hand, into the second slot.

The boy frowned then, as he looked at his fancy new kunai. He had declined the tool puch he'd been offered on graduating, preferring to hide his weapons in pockets, and used his sole kunai holster for his first real kunai, but this one needed to be rather more accessible... Well, for now it'd just have to go in... No... The boy's smile returned as he picked up the blade and slid it carefully into the cuff of his new glove. It was plenty large that the kunai wouldn't interfere with his movement, and tight enough that he wasn't worried about it falling out and getting lost. Perfect.

Well, with that, all that was left was... Shikaku's grin grew wider yet as he picked up the box containing his new recon mask, the current peak of Kumogakure ninja technology, and only just recently made available to genin. This, would be amazingly useful. Perfect nightvision. His own was good already, but this would only make it better. Constant strategical updates from team members on missions, any and all needed information on a target available at a simple command... Having this would undoubtedly advance him from the kid who barely graduated to a true, revered, ninja.

Opening the box, he slowly lifted the mask out, and was about to put it on and start testing it out when he froze. In the back of his mind he'd registered hearing an eery sound growing closer for the last while, and while that didn't bother him, since lots of people in this area enjoyed such past times as whistling eery tunes, the fact that it had stopped just as he began to feel eyes on him, and that they were still on him, well, that bothered him. Slowly, carefully, he lowered the mask back into the box, sealing it back up. Yes, this wasn't the place to experiment with that anyways. Available to genin or not, it was still secret Kumo tech. He'd wait until he got to his new apartment to test it out in privacy.

Slipping the box into his backpack, since he'd worn it today, excited about finally moving out of the orphanage and taking all his worldly belonging with him, he looked up, scanning the area for the person who had been watching him. The crowds were thick though, and he wasn't entirely certain of the direction the feeling had come from, nor whether it was even still there, or just a phantom feeling left over.
