"Well do you consider him like that or no?" Northland while arching an eyebrow even if it couldn't be seen it was just a natural facial reaction. He watched Raust and noticed that the deer fox was happy very happy. It was practically radiating off him. This made him smile.

“Yes he is like a brother to me even though we aren’t related.” Raust nodded happily. He snuggled up next to Northland and laid his head across Northland’s shoulders. He felt Northland’s warmth radiating to him and gave a contented sigh. “You know I could always spar with Moon or Pan and show you how I was taught to fight, but for now I like this a lot.”

"Suppose that makes him an in-law huh? Guess I should play nicer for you dear," He told him while shifting so that Raust could be even more comfortable. "That's fine. Never said we had to get up and go looking for one of them now. We can just relax here till you want to leave."

“In law?” Raust had no idea what one of those was. Still he hoped that Northland would play nice. He relaxed even more against Nothland feeling as though he never wanted to get up from this moment. Nothland was so kind to him. “Ok. I think we may be here for a while then.”

"I suppose you don't know what an in law is either." Northland smiled at him. His little mate was smart and yet had an innocent bliss to the world. "Okay. So I'll do my best to explain in laws. So we are mates right. That means we are one, a couple, a unit, a binding. We have families and us being mates is a bridge between the two families. This makes them in laws. Though I'm not sure why it is called in laws."

Raust followed Northland’s line of thought. He liked the word mates. It made him feel special since he belonged to Northland. He also discovered that there were things that even Northland didn’t know, which Raust found very fascinating. “Northland do you have any family?” Somehow he could jut picture Northland with a bunch of kits around him. The mental image made him a bit sad since he could picture the kits belonging to another fox who Northland might have been close to in the past, but oddly enough it didn’t make Raust angry at all. It didn’t matter if Northland had kits before they had become mates. Raust would love the kits too he was sure of it, after all they would be Northland’s.

"Me? Family?" Northland asked aloud. He never before had thought about it or even considered it till he meet Raust. He didn't even have close enough friends to be considered as family. "Honestly Raust you are my only family. Do you have anymore family besides Moon and Pan?"

Raust blinked surprised. He would have thought for certain that Northland would have a family or at least some foxes close to him like Moon and Pan were to Raust. Smiling he licked the fur of his mate. “Well now I have you. I guess the only other fox that could be considered close is Flora but I’ve never actually met her. Moon told me all about her once though. She knows him and Pan."

"You have me and I have you and for the most part that is all we really need now isn't it?" Northland asked as he rubbed his head against his mates. "So what do you know of this Flora? Is she one of their mates?" He ran his paw over Raust's in a comforting way.

Nodding Raust grinned like a fool at his mate’s question. He felt that was the most important thing. He thought about Northland’s next question and honestly had no idea he looked at the masked fox a bit confused. “ I don’t think so but I never asked. I just remember them talking about her and laughing it was one of the few subjects Moon and Pan got along on.”

Northland nodded in understanding. Females just had an effect like that on males sometimes. "Its a female thing. They have powers that works on males in strange ways," He told his mate teasingly.

“I don’t understand it.” He wanted to shake his head but he was so comfortable next to North he didn’t really want to move. “has a female ever done something to you?” He wasn’t sure how he felt about the idea.

"You don't? Hmm... Yeah I've been in the same sort of situation before because of a female." North said with a shrug. It really wasn't much of a story or anything. He hadn't spent a lot of time around the female it was actually a brief encounter.

(and with this tag I realize why Raust is gay… How did I not see this coming? )
“I don’t really know any females.” Raust blinked innocently. It was true he couldn’t for the life of him think of a female that he knew other than in name. “What did the female make you do?” He rubbed a bit against Northland worried. What if she made Northland do something he didn’t want to do?

(lol its all good. Im actually surprised that North doesn't have kids with a female. He is just kind of a tramp like that really))
"You don't huh? Well that could explain a bit." North mused mostly to himself as he thought about it. Raust could have meet a girl and than wouldn't be his so he was glad that he hadn't. "Oh well you know as males we have high testosterone which cause some of us to fight. Females have low amounts of it and high amounts of estrogen. Anyways me and this other male were starting to get into a confrontation and she kind of defused everything and calmed us down making sure no one got in a fight."
