He tugged the hood of his coat up, covering his ears. When he'd seen the hood the first time he'd stared at Monica blankly, wondering what the jack she'd been thinking, but now he was seriously glad he had it. "Are you scared?" he asked Taryn, a slight frown on his face as he realized that this whole scenario was creepy, and not in a good way.

He hesitated, looking at her. "Would you rather be hiding in a room somewhere? We could find one with a good lock."

Taryn shook her head, not in response to her fear (she was, a bit) but to the idea of staying in a room. The chances of getting cornered and killed (dissipated?) were pretty high when there was no way to escape but jump out the window. Besides, that was a wimpy thing to do. She had survived the haunted house! She was better than hiding...

"I want to try to get out," she said, "or at least to figure out what's going on." When they reached the barrier she put her hand to it again and mushed up her mouth. It seemed so solid, and so mysterious...

It was probably stupid for it to be just the two of them, Roch thought as he stared at the barrier. But, hell, he set odds on the monsters being attracted to larger groups. Or maybe he just didn't want to bother building up an adventuring party. He probably should have left Taryn in the theater while he was at it.

"It ain't FEAR, I don't think," Roch said quietly, reaching up to touch the shimmering barrier. "It's pretty thick, too," he added, holding out his hand and summoning his guitar. "You'd think the rest of Halloween would notice it and be attackin' from the outside or something..."

Which, from the looks of it, was exactly what he planned on doing from the inside.

Taryn had never had to build a big adventuring party, and while it made the most sense to her to gang up on whatever that beast had been, Roch knew what he was doing. He'd been on past field trips, and this seemed pretty similar.

Almost automatically, the ghoul began stepping back while hugging herself. She imagined the sound waves from Roch's guitar bouncing off and killing the both of them on the rebound. It'd be best to stay somewhat out of his way.

"Is it ice?"

"Don't think so," Roch said, bringing his guitar up like a baseball bat and slamming it against the wall. It bounced back, jarring him, but he ignored it. He'd hit his guitar against walls before, it wasn't that new of a sensation. He brought his guitar back again, and again, slamming against the barrier as hard as he could.

Nothing happened. Not even a crack or a chip. All that came of it was sore arms.

Taryn had imagined some kind of exaggerated bwoooooong, but instead there was a dead, hollow nothing. How disappointing. It must not have been ice, or it would be raining, right? Unless it was that cold...

The ghoul held herself a little tighter and nearly pressed her lips to the barrier, blowing a plume of fire directly into it.

...?

"Nothing, huh? We'll need to find another way through..."

"Did you just... kiss the wall?" Roch asked curiously. "I mean, I ain't judging or anything, but... does this mean you two are goin' steady or something?"

Derp. Serious derp.

Taryn arched a brow at Roch and wiped her lips reflexively.

"No? Didn't even touch it..." He had to be kidding, right? There was no way...

"Should we walk the perimeter? Make a trip around the grounds...?" There was always the possibility that everyone else was escaping through some hole they hadn't found yet.

"Sure, yeah," he said, starting to walk. He was glancing at her curiously, obviously planning on dragging this joke out. "Course, if you HAD kissed it, I guess it would be a stolen kiss, y'know, since the wall wasn't all, 'please Taryn, kiss me--'"

Taryns heart skipped a beat at that last bit. What she wouldn't give to hear that under different circumstances! Her mind wandered, and she found she wasn't angry enough to hit Roch, or at all, really. He had unwittingly saved himself. The ghoul was beet-red, and she waked with her head down and her hair obscuring her face.

Right, so this was going to be a long walk...

"That--ah--" he looked a bit startled as she clammed up, a worried expression on his face as he turned to her, leaning down so he was looking her in the eyes. "I was just teasin," he told her. "You can't date a wall, anyway. Now a MIRROR on the other hand--"

Taryn gave a little huff of laughter and mashed her hand into Roch's face, pushing him away. "I know you were joking, dummy."

That hadn't been the problem. "Do you think all of Halloween has this problem...?"

...err. Not having crushes on bad boys who said silly things.

"Kissing problems?" he asked as he was shoved away. He frowned, taking it far too seriously. "At some time or another, I'm SURE everyone had it sometime--"

Then he laughed, shrugging off the joke. "Or the wall thing? Probably not. I'm betting it's ONLY our school, because that's totally how this life goes."
PostPosted: Sat Dec 17, 2011 3:59 pm

"The Boogeys hate us enough as it is, we don't need another reason," Taryn huffed. Why was it always Amityville? Were they unwittingly housing the one true savior of Halloween or something? Bah.

Kissing problems were a whoooole other issue.

He looked at her curiously. "You think they'd hate us for getting stuck in a bubble, too?" he asked. Then he headed for the wall, tapping on it again before slamming his guitar into it for another try. Still nothing happened. "Jackdamn piece of candlewax," he complained, hitting it again. "Give already, you jacktard!"
