Ben wasn't so sure why Lark seemed so shaken, but she was. In order to defend his reaper, the roo lashed out with his thickly muscled tail, shattering one of the beasts ears.

The tangle went dangerously off balance from Kettil's kick, and the familiar's tail thrash had sent it falling to the ground. Its other "ear" shattered under its weight, and the Christmas creature twitched from an electrical charge.
"H . . . a . . . p . . . p . . . y . . ."
It died face up with a smile on its face and dissipated, leaving behind a strong burst of peppermint smells.
You monsters.

"What the Jack!?" He watched as the thing dissipated with a final....word. He glanced over at Lark, "We better get out of here. You alright?" Kettil asked in a concerned tone.
Sure it didn't look like the critter hit her too hard but still!

"M'fine," Lark stuttered, wrapping her arms around one of Kettil's. "Let's jest.. get outta here as fast as w'can." She motioned frantically for Ben to follow as she fairly dragged Ket away.
"Figures this s**t starts t'happen right when y'show up." She sounded disgusted.

 They would not get far, however, for Christmas Unjustice had been witnessed! "FOUL CREATURES OF HALLOWEEN!" boomed a tenor voice from above; apparently those portals weren't always accurate! Lark wasn't at all prepared for the nutcracker that fell from the sky. No, she was feeling just a little jumpy, and so the punch that flew out and jabbed right into the monster's face was done out of pure instinct.
Shaking her hand, she grunted.
"We gotta get outta th'open."

"Definitely," he agreed after a flinch from the minor impact of the hit. He gave a small whistle and suddenly Endzela swooped down and clawed at the creature with her talons before trying to flap off again to avoid getting hit.

The creature did not look happy at all. "YOUR KIND ALWAYS HAS PLAYED DIRTY!" he shouted, rubbing the hole where Lark had punched his nose right off. Well, they weren't going to get anywhere with this jackin' nutcracker in the way. It was so loud and bossy and .. and annoying.
Lark nodded in Ben's direction, and the roo took off. He took a moment to figure out where the weakest point on the mob would be, and finally the roo just indecisively slapped the monster on the arm.
"Tch, nicely done," Lark snorted.

The bald spot on the nutcracker apparently made a nice target as Kettil brought a fist directly upon it.

Smashing the nutcracker's head was not a very good idea; it was quite solid! Still, the infuriated Christmas creature would have tried to live up to his name, but the reaper was far too close to try and aim between his legs. He was about to acknowledge Lark's encouragement with something smartass but then he got bitten by a nutcracker, "OW." This prompted Kettil to kick the stupid thing.
