"A...a concert? Or a song? What do you mean?" If Roch just wanted her to sing for him again then she didn't really mind at all since she enjoyed singing for her friends. A concert, however, was a strange and distant idea that she'd never dared to tread on. Also, was she looking irritated? she hadn't meant to and the worried expression she wore was quickly replaced with a saddened and almost tearful one.
She hadn't meant it at all, but apparently she had a horrible poker face.

"Lots of songs!" he said. "As many songs as you can think of! I'll play when I can, but I wanna hear all you can come up with, screech," he told her. "That voice of yours, it's worth more than any dress on the jackin' planet to me. Prettiest thing I've ever heard. And you, you're one of the sweetest ghouls I know," he told her honestly. "What happened... how you were locked up in your room like that... screech," he hesitated, imagining the horror.
"You know," he said, stopping in the middle of the mall and turning toward her. "I didn't see the point of having fake family in the school. So-called brothers or sisters. But..." He crouched down in front of her. "Would you like to be my fake little sister?"

The time spent in her room, the monster did not really need to be reminded of it. It was a time she would probably try to forget in the coming months.
"My...my voice is not that special. Compared to others I just. . . . I don't think anyone would listen to me anyway, since most of the time my words don't seem to reach them." It was a sad but true fact, as Chuppi had come to realize that most of the people at Amityville didn't see her as a person, but more as a cute little pet. Feeding her? Buying her things? Did people not do that for ani-
Wait. What had Roch just said? "Que....que dijiste? Sib...sister?"

"Sister," Roch repeated. "Look," he said, looking around. "Let's sit over there," he said quietly, pointing to a bench to the side. "I'll tell you something," he went on, heading for the bench and sitting down so he was sideways, one leg resting on it but bent at the knee so she could sit in front of him.
"I was raised in a super poor neighborhood. I learned to play guitar from a drunk skeleton on a street corner. My dad? Worked all the time. My mom? Well, let's just say she had better places to be. I got no family other than a perverted granddad and a workaholic dad. So I might really SUCK as a brother. In fact, I'm POSITIVE I'll suck as a big brother, but I still wanna offer."

Why was Roch telling her his past? Was it because he trusted her or did he feel like he needed to explain his desire to be her 'big brother'? Either way it wasn't needed as the monster gave her answer - a hug around his waist with her face buried against his chest. It was obvious she was crying because her shoulders were shaking with the silent sobs, but either way these were happy tears.
None of her siblings had ever wanted her, she was nothing more than a plaything to them as well. A chew toy for from, a punching bag for others. Roch wanted to be her brother.
Chuppi wanted him to.

He grinned, letting her hug him, one hand resting on the back of her head. "I'll take that as a yes, okay?" he said quietly. "I got your back, lil sister. I got your back."

"Got my back? I have quills on it though." Phrases and slang and common idioms were still not really a part of Chuppi's vocabulary and understanding, but she did think hard on trying to learn. Her voice was muffled against Roch's stomach still but at least her tears were stopping. She'd ruined his shirt by now and would feel bad about that as soon as she came to realize it.
