Eva might have bit back a laugh when Invictus punched Robert. Okay, so it looked like it hurt--she sympathized with him for that part--but the horseman who looked like a small boy just punched Robert, who was huge. The death trainee held a hand over her mouth, and while it may have looked like she was simply shocked, she was--in actuality--trying to force back the giggles that threatened to escape.

Interesting though that these creatures--or Conquest, at least--did not have to eat. At the mention of shifts, Eva lifting her shoulders in a little shrug.
"I'm fine with any shift." She offered. She was flexible, so whether it was first or last shift, it was all fine by her.

"I'll be with Evie," Reine spoke up, clinging to her friend. She looked clearly amused at Robert's predicament, but well... well. He'd brought it upon himself, and at least he'd had the sense not to punch the horseman back.

The life trainee was hoping, though, that she wouldn't be getting the first shift- as soon as she was dismissed, she was hoping to go to the library to read up: something she should have done before, honestly. Even if she wasn't going to be questioning the horseman, she figured it would be good to know something, at least, about him.. or his clan.

Clarice lifted an eyebrow at the subject's response and added, "But if you want to try anyways, there's a padlocked fridge in the kitchens." She practically beamed at the trainees actually volunteering. "Great! There's a clipboard outside the room to sign up for a specific shift, otherwise you'll just get a text. Next shift is in six hours. You guys are all dismissed, but if you have any further questions, just swing by my office or send me a text." She turned back to Conquest before making her exit, and murmured softly. "Robert deserved that, but the next time you give me an excuse to put you down, I will be taking it."

The room above the trainees crackled and suddenly, a voice blaring into the room. "ALL TRAINEES ARE REQUESTED TO EVACUATE THE INTERROGATION ROOM SO THAT THE SPECIMEN CAN BE RELOCATED."

What few trainees were left in the room were quickly escorted out by the other Hunters. Before Invictus could question these actions, he felt his body growing heavier, numb, there was a dull thud as he hit the ground unconscious again.

When the Heir of Conquest woke up, he would notice an oddity: the door was open. Not only that, but the shackles had been removed. There was noone else in sight.

Was this their promise of freedom or was it all a trap on the other side? The stretch of hallway peering from outside the door was both long and foreboding.

THE ESCAPE

- Invictus must escape from Deus Ex Machina without being spotted, as his 'escort' has kindly never arrived
- Roll a 100-sided dice and match your dice roll to the results below. IF Invictus passes out, he will land back in this room at full HP value and have to reroll/try again. Continue rolling until you exit/escape.
- RP out the results of your dice roll as well, though it doesn't have to be long.
- Once you have rolled EXIT, then your char is free to exit and return back to Amityville unharmed, for the most part.
- You have FULL HP VALUE as you start the escape. Please post your updated HP value at the end of each post.

1- 20: Something hisses out from the darkness and catches you off guard: is that an arrow? - 10 HP
21 - 40: The ground seems sharp, spiked, and you trip over the uneven ledging, you could have sworn you saw something curved, the sharp edge of a blade sticking out from the ground.. - 10 HP
41 - 60: There is a whoosh and the giant blade of an axe swings from the 'ceiling' of the hallway, nearly cleaving you in half - 10 HP
61 - 80: You feel as if you are almost there, but in your distraction trip against something on the ground, a dagger embedded into the floor of sorts - 10 HP
81 - 100: The stretch of hallway seems to go on forever, before finally a burst of fresh air. You recognise this place, you are at the Abandoned Town outpost. There is noone in sight, and a portal right in front of you, so you take the exit out... you feel pretty normal, regardless of things that happened. As normal as you can get with those small voices whispering to you all the time. You are free!

Invictus seemed...suspicious of what was going on, really, even as the door was open and he was left...unattended. He looked about the room, eying the walls as though there was one way glass attached to them as he moved towards the door. He didn't step out immediately, putting his hand out first. Nothing. He wasn't attacked for passing through the door... and.....

nothing.

He stepped beyond it and waited again, pausing. Nothing.

It was quiet. Suspiciously quiet. He moved quietly down the hall, watching things as he passed by them. The floor was awkward, sharp, even, underneath his feet. He stumbled in the dark, and for a moment he could have sworn he'd seen.. something. His eyes narrowed, and he moved on.

Sans his one little..mishap, it seemed that they hallway went on forever. It was suspicious, the hallway, and Invictus took all of it in. Long, horrible...and frankly it seemed like destroying it all was not within his power at the moment. But he took it in, he took it all in as he passed through it.

Any detail he could find was noted, stored away. He would hold onto it until he no longer needed it, and then for even longer. This island would be burned into his memory for a long time.

The hallway grew lighter as he passed along it, soon stepping out into fresh air, taking a deep breath as he stepped outside and took in the scene in front of him. This place. He knew this place. He looked over it knowingly and it was perhaps out of his own satisfaction that he reached out with one hand - the wrist scabbed over from the burns, and clenched his fist, crushing one of the nearest walls. A lingering pleasure on his part before he looked to the portal.

It was ominous, that thing, and yet.....

He moved towards it anyways, stepping through it and off to where? No idea, but he was not lingering in the island of the humans longer than he already had.

Robert was not about to go signing things he didn't have to. He bent in to Petra's ear, whispering her a request to sign them both up together, when the announcement blared through the speakers. His hands clenched on the girl in his arms for a moment, the adrenaline pumping through his veins out of instinct, but once it was established as just an evacuation, he released her and stood up to follow the herd out.

So they were moving the kid? Robert didn't even have much of a chance to get one last look at Conquest, before someone was trying to shove him out by force. This failed miserably, but that did not mean Robert wouldn't follow the crowd out in a nice, orderly fashion - and on his own pace. Or, on their pace, since all he cared about was keeping in the group.

Then there was the issue of the boy they were leaving alone. "Nice knowing ya, kid." Robert waved at the horseman, before unconsciously rubbing his face once again. That punch had really hurt. Kid or not, whoever this was definitely packed a wallop - and whoever was in charge of relocating them hopefully didn't put his face too close to test that out.

Only Robert was allowed to be that stupid, thanks.

(exit before horseman shenanigans kthxbye)

Watching the ‘examination’ was an interesting experience. It was much tamer than Davey had been expecting, really. He supposed that either the Horsemen had bargained some terms out of Caelius, or the hard stuff was simply waiting for later. Caelius and Dr H, maybe, doing a more thorough search for information by less friendly means. The ‘interrogation’ was later, Clarice had said. Davey didn’t even need to ask if that was code for ‘torture’ – he already knew the answer, and if the other trainees didn’t know it then Davey wasn’t going to disillusion them. (That would happen soon enough with or without his help.)

The boy, like most of the monsters, was snotty. Arrogant. He held up well under pressure, though, Davey could at least respect that (and the punch to Robert’s face). Well, as much as he could respect any monster, which admittedly wasn’t very much. Davey supposed that Invictus would make a very strong weapon if Dr H decided to go that route. After all, it wasn’t like the Hunters couldn’t ignore whatever promises Caelius had made now that the Horsemen were at their mercy.

Mercy was wasted on monsters. Davey wondered if they’d be informed later as to the eventual fate of the Horsemen. He was mildly curious as the speakers told them to leave. “Sounds like the interrogation is coming up,” he said as he walked towards the door. To Clarice, he said, “Just text me with a shift,” and told himself not to be surprised if there was a chair of some sort ‘on reserve’ for him when he arrived, just like the stupid parking lot and its ‘handicap parking’ space. Davey couldn’t decide if Clarice was serious or just as much of a troll as Dr H. He supposed it made no difference for now, as long as he could still do his job with a minimum of interference and embarrassment. With a last look at the captive Horseman, Davey left the room.
