"A trap just in front of the door? I guess that could be possible," Lattice agreed as she led her friends toward possible doom, "but we do not really have any other option," the Engraver pointed out quietly slowly becoming a bit more confident.

There was a pause, "Wait here a moment I am going to get a better look at the tiles so I can say what is on them for certain," she moved away from the group, not far, and then looked at the tiles thoughtfully for a long moment. "A mask, a spider, a salamander, and a snowflake..."

Did it depend on the order they got away from the erupting tiles or was it simply matching the tiles up to the ones that were present. She quietly paused and looked back at her group before she moved toward Lizzy, "You are the spider so..." She moved to gently grasp the ghoul's hand and tugged at her to lead her toward the spider tile.

Lattice turned toward the other two before she moved to grasp onto Vee's hand, "I think you go on the salamander tile," she uttered quietly and if allowed to she led Vee to the spot she mentioned prior. Lattice paused again thoughtfully before she then moved to get Edel's hand and gently tugged at the other ghoul to get her to follow, "And you're the snowflake tile." Once it seemed like everything was settled she moved to stand on the Mask tile.

As each ghoul steps upon their tile, a soft click can be heard until Lattice takes her place. Lines of light outline a door, which slowly opens to reveal their exit. They leave the chamber with stained clothes, hands...well, a stained everything, really, and...a tag-along?

Their presence has attracted, or perhaps even created, a small creature made of ink. It seems to be rather enamored of the group, and trails after them shyly at first.

The OOC

Inkling GET: this creature likes you guys. Really likes you guys. It will follow you into any room or hub. It LOVES you and wants to be your best friend and would do anything for you. In fact, should someone in the group trigger a trap, the inkling can take the damage for you. It can take damage up to three times. Then it dies. For you.

(It may not be used in battle.)

MOAR OOC
(( CONGRATULATIONS! Your group has successfully completed the challenge! Please wait while I prepare your next room. In the meantime, your group is cleared to go visit your Hub! The Hub is an ORP setting where your group can interact with other groups and Boos. There is a strict no fighting rule in place. Before you post there, though, please post an EXIT post here by putting ((Exiting!)) at the top or bottom of your posts. Then in the hub, please write ((ENTERING!)) if you are entering that area.

When your next challenge is ready and your character is in the hub, please make an exiting post there, and entering post here. I will quote-summon all of you to return here once the puzzle is ready; the puzzle WILL NOT be posted until all group members have arrived.

You may not journey to the Hub in the middle of a puzzle; only after completing a challenge. If you have any questions, please ask them here in the questions thread. ))

As the door was revealed, she raised her arms in order to shield her eyes from the light, which was so blinding to her after spending so much time in that dark room. It took her a while to get readjusted, but once she did, Lizzy smiled, glad to be able to see again.

"Let's go!" She made her way out the door happily; in her excitement, she missed their little tag-along.

When everything went right and nothing crushed them against the ceiling she let out a deep sigh though she turned away from the sudden incoming of light feeling oddly dazzled due to the sudden invasion of brightness even though her mask and natural lack of vision blocked out a lot of it. She was about to go follow Lizzy when movement caught her eye a small inky blob creature seemed to be set on following them.

Lattice's lips parted in awe and almost immediately affection filled her heart as she leaned and offered the inkling her hand.

It hesitated scooting back and staring at her feeling overcome with shyness.

"Come little one, I shall care for you," Lattice said an actual ounce of affection crept into her usual monotone and that seemed enough to win the inkling over as it hopped, quite happily, into the Engraver's ink stained palm feeling quite at home there. Straightening out Lattice turned to follow Lizzy.

For a while, Edel stood still and allowed herself to get drenched in the light. Finally, she could see again. And see how inked up they were.

The frost demon would have intuitively wiped off the stains on ink on her hands, but she remembered that ink was the way Lattice could see them. Making a :T face and then releasing the air from the side-pout, Edel let her hands fall to her sides and strode on after the two who had headed on before her. Apparently, she was a little too tall to noticed that a little friend had joined their company, assuming it was merely a part of the trail of black the ink soaked ghouls were leaving behind.

Lattice did seem to be in a rather good mood though...

The room has no visible exit, in fact, the only thing visible at all is the giant metal tunnel before them that goes up...up....and up, hopefully to an exit. Clouds obscure the top, and thunder rumbles softly through the area, followed by a light sprinkling of rain.

The top of the tunnel is a hundred lengths up. To reach the top you may roll as many 6-sided die as you wish. However, should you roll a 1 at any point, a rush of water washes your student back down to the bottom. They also loose 1 HP point for every 1 rolled. So you can choose to climb of carefully, or rush quickly. When they reach a total of 100 through rolling, they have reached the top and the doors to exit the area.

One particular student has an ability that can enable those who follow after her to reach the top safely.

At the top, you see two doors, and two statues
Upon seeing the group, they speak in unison:

“We are the guardians of the way onward.”

They fall silent. Then the one on the left speaks, “Both of these doors lead somewhere.”

“But it all depends on what you’re looking for,” the statue on the right chimes in, “If it is the way forward -”

“Oh! I know that one!” The one on the left interrupts. “It’s behind my door!”

The one on the right shakes its head. “No, it isn’t. You just want them to go through your door for your own amusement.”

“I am not!” The left statue retorts, “I’m only trying to help! You’re the one who is insisting on confusing them! Besides,” the statue turns towards the group. “Why don’t you lot pick?”

“It is your decision, after all,” the right statue adds with a nod. “Though you may wish to discuss it amongst yourselves; you must agree on one door, and must go through that door and only that door.”

“And we can’t tell you what’s behind the doors, either,” the statue on the left chimes in. “So don’t get any ideas! Just let us know which door you pick. And you can’t ask us any questions, either.”

The right statue says nothing, and watches the group expectantly.

OOC:
You may only pick ONE door, and everyone MUST go through that door.

With an ear-piercing shriek, the salamander ran into the tunnel, hoping to take cover from the rain. The ink from the previous room had mostly dried, crusting over her clothes and making them uncomfortable- that she could deal with.

But she wasn't about to stay in the ******** rain.

Scrabbling around, she attempted to make her way up as fast as possible. The top.. would be safe, wouldn't it? Or would it take her closer to the source of the rain? Shuddering, Vieve tried to think happy thoughts.

Maybe there was gold at the top. Yes. Gold.

There was a sort of strangled wail that echoed all through the tunnel, as well as a SWOOSHHHH and a few ominous-sounding clanks and crashes.

And then Vieve found herself at the entrance of the tunnel again, completely soaked. Wet ink dripped everywhere, and the salamander sat in a somewhat awkward position, dazed by the rush of water

"lsjlafsidjfksd", she managed to say, her teeth chattering. "lkasjflsjfakjf!!!!"

It roughly translated to: "I'M NOT ****************** GOING UP THERE".

((Entering from the hub))

The first thing Edel noticed as she stepped into the room was that it was no longer coated in darkness like before. Strange, she could have swore she had come through the exact same door she had left earlier. Looking down just to make sure, the frost demon noticed that the tiles were gone and instead, they were now confronted with a really, really long tunnel. No ceiling in sight this time.....

The frost demon allowed the drizzle to hit her, taking to it better than a certain fire elemental who was now sitting in front of the tunnel, shivering and soaked wet. Well, one thing's for sure, the light drizzle couldn't have possibly done that.

Are you all right?” came a concerned voice from behind Vieve, “We were looking for you....” From the looks of it, perhaps it was better not to get to close, lest the ghoul really catch a cold from her. Circling around her to give Vieve enough space, Edel made her way to the entrance of the tunnel and peered up through the vent. It was possible, most probable, that their challenge was to make their way....up. From the looks of it, it was likely Vieve had already tried that, only to land up in well.....that state.

What happened, exactly?” was the pointed question the frost demon asked.

((OOC question: Do we have to get an individual 100 per student, or a collective total of 100?))

Vieve turned towards Edel, struggling to stand.

"Does this LOOK like 'all right'?" she hissed, still shivering. At least the water had drained out of the tunnel, leaving it relatively dry; the rest of her teammates were still standing in the drizzle.

Putting her hands together, the salamander attempted to create a bit of fire, but all that came out was smoke.

@#$#%@$!!!

Finally, there was a little spark, and then a bit of flame. Relaxing a little, she let herself absorb some warmth from it, managing to dry herself off a bit. For the most part, though, she was still drenched and feeling extremely uncomfortable.

Jericho had been completely right about field trips...

Glaring at Edel unhappily (she was one of THEM, dirty water-users, hisss), she answered the girl's question snappily. "Do you even need to ask?!"

On Edel's face was this expression: ._.

Well then,” she said, slowly turning away from the crabby ghoul to face the tunnel instead, “let's just wait for the others to arrive....

((ENTERING FROM HUB))

Lattice finally entered the vicinity again holding Inky in her arms not really caring if the little creature made her costume even more ink covered than before there was a certain amount of sloshing her steps made as she wandered in and it made her pause a moment before she looked toward her companions.

Quietly she moved closer, "So much water may I ask what has transpired?" Lattice asked softly wanting a bit more detail about her surroundings. Now she was the blind one and everyone else could see, all Lattice saw was a strange shape that seemed to go up into forever.

Of course she could see the ink covered parts of her teammates but that went without saying.

[Entering from Hub!]

She was sort of expecting darkness again, so when she could actually see what was in front of her, Lizzy couldn't help but heave a sigh of relief; so this was what Professor Red had in mind when she said that there would be rooms that would test their strengths and weaknesses... The first room must had been designed for Lattice, or something like that.

There was something really odd about being a spider, and then staring up at something that looked like a giant water spout.

Pausing to listen to the exchange between Vieve and Edel to make sure that the former was aright despite being drenched, she then then turned to Lattice, "Uh, there is this tunnel thing leading up, but it's too high for us to see where it leads... I think water will gush down from it at random?" She looked thoughtful before turning to address everyone else with a sheepish look, twirling a lock of ink-covered hair with a finger, "I kinda... Uh, well... I can probably climb all the way up. Since..."

This was mildly embarrassing for her; she had only showed three people her newly found natural ability! Now it's three more - granted, Lattice would probably be unable to see it, but still!

There was the sound of fabric being stretched and perhaps ripped - it was hard to tell - followed by eight spider legs sprouted out from her back, curling around her. They looked like a lot of weight to carry for someone as petite as Lizzy, but she did not seem bothered, "There is something really weird about me being a spider and climbing up that though."

Her attempt at humor was probably a failed attempt.

GM ACTION POST: THE ???

"And what do we have here?"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

And suddenly, the water spout seemed like the last of the students problems. There was a flash of light as the group's only way out split into two, the remains teetering precariously before crashing downwards, showering the group with not-so-clean liquid.

Another arc of light and the group was knocked clean off their feet, flying bodily backwards before they could even react. There was a strange feeling, an oppressive pressure: this stranger was no bearer of good news.

"Hmmm... five creatures. Weak. But it'll do." The hooded figure suddenly flipped open a phone-like contraption out of all things, pressing a few buttons. There was a brief paused as they pressed something that seemed to be 'send', and as they pocketed their phone, their cloaked face turned to the fallen group. "Well, help should be coming soon, or rather, some assistance moving baggage. In the meanwhile, I would just love to answer any questions you might have. Try me."

There was nothing friendly about their tone of voice.

OOC

- A ??? has arrived and unfortunately has cut off the exit. There is something telling the students that attacking them would not be wise, considering they sent them flying just a few moments ago: but they seem ready to entertain you. Somewhat.
