Well, that was rather ungraceful and ironic. Remi would need to check to see how many air miles he raked up with this last trip....

Landing with a slight skidding halt, the boil found himself situated a few tiles to what was his right... covered in... fabric? "Awh MAN." It seemed the gods had a sense of humor, as he found his stylish pinstriped pants gone and...replaced with the boxers he chose to wear today. He did not assume people would SEE them today, so of course they were the ridiculous bright green pair with little skulls and duckies all over them.

He sat there for a moment... to embarrassed to even look up he pinched the bridge of his nose.

THUD.

Tails bristling out, something similar to what a felines would have, the world seemed to go in slow motion... He heard the cry from his teammate, but he could not bring himself to reply at the moment. The kitsune stared up at someone he would now nickname 'troll'... or maybe mountain man, nah troll sounded better. Was he a troll though? He knew they had a few on campus, but dang! Remi had never heard of a hunter before, nor seen one – something just did not seem RIGHT with this one. "The hell are you, troll dude?" See! the nickname would stick.

OH JACK WHAT WAS HAPPENING.

There were a number of things that were contributing to Xiu's rising panic. Raziel getting flung across the room, the tile he was standing on suddenly burning, Remi flying onto another square as his...as his...pants were...blasted off...

...

Xiu couldn't help but pause to wonder if the poor boil would have to go through the rest of the rooms pantless. It wasn't as if she had thought to bring an extra pair of pants for anyone--she hadn't considered the possibility that any of her teammates would lose clothing during this field trip. That being said, everything that had happened thus far had been unpredictable, including the sudden appearance of a boil who didn't recognize. He looked like a reaper of some kind, but Xiu couldn't recall having ever seen him in Amityville. She opened her mouth to greet the stranger--because clearly that was the smartest idea--when Amrita's yell startled her into clamping her mouth shut.

Look out? "A-amrita, do you...do you know who he is? Is he dangerous?" She cast the newcomer a wary glance, and then looked towards Raziel, Lacie, and Remi in turn. W-well, even if this was a bad guy...they had five people, so they would be able to defend themselves quite well if this newcomer tried to attack them, right?

To his credit, Remi seemed surprisingly calm despite the fact he was talking to a stranger in his bright green boxers. Xiu had to admit that she was a little impressed (as she raised a hand to strategically cover Remi's lower half from her view).

From the moment Petra had stepped through the portal, there had been chaos. Although the statues had moved aside without a fight, she had held tight to her mace, knuckles almost white where her fingers were curled around the black grip. Jordan's decision was one she trusted impeccably -- she had walked through the door without a moments hesitation -- but that did not mean she trusted the conniving statues whose words had been purposely twisted to confuse them. It had set her on edge, enough that the normally calm, albeit flat expression had tightened a bit, midnight-blue eyes sharpening in suspicion as they had all moved past to step through the door. Cain, too, had not been uneffected -- whether through his own warped personality or feeding off of her own tension, the statues had had a particular effect on him as well, a distinct sharpness bleeding into her conscious. The mace in her hands seemed to almost vibrate against her palm, as if craving blood.

He needn't have worried -- it seemed he would be getting his wish.

Unlike Robert, she had stepped easily down onto what seemed to her to be an endless field, soft green grass swaying a few feet below them with the softest breath of wind. Of course, unbeknownst to her and the rest of the Phoenixes, that could not be farther from the truth. Perhaps if that were what she had been focusing on, there might have been a few hints to say otherwise but it was not the scenery which had caught her attention. With that first step, Petra had been acutely aware of the other beings which flecked the surrounding, automatically flicking her eyes around to take a cursory note of where and how many. But it was Amrita's voice that split the air first, demanding her entire focus, and she turned to stare unabashedly at the girl, going completely still.

"Boss."

Although her muscles were stiff and ready for action, her tone was completely dead, her voice cool and unconcerned.

"She doesn't have half her face."

Raziel's movement caught to corner of her eye, initiating another jerked response, her head snapping towards the demon. If she were completely honest with herself, she would admit that the prospect of being face to face with these creatures frightened her, a lump of ice twisting in her gut. But it was Amrita, and not Raziel that unnerved her more, and she gladly took the distraction, her own hands lifting her mace a little threateningly.

"Don't. move."

Voices. Voices he did not recognize. It wasn't Jordan, and it wasn't Petra - and after his fall, he was sure he had knocked a screw or two loose in his head, because he was seeing something absolutely ridiculous.

Big old fluffy tailed dog eared weirdo. Not only that, farther away there was.. just..

Monsters.

"Holyshitholyshitholyshit PETRA WHERE ARE YOU holyshit-"

He scrambled to his feet, lumbered up to his full, imposing height, and held his batleth in front of him. For once, the weapon decided to speak - though it was more of a screech than anything.

HELP ME!!! She sobbed.

HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!! She screamed at Remi, but no one could hear her screams but Robert, who winced and dropped her to the floor.

"Ugh," Robert groaned lowly. "You two-timing b***h."

One second Madison was walking through the door - the next she was falling. She had just enough time to take a startled breath, but not quite enough to scream before she hit... something. Her heels clacked and she very nearly fell over, teetering for one terrifying instant before recovering.

Heat was radiating upwards, and stalactites loomed overhead, and why did it smell vaguely of Thanksgiving?! All valuable observations, but all of that paled as Madison realized what else was in the room.

Monsters.

THEM.

So it comes to this, does it? Kouki's voice was grim, yet there was something hungry and darkly pleased in its four-point harmonic tone as well. We will fight, Hunter-mine. Let us eradicate them.

E-eradicate?! Madison thought back, her eyes widening. Then, slowly, she tensed, shifting her stance and drawing first one blade, then a second. Her movements were careful but much more assured thanks to her practice with Bix, and she didn't drop either sword.

"We can take them," she said, hoping she was right and trying to ignore the way her voice and hands shook. They didn't look armed, though, even if they were monsters, and one of them was SUPER SHORT, what the crap, and one of them was... eugh... rotting...

Be bold! We are more deadly than they, Kouki said, his voice now completely consumed by that feral, cold hunger.

Y-you'd better be telling the t-truth... She felt practically naked without a golem around her. Like being back home all over again nothing between her and the shadows... except she had Kouki. She crossed the blades in front of her; they clinked lightly against each other with the tremors of her hands.

"I've...I've never seen, err, it before!" She wasn't sure if the intruder was a ghoul or boil, and sometimes it was hard to tell anyway. "B-but it fell from the ceiling!" The Vetala threw her backwards hands into the air. How could that be any sorts of good! The last time she fell through the ceiling she was clinging to Petro, and there was fire everywhere. Falling was bad. Fire was bad. Then again, these people might not be so bad; she wasn't bad, and she had fallen through a ceiling before! But who knew.

"Are you o--" Her lips screwed shut as the ghoul raised a weapon against her team mate. All the concern for the strangers fled her in that moment; the ghoul wasn't sure what came over her then, but she planted her reversed hands on her still-new hips, and stared directly at Petra. "Hey now! Th-that's enough! We didn't do anything to you, put that away!" Seriously, turning a weapon on them! They could be--- wait, wait, what did that other ghoul - Madison - say?!

"Wh-what...?" She squeaked out, looking surprised.

Jordan landed on his feet, keeping his balance with some degree of effort. Where were they? He scanned the room quickly, taking in their surroundings - warm, grassy field ... with stalactites overhead? Something about that didn't seem quite right, but that observation was instantly shelved as he spotted what else inhabited the room they had been dumped into. Things, one of which he had landed right next to ...

Interesting fashion sense, Ferros observed, even as the hissing rumble of his mental presence notched up into a hungry growl.

"So I see," Jordan replied, both to Ferros and to Petra. He took a half-step back, moving into a more balanced stance and angling the hammer out and to the side, ready to swing. "Robert! Stay focused, man. You okay?"

Ennéa stepped into the cavern and stumbled a little as she quickly turned in a circle to peer about. The door had dumped them into some sort of cave and yet it was lushly carpeted with grass like an indoor football field gone to seed. It was weird but kind of neat and wait -- they weren't alone.

Ennéa tensed when she realized that the two persons standing closest to her weren't actually her squad mates. How had that happened?! She had made sure to follow closely along with everyone else through the door. Ennéa quickly looked about and spotted Maddie standing a short distance away, flanked by a pair of turkeys. Jordan and Petra were also a little ways away, also flanked by turkeys.

Seeing her fellow squad mates reassured her and Ennéa turned to the two new people closest to her. "Hello." She said pleasantly to Lacie. The girl seemed normal enough, maybe they were from a different squad? Ennéa was horrible at remembering faces and names and she had been so distracted exploring the island that she hadn't bothered to get to know the other hunters outside of Phoenix squad.

She turned to look at Remi behind her, "What squad are you..." she trailed off noticing with a small chill that the person she was talking to had furry ears and was that a tail? Multiple tails? Maybe they weren't hunters after all.

Ennéa gripped the handle of her axe tightly. She could hear rustling in her mind, as if Baraz was eagerly shifting his wings."Hey Boss?" She called out to Jordan. "I don't think they're human." She said, stating the obvious.

[Ennéa is on D-7]

"Yeah, yeah," Robert grumbled -a little too loudly. This was because, in his head, someone was SCREAMING FOR HELP, and his own voice was louder without realizing it as a result. He was barely screaming, himself. "Just some technical difficulties. SHUT THE ******** UP JAZZY YOU'RE GONNA MAKE ME DEAF HOLY s**t."

Robert picked up his weapon quickly and flipped it over to the other side, stifling the cries as quickly as switching off a light.

"So. What we got here, boss?" He eyed the boy that they had practically surrounded, sniffing as if unimpressed. "Do we kill it?"

Robert was not the hunter you wanted to meet in a dark alley.

"I'm here sunshine," she replied, the term of endearment he always used for her rolling off her tongue a little awkwardly, her voice still cold as ice. Flicking her gaze between Raziel and Amrita, she had eventually locked her gaze on the undead girl as she spoke again, her expression completely unchanged. There was no sympathy there, certainly no recognition that she had said anything intelligible -- 'Rita could have been speaking another language, for all the moon hunter had replied. She did, however, lift Cain just slightly, the only response she gave, watching in her peripheral vision as Madison and Ennea appeared as well. At least they had all made it. Part of her hadn't been so sure they would have.

'Focus.'

The only upside was that it seemed they had one of them moderately surrounded. Or at least, they were in rather good vantage points. Although she didn't look over at Robert as he spoke, there was a certain chill that ran down her spine at the sound of his voice, far more callous than normal, the words ruthless. Certainly nothing any of them would expect from the man whose laugh could bring a smile to your face without much effort, even if you were rolling your eyes. She liked it though. It felt right, like the man she had always trusted with her life to protect her. The Phoenixes were certainly forces to be reckoned with.

"Careful," she spoke up again, unmindful of the fact that the halloweentowners could hear them, "There's five of them too."

...Did...did that boil-ghoul-it just...tell someone to shut up? What? There wasn't anyone named Jazzy here...maybe it was it's team mate? Maybe the one with the mace? That ghoul looked like a Jazzy to her. Whatever that meant.

With the comfort of the illusion that the Demon was casting over the lava, Amrita was free to take in the situation and try to decide on the best course of action. That, among other things, meant she was free to hear and acknowledge what was being said, especially to her trapped companion. Therefore, If it were at all possible, Amrita's heart would have skipped as the feeling of dread set in. Gray eyes darted from one white coated Reaper to the next, and it didn't take her long to realize that Remi was trapped. Trapped and in his boxers, how embarrassing! How would someone brave approach this?

"...Don't...Don't you dare touch him!" The ghoul nearly growled out to the group surrounding Remi, trying to hide how badly she was shaking as she clenched her backwards fist. Her gaze did flicker from the group then to Petra, nervously trying to make sure the ghoul stayed away.

One by one, more of the strange not-reapers appeared, dropping in from overhead. Xiu counted each one of them as they appeared, her lips pressed line, as her gaze swept over each newcomer. One, two, three, four...and five. Unless there were going to be any more sudden visitors dropping down from out of nowhere, they were evenly matched number-wise.

Of course, that was only assuming that they had to fight, though it certainly didn't look like the strangers had come in peace. The Baku flinched in shock when Petra suddenly raised her weapon, her eyes widening as she reached out to grasp Amrita's sleeve, as if readying herself to jerk her friend out of the way at a moment's notice. "Put...put that down! W-who are you?" They had appeared out of nowhere, seemed to be intent on attacking them, and...why were some of them talking to themselves? At least, she could only hear one side of the conversation--perhaps they were wearing microphones?

What she did hear loud and clear was Robert's question, and it was a question that ellicited an immediate defensive response from the ghoul. The end of her tail puffed up as she bristled, lurching forward onto D4 so that she could stand by Amrita. Xiu followed the Vetala's outburst with one of her own. "H-he didn't do anything to you! Leave him alone!" The turkey that she had picked up earlier squawked as Xiu hugged it tightly to her chest. The Baku was absolutely terrified, but she tried her best not to let any of this terror shine though. Unfortunately, the fact that she was quivering was a rather tell-tale sign of the fear she was trying so hard to hide.
