The girl laughed. “Okay, okay!” she said, laughing still. “I’ll go take a look.”

Browsing the shelves, Ginga saw more and more rows of heels and ballet flats in assortments of colors.

Hmm, don’t they have anything more my style? She thought as she walked up and down each of the aisles. She was just about to give up when…

She saw them.

The most perfect pair of shoes she’d ever laid eyes on.

“PANCAKE!” Ginga cried out, laughing.

Now, in most stores, if people heard someone yell out “PANCAKE!” and then start laughing ridiculously, they would’ve thought something was radically wrong with said person. However, this was not most stores, and the customers, although they stared at first, understood when they saw the little Mime Jr. sitting on top of the shoes.

Ginga took a few steps toward the pair of shoes, as though they were some kind of mystic artifact. They were high-tops, but not in the traditional sense. These came up a little higher on the leg, hitting just below mid-calf, and looked as though they had great arch support. Instead of laces, they had a ribbon which held them on the foot of the wearer. But the best part of all was that they were red. Red. And shiny. Oh, the shininess of the sequins fascinated the girl, so much so that she knew she had to sit down and try them on.

Grabbing the pair of shoes off the shelf (after Pancake stepped off of them of course), Ginga sat down and got to work. She slipped off her old shoes, and one by one slipped her feet into the new pair. She tied the ribbons and stood up, looking in a nearby mirror.

They fit.

It was fate.

Ginga looked at Skye. Her friend had obviously been busy; her arms were laden with bags full of shoeboxes. She smiled.

“I know right? I love these shoes!” she said happily, admiring her feet for what must have been the thousandth time. “They’re wonderfully comfy…usually high-tops start to hurt the feet after a while, but I bet you could go for a walk down the Skyarrow Bridge without these starting to hurt!”

How much are they? She wondered, not realizing she hadn’t bothered to look at the price tag. She sat back down and took a glance at it. “Ohmigosh…”

“I can’t believe this…first I find this awesome pair of shoes, and then I find out they’re on sale?! This is fate, I tell you, fate!” The girl laughed as she took the shoes off and placed them in the box she had found nearby.

“A-are you sure?” Ginga asked, looking at the wad of cash apprehensively. “Even though they’re discounted, they’re still one-hundred and fifty dollars….”

“O-okay,” Ginga said as the wad of cash was forced into her hands. She stood up, picking up the box filled with the amazing shoes.

“You’re right, it has been forever since we’ve seen each other! We should celebrate!” she added cheerfully as she headed toward the cash register.

But then something caught her attention. A sort of delayed reaction.

“Wait…vacation?”

The blonde girl watched her friend as she played with the phone charms and brochures. She seemed upset. Ginga had to wonder how much time Skye put into her work and how much of it went unnoticed or was underappreciated. It must have been very taxing after a while. And it didn’t seem fair that she couldn’t take a vacation; after all, Presidents of companies could take vacations, right? God knows her douche of a former boss used to.

Turning away for just a minute, Ginga paid for her shoes. The cashier handed her the receipt.

“Thank you,” she said.

Just then Skye held up a brochure for Ginga to see.

“‘Holiday in Hoenn…’” she read aloud. “OhmiGod…”

Ginga didn’t need to be told twice. In fact, she knew it before she even begun to form the words in her mind.

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” she asked her best friend, that usual devilish “I’ve-got-an-idea” glint in her eye.
