Here's my boring tutorial on how to boring boring - 3-

Tutorial on how to get Audacity and save as MP3I’d recommend Audacity to be the program of choice for the karaoke competition. You can use something else if you’d like but I’m not sure if I can help you in that case.
So first you’re going to want to download it of course.
Search for Audacity on your preferred search engine and click on
the result that links to sourceforge. You should see a page
like this. Click on either of those licks I highlighted to go to
this page which has downloads for PC and Mac, of version 1.2.6 and 1.3.13 Beta. 1.3.13 is better for Vista and 7 users, so keep that in mind. I downloaded 1.3.13 in this example. P:
Click the appropriate download link to download the installation wizard and follow the process
until it’s finished. You can launch Audacity and start using it if you really want to, but there is one thing you’ll have to do first, before you can save your files as MP3s.
Go back to your search engine and look for
LAME encoder for Audacity. Then click on
either of these links. The bottom one in this picture takes you straight to the download page, and the top one just takes one more click to get to the same page so no big difference.
Once you get there
use this link to download LAME. It will be a zipped folder so don’t worry about that.
I'm not positive but I think you might have to use a different download link to get a different version for Mac. Maybe the one on the bottom that says "For Audacity 1.2.6 on OS X" or something.
An important thing to remember though, is that once you save this folder, you should NOT move it. If you move it, Audacity won’t be able to find it anymore. More on that later.
Once you finish downloading LAME [I saved mine under my user folder in C:]
Extract it. I’m not sure how to do this on a Mac but on a PC you just right-click and click “Extract All…” or if you have 7-Zip or some similar extracting program you can use it.
Now we’re done setting up LAME, believe it or not, so we’ll go back to Audacity. Once you have something recorded and ready, click File and click Export as MP3, if you’re using version 1.2.6. If using 1.3.13, click
Export…An important note to 1.3.13 users; remember to select “MP3 file” as the type on
this screen. I actually forgot to do that on this screenshot. Px
From here the versions will look a little different but they’re generally the same.
Type the info for your song in and hit OK. Now, if this is the first time you’re saving an MP3 then Audacity will
ask for LAME. Click browse [not OK, I accidentally highlighted it, sorry Px] and navigate to where you saved LAME at. It should be in a folder labeled like
this one, but be careful not to use the zipped version. It’s actually a good idea to delete the zipped version after you unzip it to prevent confusion.
Do not delete the unzipped version, or move it though. You just told Audacity where to find it, so if you move it then it won't work properly anymore.
Select the file called lame_enc.dll and THEN hit OK
on Audacity’s prompt. If you were successful, Audacity will not have said anything else to you and your MP3 would have saved to wherever you told it to [probably your Music or Documents folder]
So
check to see if it saved correctly. Play it, please, just to make sure. And that’s it! Send the file to me when you’re done, thanks.
