Examining the door, Jericho narrowed his eyes as he suddenly heard the voices. What caught his attention more were the jewels on the ground. Grinning, he stared down at the lot.
Treasure.
Awesome.
Without much thought, he picked up a ruby, citrine, and onyx.

The West Door Oppa dropped the stone as the voice started booming from it. He though he had reached the treasure, but it looks like it's just another puzzle. Oppa tried to stuff the jewels in his pants but they kept disappearing from them and reappearing on the cavern floor. Oppa looked at the stones and picked the first three closest to him. "How many combinations can their possibly be?" Opal, Onyx, and Cat's Eye were the three he tried first in the door, not that he actually knew the names of the stones. "If this works I'm a genius." Oppa said as he placed the last stone in.

The North Door did nothing when Herryk approached, the stone unmoving even as he raised his hand to take hold of the horns, the act of strength merely causing the lock to clatter a little against the bars of the door. Any amount of wiggling and pulling and motions of the likes would do nothing -- it seemed there was a spell or something on the door, a curse that would allow none access unless they had proved themselves worthy and produced the key. (Even then, however, it seemed that the door was pretty finicky in general, and would only open when it was good and ready.) The lock, however, seemed very upset that this ghost boil was yanking on it, it's great mouth opening to shriek at him in angry, low-pitched distress.
"WHO DISTURBS THE NORTHERN DOOR?!"
~~~
Meanwhile, at the West Door, Jericho's offering had seemingly gained him a response. The white crystal of the eyes flashed red in three short pulses, indicating that none of the crystals were correct. This, however, was actually quite helpful -- it narrowed down his choices considerably.
For Oppa, the serpent's eyes settled back into a clear crystal color for a moment as it considered, before it flashed a bright green once, fading into two pulses of red. Hm... one of those gems was correct... but which one?
Ooc: As a minor note, the three gems for each person were randomized, they don't actually hold significance to your character and who they are -- we would never boast knowing your character so well!
Jericho's grin dropped as the door flashed red thrice. Well damn. He liked rubies. Dropping the gems, he let out a huff and looked at the rest. Well. Shinies were shinies.
This time around, he picked up cat's eye, emerald, and sapphire.
At Jericho's second attempt, the door seemed far more pleased with the offering, although it was hard to tell, considering it was made out of stone and could therefore show no more emotion than any other inanimate object. Still, any student could tell by looking, simply because for this attempt, the eyes flashed green twice before pulsing once red, indicating that this second try had gone far better than the first.
Seeing the door flash green twice, Jericho furrowed his brow and stared down at the gems in hand. So one of these things was the wrong one. Deciding to go with his gut feeling, he put down the sapphire and picked up the opal instead.
Oppa scratched his head. One green flash, that meant one of the stones must have been right. He took out the Opal and Onyx and placed in Ruby and Sapphire. Maybe these three would be the correct combo?
Well.. screeching didn't help. His mouth closed for only a split second as he contemplated. It then broke back into a smile. He was analyzing what he remembered Vero saying. Maybe it would be a clue as to what he needed to do to get inside.
"I am prepared. I'm also curious as to the secrets you have inside." His head tilted. "And many apologies about my screeching.." He let out a giggle in apology.
Perhaps if he just stressed that he was ready, they would let him in?
"Maybe the tomb just... has certain tastes?" Syb offered, grateful that Muka wasn't screaming any longer. "I mean, some people are very picky about what goes into their mouths, right?" she added, feeling a little better about that conclusion--then promptly depressed. Did that mean she didn't look like she would taste good?
"Mr. Tombstone, since you're talking to us... sort of, could you tell us what we need to do to go in? If, you know, we even can?"
Dariya huffed at the hooded figures and crossed his arms over his chest, glaring at them for a moment. So he couldn't gain entrance 'as of yet', hm? Did that meant that he might be able to at some later point? This was the second supposed 'haunted' thing that he had approached at the festival and already it was more boring than the other. At least over there, Kala had been with him, so that he had someone to talk to.
Just to see what might happen, he waited a few minutes before speaking again, asking another question. "You say that I cannot enter as of yet. Is there a certain point in time when I will be able to enter? Are there other requirements I must fulfill before you will grant me leave?"
Aislin frowned as only one of the many students milling around outside of the door was allowed entrance. She looked up towards the figures, brows furrowed together as she tilted her chin upward in thought. The banshee contemplated what the female guardian had said. Wit or luck. For a long moment she thought, standing back from the others as they continued to speak to the guardians, either demanding entrance forcefully or trying to coax their way in.
Luck. As much as Ash liked to believe she had it, her experience with games and opportunities of chance were hard to deny her less than lucky nature. Besides, she didn't like to rely on chance alone. If she was going to get something she wanted she set out to get it, not just wait and hope for it.
Wit. She knew the word. Knew what it meant. In fact she was sure she knew someone who was very witty, indeed. It made her a bit sad that Cat didn't seem interested in participating in the festival, he'd have done amazingly with this door.
She thought a bit longer before approaching the guardians once again. Looking up at them she called out, and hoped that they could appreciate the only form of Wit that the ghostling had readily at her disposal. "When is a door not a door?" She waited a few beats to be sure they heard the question, even giving them a moment to answer before she provided it for them. "When it is ajar." Her tone was suggestive, and she motioned towards the door as well for emphasis. Obviously she was suggesting they crack the door open 'ajar' for her to enter.
As soon as another ghoul had asked, Another boil had suddenly screeched at the guards to let him inside. Poke covered her ear fins to block out the noise, flinching at the horrible sound. Well...she couldn't blame him for doing so, but damn if that didn't make her ears ring...
However, what had caught her attention were the two figures at the back, watching everyone else make their various attempts. She heard one began to talk about how the others had gotten in, and the speculation that they needed to have no doubts...hmm....
One of the guards then indicated towards the tomb, saying they were allowed to try and enter it. She would of done so, had the guard not have said it wouldn't work unless they had meet the qualifications...whatever they were.
She stood back as one of the students had been allowed entry, and then listened as they answered the others questions. So, they needed to have either wit or luck, the guards could read their minds, and there were slightly different ways to get inside.
...This was going to be so much fun, in a brain inducing headache sort of way
While others began asking more questions, or even using riddles, she thought over what had been said so far, even glancing towards the two figures again. So, if she was both witty, lucky, and firm with her answer, she could go inside?
Luck was something she didn't put much stock in. And she did her best to be witty although at times she just didn't care. Being firm? yeah, she was pretty good with that. Her mind then drifted back to the 'reading thoughts' part
...crap, did that mean they could read her thoughts now?
Holy jack they probably were at this very moment.
Poke began to do her best not to think of any family secrets or any dirty thoughts or...anything incriminating (however when you try not to think of those things...you end up doing so), even going as far as to hold her head as if her hands were some kind of barrier. The idea that someone knew what was in her head a little off putting to say the least. But she soon got over it and went back to the task at hand, trying to get inside the tomb.
Okay, focus, focus! If they want me to be sure then I bloody well am. I want to go inside that tomb- no, I'm going inside that tomb weather they like it or not! I know I can do this.
She walked towards the tomb again, then turning to face the Guards.
"Guardians. I believe I am worthy to enter the tomb. I have done what has been requested of me, and have approached it." She said resolutely. "Give me safe passage so I may discover what secrets lie inside."
From the Front Door --> Western Door
Visibly unsurprised, though pleased it had managed to get through so quickly, Vero ventured past the guardians, beneath the weeping angels, and further into the winding staircase that snaked downwards. The walls seemed to crouch down upon the little spirit like a stony intestine pushing it along, which made Vero marginally speed his gait - the dripping water made it perilous to go much faster than that.
It wasn't long before Vero became a little disoriented, keeping a hand to the wall just in case it grew pitch black. Doing so led him further west, until at last he came upon several students plagued by a gleaming, snake-like visage.
"Hum. The first puzzle awaits."
Watching the boils, Vero noted their unique interest in the colored stones and examined them; it knew some of their names, but not quite all. First, it picked up Amethyst, and heard the hollow voice give his or her orders.
Body, mind, and soul? Hum . . . "Is there a rhyme or reason to yours?" he asked the others currently trying to solve the puzzle, plucking the Emerald and Ruby stones to try upon the door. If Vero could get a sense of what the stones meant to the others, maybe it could better perceive which would be the correct ones in its case.
(( It might actually be random, but Vero is a stickler for believing in everything having a purpose. XD; ))
Herryk was far too busy jerking on the northern door to realize that there was some sweet treasure action taking place at the western door. It didn't matter anyways because soon enough the door started to talk. Well, shriek, really.
A shrieking door. Awesome.
"Herryk disturbs the door." He took a step back and placed his hands on his hips, scowling at the obviously upset door and its fancy lock.
"Herryk wants in." Yes, and Herryk wants in now, please and thank you. Right now.
Jericho's third attempt seemed to go neither better nor worse than the second. Eying the gems in the dragon's hand, the serpent paused for a second before its eyes flashed green twice, then red once more, before turning its attention to Oppa.To him, it did the same, flashing twice green before lastly flickering red. Lastly, to Vero the door flashed green once before flickering red twice, an indication that only one of the stones had been correct.
Herryk, on the other hand was on the wrong end of a very annoyed lock. "Well, 'Herryk'," the lock answered in a dull tone, clearly not pleased at being yanked on, "You can't GET in. Not until you get into the other two doors first." With that, it huffed a little, as if that was totally obvious by the lock's presence even being there -- clearly it was a very stuffy thing.
~~~
On the surface, the hooded figure was listening to the group which had accumulated with a patience that seemed to be ebbing as some of the other students asked the same questions. Still, she replied to each who spoke up, fingers laced in front of her.
"Your apologies are accepted," she answered the first one who spoke, sliding her hands a little higher to slip into her robes, "However, you have not completed the task, therefore your being ready has little to do with it. Perhaps you should conspire with your friends."
The hooded figure did, however, blanch a little when Syb seemed to think she was a talking tombstone, and, by the firelight of the torches, her shadowed expression seemed to flatten a bit. "I am not a Mister, nor am I a tombstone," she replied, a little put out, "And as I replied not a few moments before, while clever of you to ask specifically what you need to do, it would not be a trial if I told you. All Halloweentowners have the potential -- your previous friends passed the test."
Dariya's question gained the hooded figure's attention again, and she turned a little to face him, nodding a little in response to his question. "When you have met the requirements, you may enter."
"An amusing joke," she replied to Ash, laughing a little, although seemed no more inclined to open the tomb, "When I said wit, I was referring more to intellect. Examining the similarities of your friends' past successes, perhaps."
To Poke, the hooded woman shook her head again, a little put out by the demand. "Demanding entrance will not sway stone."
Ooc: Hint, for those at the entrance still -- it is not necessarily what a character does, but what is in your post that determines if you go through. It CAN be something said or done, but not necessarily or likely, so just mimicking what other people have had their character do isn't likely to help. Going back and trying to see similarities in other people's posts might help too. Also, please try to read other people's questions before asking your own, you'll likely learn a lot more at a faster pace because each person will ask a new question, instead of asking one that has already been answered.
