He was overjoyed to see Kaizen finally, genuinely smiling. Of course, Yamatano still had a hundred questions: What caused this sudden shift in personality? Where had Kaizen been the past few weeks? Was this simply a facade for the festival? But Yamatano shrugged those questions off, allowing himself to just enjoy that, even if it was for only one night, his friend was himself again.
At the suggestion from Kaizen, a small grin began to play across his face, the old, prankster side of Yamatano coming back to light after being buried under a year of intense Oinin training. "Oh? I'm liking the way you think. How about we try the main stage?" He suggested, pointing Kaizen in the direction of the main stage from which the announcements were given. If the explosives were to be kept anywhere, it would make sense that they would be at the most heavily guarded part of the festival.

"I‘ll stop the whole world from turning into a monster and eating us alive..." xxxxKaris shook herself out of a daze, blinking several times and glancing around. The festival was filling up quickly, the dull explosions of fireworks blending with the chatter of the citizens and the swish of kimonos to create a sound that was almost music to Karis‘ ears. Perfection in E Minor, even during a festival such as this one, the Hyuuga couldn‘t help the sarcastic thoughts that intruded on her serenity as she stood and stretched gently. Her muscles rippled, still sore from training with Yamatano-senpai and Fordon-sensei, as she rolled her shoulders, disliking the heavy material of the kimono as she struggled to balance in her silly shoes. She hated dressing up, and she hated not being able to move in the silly kimono that wasn‘t even hers.xxxx”I need to get out of this kimono.” Her words were muttered more to herself than to anyone else as she kicked off her shoes and slipped down an alley and out of sight. Lifting the hem of her kimono, she broke into a run until she reached a familiar stand and ducked behind it. She sent a silent prayer to Kami as she slipped off her kimono to reveal a white and black outfit worn under it, folding the kimono neatly and tucking it under the low eaves of the stand before straightening and glancing around. Sure that no one had seen her, she quickly reached up, took hold of the edge of the roof, and pulled, lifting herself onto the roof of the stand. She sat comfortably on the roof, uninhibited by the silly kimono dressy nonsense that she had fussed with so much. Her pale aqua eyes swept the crowd for faces, smiling as she observed her fellow shinobi enjoying the festivities."Don‘t you ever wonder how we’ve survived? Now that you‘re gone, this world is ours." "We are the culmination of every choice we have ever made..." Smiling devilishly, Kaizen quickened his pace as he made his way towards the main stage, located near the heart of Kiri itself. Continuing to look forward, Kaizen said in a tone which spoke of efficiency, "We will need figure out a way to get past whoever is guarding the fire-works, no doubt they won't just let us through, even if we are shinobi. I suppose a simple Henge might do, perhaps we can simply tell them that we have come to cover them so they can enjoy the festival for a time. What do you think, any ideas?" Even as he spoke, Kaizen could see the main stage in the center of the courtyard, two guards watching either side of the stage to make sure no civilians wandered onto the platform.
Stopping Kaizen looked towards Yamatano, hoping the young Oinin might have some kind of idea how best to infiltrate a secure location. It had been years since he had done anything like this, and in all likelihood he would probably be reprimanded if they were caught now, but that was the furthest thing from his mind. He was simply happy to be with his friend once more, up to the same tricks they would try as children. For a moment at least, he didn't have to worry about Houkou, or his training, or the constant struggle that was the life of a shinobi."... but sometimes, the right choice isn't always clear." Kaizen, do you remember the chuunin exams?" Yamatano asked his friend as he jerked his right arm to the side, his hidden blade exiting its sheath, the word Duty inscribed along its blade. Ignoring Kaizen's gaping stare as to where the heck the blade came from, Yamatano pricked his thumb, drawing blood, and clapped his hand onto his other hand, producing a small puff of smoke. Or what looked at first to be a puff of smoke, for as it cleared, Yamatano held in his hand a small 18 inch, grumpy looking snake. "Hey Yama, what u- wait, whats that? Sugar? Mitarashi sauce? Deep fryers? Sticks? Its Dango! I smell da-" Yamatano quickly shoved his finger into the little snake's mouth, silencing him. "Kuro, be quiet. Now, you've gotta help me, and I promise I'll buy you an entire rack of Dango? Deal?" As the small snake shook his head, Yamatano removed his finger and whispered some instructions to the snake, who quickly slithered away. "And now, we wait."Kuro slithered hurriedly through the grass, avoiding the footfalls of the passerby, and nearly stopping altogether to eat a dropped ice cream cone before he remembered Yamatano's promise. The tiny creature slithered towards a man in an owl mask, far away from Kaizen and Yamatano on the other side of the stage. Muttering a quick begging of forgiveness to his father, he opened wide, and sunk his teeth into the man's ankle. "AAAAAUGH!!!!!" The man yelled, not loud enough to be noticed by the populace in the middle of the festival, but certainly enough to be noticed by the guards on the other side of the stage, the ones closer to Yamatano and Kaizen. As they rushed to the other side to see what was the matter, Yamatano took off, motioning for Kaizen to follow, as they searched for the fireworks.

Masaki walked slowly into the festival, occasionally stumbling over his kimono. He had initially liked it, but it was becoming more and more of a nuisance, the longer he stayed in it the more he realized this wasn't where he belonged. Still, both Luo and Sarutobi had told him to be there, so he had little choice in the matter. He stopped at a sushi stand, and almost grabbed some before he noticed the prices. What little money he had needed to tide him over until he got a paying mission. His stomach grumbled loudly, but the party was louder. The boy continued his walk through the crowded street, until he finally reached a comfortable tree near the middle of the mess.
There was little reason to believe that he would find anything there for him, so he decided he might as well calm his nerves. He sat on a bench under the tree and watched the people scurry back and forth. Supposedly his "classmates" would be present, but he hadn't seen anyone familiar yet.

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner Walking into the festival, Luo found his family amassed near one of the stalls near the entrance in a small waiting area for them. Looking around he noticed one missing muttering to his mother, "Where is Tsukiakari?" She shrugged a bit telling him she let her wander off to experience the festival for a bit before meeting for the family procession. Nodding a bit with a sigh, he decided to wait a bit for her to come along with the family. He really just wanted to get to their clan's lantern sight and get the whole procession underway so that he too could enjoy the festival before having to gather all the genin together with the rest of the shinobi and eat with them formally.
He more so wondered what his old friend Tares was up to. He was positive the man was around here somewhere, but where he couldn't guess. If anything, he was probably drinking sake somewhere, one of his favorite past times when he was formally off duty. Luo however, preferred not to drink most of the time; however, Tares of all people could goad the man into doing so. He just liked to have all of his wits about him in case of any worst case scenario, and being impaired in any way didn't exactly help. Watching the people having a good time, kids running around with lanterns balloons and toys won, and fireworks from afar, Luo appreciated his people even more for who they were.

Masaki got bored, he had been sitting a while and finally built his nerves back up to explore some more. Slowly he wandered through the street, pushing through the crowds until he reached some of the lanterns. They appeared to be dying down a bit, as if they had been burning for a while, but occasionally someone else would show up and hang another lanterns.
He couldn't help but wonder what it was like to be hanging one of the lanterns. He had never personally been very close to anyone, certainly not to anyone who had died. Wasn't he supposed to find Sarutobi somewhere? He continued to wander the festival grounds before seeing a free ramen shop. There was no hesitation before stepping in, the boy needed food and ramen would do him a lot of good after his training. "one ramen please" he called out. It was probably only the basic ramen that was free. "is the tea free too?" the busy vendor nodded as he made some ramen and tea for the boy.

Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l Sitting next to Masaki casually, Sarutobi was wearing a regular ANBU flak jacket, an informal change for him. He had just gotten off of guard duty for the festivities, and had been stalking the young boy for about five minutes. "Make that one a large beef ramen, and get me one of those two Nikko." Smiling, the village's resident expert chef and retired jounin nodded and got to it. As he served them tea and cooked, Sarutobi looked over at Masaki with a smirk. "Well don't you look spiffy kid." Taking a sip of his tea, Nikko put out a single roll for them to split while they waited, remembering seeing the kid go up to the other sushi stand and walking away.
Sipping his tea again, Sarutobi watched Nikko and one of his workers cook for a moment before placing his cup down. "So, how are you liking the festival so far? Sure is a lot to do around here. The games are pretty fun too...well, easy really. I think they stopped letting shinobi play target games after some squad cleared them out of prizes." Lifting his other hand, he placed three lanterns on the counter on his other side. He wasn't sure when, but he did promise to tell Masaki about the past mokuton users, and it wasn't exactly going to be an easy thing to do all things considered.

Masaki was startled for a moment as Sarutobi appeared beside him, he ordered something for the two of him as the vendor gave him some tea. He sipped at his tea, and chewed on his spring roll as Sarutobi talked. "I've never been to anything like it." he admitted between bites. "I don't understand it." He understood the gist of it, hanging lanterns for the dead, and having fun and all. It was difficult to explain why he was so unsettled by the whole thing. "Who are those for?" He asked in attempt to change the subject.
