Hasuko looked desperately about, trying to find something that would help her against Steve. Her eyes happened to fall on a small shrub whose leaves looked somewhat familiar. Jubilee leaves?
She racked her brain, trying to remember what they were good for. Wasn't it a mood altering herb? It lifted spirits, make people happy, or something?
No time to be picky. Hasuko quickly picked a couple leaves, crushing them between her fingers. Instantly her mood lifted. This wasn't so bad, surely they'll find a way to defeat this plant!
She tugged against Steve's vine, still wrapped around her wrist, and rubbed some of the leaves' juice on it. The vine's grip slackened some, twisting and curling and rubbing up against the crushed Jubilee leaves Hasuko was holding.
Hasuko smiled, elated. It was working!

Again browsing through the choices, Astra stopped on the plant called 'caraway', and read about it's calming properties. Perhaps she could calm steve down instead? Again she looked through the assorted plants for her 'weapon of choice', and gently removed some of it so she could throw it at steve.
Once she had done so, she waited in hopes that her attack would do something, but alas the plant remained as energetic as ever.

It looked like her classmates had been trying to land a few hits on the creature-eating plant as well. Good, least I know this is the usual for this sorta class Or was it? The professor still hadn't shown... an issue that bothered the ghoul.
Could the prof have been-! Jack it all... Likely might have put up a fight... maybe the plant had a few scratches in its gut?...possible. She flipped through the book again, looking for something that might keel over some cuts and scraps. Ah! Pointing a finger at the image and then searching the grounds again, Levi found the Yarrow.
Yanking yet another plant, she coiled her tail and bounced up at the opened again. Another successful entry for the Yarrow! If the mass of plant had any left over scraps and cuts from devouring their professor, they'd surely be settled now. Well, ... it may have looked relieved somewhat?

This was getting frustrating! What was she supposed to be using on this plant? Nothing had worked well so far, so she went to he rbook again only to stumble on something that looked far more potent. "Henbane?" she repeated out loud. This plant looked like a much better choice then The devils herb she used earlier! Looking up the picture she put the book down and went to locate it among the other plants, and once doing so she threw it at steve and was happy to see the plant writing in a very different manner then before. Ha, take that!
But as she hovered there watching the others throw various plants and herbs, she began to wonder what had happened to their teacher and why he wasn't here to assist. She felt saddened by this, thinking that out of all the teachers she knew cadmus seemed the ony who cared the most about his students,
"Professor??" She called out into the greenery. "Professor Cadmus, where are you??" She flew around the area a few times to see if she could spot him.

Still feeling pleased with her success, Hasuko followed Steve's vine to his main body.
Steve was huge; a writhing mass of tentacle-like vines and an alarming gaping maw. Hasuko stared in shock, her brief chemical induced happiness from the Jubilee leaf juice quickly draining away and she turned pale under her green scales. She didn't want to fight that!
But there were two other students fighting Steve already. Hasuko had to try, she could fail this class!
Looking about she spotted some house leeks. She remembered her mother used to use them as wards back at home. Maybe it would work warding off Steve? She quickly dug one up and tossed it at the plant monster.
Steve didn't even twitch. Hasuko shifted from foot to foot uneasily. Actually, now that she thought of it, her mother arranged the leeks in a very specific pattern when she warded the house. They probably had to be placed in a special way for the leeks to be effective. Drat.

Whew... with everything being used on this sucker, there sure was a foul stench coming from that opening...hey, maybe there was something to help with that.
Another flipping of pages led Levi to Icarus Weed which happened to be what she was stepping on. Whoops...
Picking up what remained, the tatzel attempted to bounce back up at the opening to throw the mangled plant in, only to barely get in the opening. No reaction was visible and the smell remained. Guess she'd have to brave the stench...

Grabbing the book Mandy quickly turned around and sprinted back into the greenhouse. Flicking through pages for useful information she tried to scan the forest for this 'Steve' at the first time.
....how would she even know what it looked liked except for viney.
Was viney even a word?
Whatever, she didn't spy it at the moment.

Hasuko was discouraged but she was determined to help her follow students. If this is what it took to get a good grade then so be it.
She looked around her for something else she could use against Steve. Obviously, just tossing random herbs wasn't very effective. She had to find.... oh!
Hasuko noticed a clump of lavender growing in a small planting bed. She ran over and pulled a handful of the sweet smelling flower stalks. It wasn't much but lavender was a very good calming herb. Hasuko herself often used it on sleepless nights when she was fretting about a test the next day.
She quickly twisted the stalks into a knot and then threw it at Steve. It whomped against its face? Did giant student eating plants have faces? Hasuko wondered.
Face or no, it seemed to have some sort of effect on Steve. His writhing vines noticeably slowed and the plant seemed to grow calmer, more relaxed. Hasuko breathed a sigh of relief.

Oooo that looked like it might help! Snapping the book shut she put all her effort into actually locating it now that she a vague plan of attack.
It was then she heard some voices drift towards her and deciding they would be her best shot she ran towards them, keeping an eye out for her plant on the way.
Arriving at where they'd issued from she found her assumption was correct, there was something that could defiantly be Steve and they where attacking it. Well, time for her to join in.

In Mandys mind this mysterious 'Steve' plant was fairly demonic, and not in the good way, so when she found the entry on Southernwood she knew that was what she was going to use.
...Though the entry did say burn it which for obvious reason Mandy was unable to do, if she managed to find the plant that is. It wasn't like they where given the clearest descriptions for identification.
Still when she spotted a small bush at the side of the clearing she was 90% certain that was it so plucking a few stems she tried to figure out how to use it.
....Did she just throw it? Maybe crush it a bit?
Shrugging she tore the leaves up a bit and threw them at Steve.
It did nothing.
Er. Maybe she should try something else.

Hmm... what else would help with a sore tummy? Sure, any scrapes in there may have been subdued pain-wise, but what about the digestion part? Could the plant get gas?... Shrugging, she figured it wouldn't hurt to try. Creature-eating plants could perhaps get grumpy if they ate something that displeased their digestion, right? Levi figured she could say the same for herself so-
Black Cohosh it was; this is what her textbook told her would cure a minor case of gas. She wasn't sure just how -minor- this case would be but, it would have to do for now. Upon rummaging through the vines, she came across a plant similar to the noted image in the book and pulled the herb out of its place. Shutting an eye to aim this time, Levi bounded upward in another good tailbounce and shot that Black Cohosh into the opening.
The plant mass reacted with a pleasant shudder. Or at least, that's what it looked like from Levi's perspective.

Dodging vines Mandy looked around for another plant she could use, cursing in her head for not having made a list of plants to use when she was looking in the book. Finally deciding just to grab the nearest thing and wish really hard she pulled a few stalks of an odd looking plant and chucked them at Steve. It did nothing.
Growling she retreated stoma to flick through her book more, there had to be something.

Sheridan sighed shaking his head, where the hell was the professor? This was seeming all too familiar and he did not like it. If the staff wanted the students to trust them again, this was not a good start.
Picking up one of the many texts in the room, Sheridan flipped through the pages, scanning through the many herbs and plants. A cautious step into the greenhouse, great, he didn't even know what he was looking for.

Clearly searching and reading at the same time was not effective, he was going to have to look up from his book in order to find--
Holy Jack! Was that it? No sooner had Sheridan looked up that he saw a very large vine whipping in his direction, writhing around like a giant serpent. That was it, it had to be. Uh-oh, what did he do now?
His attention turned back to the book, quickly searching through the pages, surely it had some hints on what to do about plants that tried to eat students.

Great, he really should have read through this text before he came to this class, not that he could have known something like this would happen. It wasn't that he should have been surprised by the idea of such a plant, but who the hell kept such a plant without being there to control it while there were students in the room? And what kind of name was 'Steve' for a plant anyway, maybe that's why the thing seemed so angry.
Finally he found a page, a list of magical herbs. Well maybe something on this page would help. And if that plant tried to eat him, well they'd find out how plants liked plasma ice.
