Questionable Loiterer

PostPosted: Fri May 27, 2011 12:24 am

Realizing by now that his provocations weren't going to work on Jerome, Izaya sighed and his face fell with a sad smile. "No? Not even with this romantic sunset in the background? I'm so hurt, Jerry-kun. Am I not pretty enough for you? Shall I wear a dress next time?" Batting his eyes playfully at the gangster, the trainee got up to walk alone the very edge of the rooftop. He spread his arms out wide for balance and stepped with one foot in front of the other, keeping his eyes ahead of him instead of on the ground or his feet.

"Hahahaha...you may be right about that," he commented, referring to Jerome's words on their different jobs. "I was the one sneaking into peoples' 'hoods' and starting s**t. I'll tell you, though, it's a heck of a lot more fun than just sitting around waiting for conflicts to start." He sighed as he stopped at the very corner of the building. "Sometimes I'd give away a little free information to a gang just to see what they did with it. Rarely did they disappoint, and no matter the outcome, it always provided me with some good entertainment for a while."

Turning to meet Jerome's gaze with an amiable smile - perhaps a little too amiable for the topic being discussed, he hopped down beside Jerome. "You know as well as I do that the top dogs can't stay on top forever. They get over-confident, arrogant, and careless. Maybe the fact that you believed you had all the other gangs scared made you the most blind to the fact that some weren't scared enough to attempt an attack."

In the end, essentially, thought Izaya with a smirk on his face, It's yours and your gang's fault. If only he'd stuck around the city long enough to have witnessed the events that had taken place with the Runners and their opposing gang.

The gangster glanced over, watching Izaya walk away along the edge, any other person would be scared, or at very least uneasy of something like that, but its not exactly an act people like them really worried about, they spent their lives on the edge, they made a sense belonging there.
"Just not in to dude Furs, sorry." He answered honestly, with a shrug.

He fell silent for a time after that, while Izaya spoke of his hand in causing conflict with the gangs, and his take on how his gang ran things.
He raised a brow at a few things he was saying.

It was, to say the least, a unique perspective, one Jerome hadn't really considered before.
Arrogance? Pride? The ex-gangster snorted at this, yeah, the runners were a source of bragging rights for ET-14, as a group they really were a force to be reckoned with, and Jerome will not deny, that he at one time wore that arrogance, they all did.
Time had warn on Jerome though, he didn't really feel much for that pride anymore.

"Pretty messed up Furs, seein' as Gangs usually look to create some kind of order in places like that."
As warped of a peace as it was, That was the underlining purpose for ceasing control of a hood like that... especially one that housed most of their families.

Jerome didn't sound like he was very passionate about this subject, in fact his tone was more of stating an observation.
Probably becasue he was just tired, and in pain.
Man.. there was a time in Jerome's life, younger days, when he would beat the s**t out of a guy like this.

Izaya answered with a harsh bark of a laugh. "How do you know if you've never been with one?" he taunted, leaping away from the edge as he reached the corner. "Don't say you don't like something if you haven't even tried it. That's such a childish thing to do."

Allowing the other man some silence for a time, Nakura crouched down and took out his knife to scratch out some Japanese kanji into the rooftop. He hummed quietly to himself and smiled, considering all the things that he thought might be running through Jerome's head. He liked to allow his words to sink in; to watch them hit home. It seemed, though, that the gangster wasn't a particularly emotional sort; at least not outwardly. Finally he broke the silence between them.

"There will never be any sort of order, Jerry-kun," the info broker chuckled as he looked back at his companion. "That's just the illusion they want to have. If everyone somehow miraculously decided to let one gang and one gang alone rule a territory, then that gang would get just as bored as I do."

"Everyone is always looking to grow and expand their areas. It's all a game of conquest and deception. There will always be a false sense of loyalty and security, but people will turn on a dime. How else do you think your gang fell so hard so fast?" He sneered. "Heh...even though others feared you, sometimes enough fear is all that's needed to spur someone into action. A frightened animal is most dangerous when it's backed into a corner. They get desperate."

Hearing the weariness and pain in Jerome's voice, Izaya grinned and turned to pat him on the back. Hard. It was probably asking for trouble, but it wasn't as if he had directly hit the area of the man's wounds. Besides, it seemed the informant was a glutton for trouble. "Ready to head back yet, or do you want to stare at the sky and fantasize a bit longer?"

"Jus know" Jerome replied simply with a shrug, it seemed unimportant to Jerome when it came to same gender attractions, sure he never tried, but he never had the urge to try. Either way, it didn't bother Jerome, no self questioning it seemed.
That or he was just to warn out at the moment to bother arguing about it.

As the somewhat beautiful silence continued, Jerome watched Izaya's carving into the building without comment or readable expression, just calm, still.
He did find his voice again eventually though, closing his eyes for a second as he shifted the light brown gaze back out to the desert, eyebrows twitching up in a makeshift shrug.
"Ain't said it was a realistic goal"
Its what they claimed to fight for, even if they knew that it wasn't really true. The longer he lived that life though, the more he started to want that order and peace. He could only speak for himself though.

The slap on his shoulder jarred his wounds uncomfortably, but Jerome managed to get away with a deep grunt.
He turned his head, giving the other man a mildly exasperated look for that hit. This guy was something else. ********.

"Think I'm good." He said, gingerly pushing himself off the wall he had been leaning on, and taking his full weight again. Turning to face Izaya and nodding to the door.

"Ehhh? Jerry-kun believes in idealistic notions like that?" Izaya laughed, perhaps a little louder and harder than necessary. He fought to keep the pain of his own bullet wound from entering his expression. "That's so funny! And here I thought you would be the last type of person to get your head stuck in the clouds." He smirked, his eyes narrowing. "Thought you might have been more grounded after the loss of your gang, but maybe the impact of falling back to hard, concrete reality made you hit your head."

Despite his words, though, Jerome's statement only intrigued the informant all the more. A gangster who thinks he can maintain order, peace, and security in his neighborhood...now that's ironic, he thought, amused, regarding the tattooed man a bit longer before heading toward the door. Even more so now that he's joined up with Team Rocket.

He heaved a great sigh. "I guess it's time to return to the white prison," he chuckled. "Maybe it won't be so boring now, though, having met you to share it with. Misery loves company after all~"

Both eyebrows arched when Izaya went off of that little ramble, making a show of laughing and making some pretty expressive faces.
His reaction to the comment was a simple chuckle, grinning lightly as one of his hands drifted over the bald side of his head, looking away from Izaya.
"Ya like to read into things don't ya." Again, this was followed with a chuckle, a moment breaking the morose silence he had been carrying with him.

Heading back to the door, to get back to the room they were recovering in, with the rest of the unfortunate Rockets.

This guys was something else. This was going to be interesting.
