Eta II seemed happy enough to agree to taking the lead of one of the planned parties, Eta V seemed to lack onto him almost out of the panic of not knowing what else to do but deep down in his heart he couldn't hold that against the other, right now if there was another born leader within the group he'd of lacked onto them if they had seemed worthy of his trust. He turned his attention to Eta II, he was right, splitting the group into those which would even the weapons and extra supply of bandages seemed the most sensible, however as their eyes meet the ground became to vibrate and alarm rose within the group of people occupying the tent, this did not seem to bode well for them.
At this point Eta VIII seem to stir, at first seeming a little unsure of herself, she called out 'Sir', he smiled a little at that but soon she seemed to steal herself and she voice his own thoughts, forming a group because of the colours they wore made no sense, she was right emotional ties and trust for others would form stronger bonds, but right now it was all the had to work with, better stick together even for a short period of time. He watched her go in silence and then turned back to the others, he didn't announce he agreed but his look said it all. The ground still shook with activity outside and noise now began to permeate the tent. His eyes steeled and he took a deep breath, the sound rasping though the gas mask. 'Perhaps we will have the chance to discuss things in a while but right now my gut is telling me to go outside and check out what is happening out there.' He looked to Eta II at his side and nodded then squared his shoulders and walked out of the false security of the tent into the unknown.

Eta II was mildly surprised. Eta VIII certainly did not strike him as the type to have a voice (tiny as it may be) in such a circumstance. Her timid nature and mannerisms - all the hiding behind people, over-politeness and her soft, wavering voice contradicted the very boldness of the point that she just brought up.
It was true. They couldn't, shouldn't trust each other fully yet. While the breaking into smaller groups was for the intention of scouting (Eta II hoped that's what Eta III had intended), there was the overlying assumption that they would stick together, the 12 of them, as the Eta Squad. Yet the temptation for plans otherwise would be great given the flexibility small groups gave.
Eta II would have brought this up, but his awareness of the easily affected Eta V told him otherwise. No, he reaffirmed himself, now is not the time to bring this up and sow unnecessary discord. Intriguing girl she is though. Eta II smiled wryly. By no means was he offended by her presenting such a stark contrast of opinion. He was rather amused.....perhaps even feeling refreshed by such the character she was. Though, Eta III might not take this so well, he thought.
Eta VIII revealed her lot - bandages. So we do need her, Eta II mused, perhaps that's why she's so bold. What came next surprised him more. VIII had literally said her piece, and headed out of the tent! Jesus! What is she thinking! Eta II's mind raced. Fix this problem now. Think!
The noise outside had gotten louder, and violent tremors shook the ground beneath their feet. The situation outside, whatever it was, it wasn't pretty.
Won't be pretty for VIII, who was clearly alone then too.
Oh.
"It seems," Eta II hollered over the noise, "that scouting shouldn't be the issue for now" Bursts of noise sounded through the air as if to reaffirm his point. "Let's head outside, Eta VIII's alone out there. And that noise.....we should find out what that is too." It seemed Eta III had the same idea, though with all the noise, it was unclear if he had mentioned it even earlier.
Eta III had started to make a move, obviously in line with what Eta II was thinking. With that, Eta II followed suit and headed out of the tent, looking back and beckoning the others to follow. To what, even he did not know. ((η II exiting out into the Boss Battle))

(( ooc: o.o" A lot of stuff happened since I got off... ))
Eta VI had been lost in her own thoughts when XI came back in. She had turned, her number facing away from the loud-mouthed teammate, and had thought about making a smart remark. She decided against it, however; starting a fight wouldn't be a smart idea. She watched three of the four unconscious members wake up and XI, VIII, III and II all leave the tent. At the noise, she almost darted out after the last three. However, she froze, glancing at the members that were left. She couldn't leave them, especially not with one still asleep...

((OTL trying to catch up!))
He had remained silent throughout all of the conversations. Watching. Listening. Taking it all in. Something in him, he didn't know what, had told him to observe and not draw attention to himself. At least not yet. Was it an instinct he felt? Something, perhaps, from the missing pieces in his mind? The frown deepened and he tried to fit broken pieces into a puzzle missing too many parts. So, he was listening to the others. Who were talking about teaming up? And other stuff. Wait...what? Teaming up. Why would they team up? Weren't they already a team? Connected by the colors they wore and the squad they were part of? Oh...smaller teams. Alright, that made more sense now, what they were talking about.
Still...instinct told him it was a bad idea. Yet at the same time it was also smart. The smaller the group, the easier it would be to maneuver around, drawing less attention to yourself. But that first text message they had gotten said that only thirteen would survive. Which meant, unless they were extremely lucky, people in their squad would turn on one another. So how did one find a kindred spirit that wouldn't betray them?
Part of him had been aware of the one that had hid behind him. Really, he hadn't minded at all. It felt...almost right that he had someone to protect or shield like that. When η VIII stepped out from behind him and started speaking, η I felt himself straighten and watch everyone with a more calculated look. This one...girl. Her voice was feminine. She struck at some part of him and he felt a...need to stick beside her. Strange. He didn't even know η VIII. Or...he didn't remember her if he did. Though he felt strongly that he hadn't met her before. But she reminded him of someone. Right? Maybe...
He watched her as she headed outside, then glanced towards the others. Clearing his throat, he made a decision. "I...I'm going with her." η I gestured towards η VIII and turned on his heel to follow, swining his bag over his shoulders.

Eta VI sighed, looking around as she made mental notes, lists in her head.
Eta I-IV had left. Eta V, herself, and Eta VII were still there at the base. Eta VIII and Eta IX were gone. Eta X was at base. Eta XI was outside. Eta XII was inside--and still asleep. Seven team members are out, five are at still here at base. The numbers weren't too bad.
Well, time for another list. Weapons? She'd seen most of the members open their bags and those whom she hadn't had been waving them around--or, in XI's case, slamming it into the table.
Eta I, Eta V, and Eta XI had wooden stakes. Eta II, Eta IV, and Eta VII had nunchucks. Eta III and Eta IX had daggers. She had a small hand club. Er. Mace. Eta VIII and Eta X had bandages. And they didn't know what Eta XII had yet.
Huh. I'm the only one with this mace/club thing. Unless Eta XII has one. It looked like their group was pretty well-rounded. Still, only having two with medical supplies worried her. One was out and one stayed behind... at least for now. Well, two are better than none.
So at base, they still had one wooden stake, one set of nunchucks, one set of bandages, one mace, and an unknown fifth object. At least they were varied.
Eta VI looked to those that remained--and were awake. Eta V, Eta VII, and Eta X. "What are you three going to do now?" she inquired. She looked at the unconscious fifth member of the remaining team members. "I'm staying here. At least until Eta XII wakes up."

η X had basically spaced out in his own thoughts, not paying attention to anything.
Bandages. He had bandages of all things. Nun-chucks, maces, daggers -- and he got bandages! He couldn't truly get over it. What could he do with those? If only thirteen were to survive, and he had to face someone with a mace, what would he do?
The was no discernible reason as to why he zoned back in at η VI's question, but perhaps raving about bandages to yourself could only last so long. That and the vibration of another message on his phone was distracting. η X took his phone and read the message.
Oh man. Oh. Man. This pendant thing insured your survival. He needed it. He knew he needed it bad. The guy with nothing but bandages to protect himself needed that pendant. η X closed the phone and put it back on its proper place before looking at η VI.
"Uh," he said quite dumbly, trying to buy time to think of a real reply. Why were so many gone? More left? Oh no. They must have left to find a pendant already. He needed to get out there. "I.. I want to go out with them! Yeah, I need to go," he said, getting up to leave. "Good luck?" η X said it with as much sincerity as he could, but he was more confused and in a rush than anything.
Oh man. He didn't even know what direction everyone headed in.

((η XII entering))
She woke with a start, and then muffled a groan as her head swam with a swirling mass of needles and something sludgy.
Bathroom, was her first thought, but it was quickly forgotten when she felt other eyes on her. She turned her head slowly and took note of four others, all dressed in the same blue outfit and gasmasks. The only thing that really seemed to set them apart were the roman numerals marking their helmets. She looked down at herself and realized that she was dressed the same way.
"Where am I?" she asked quietly, sitting up. She tried to place a gloved hand on her aching head, but shortly realized that the gesture was pointless given the helmet. She sighed instead and slowly worked to her feet, taking in her surroundings as she did so.
She was in some sort of tent. There was a table with a bag and medical kit on it. Instinctively curious, she shuffled over to get a better look and realized they were both numbered. "Eta XII," she muttered. That must be me, she thought, observing that the others around her all carried similar kits and bags, and that she was the only one left without one.
Okay, fine, she thought. She grabbed the bag and reached inside, felt around until her hand found something hard, and then pulled it out.
"A gun?" she said aloud. It felt heavy in her hand, and foreign. She stared at it at first, then popped open its chamber to see if it was loaded. Sure enough it was, but she quickly realized they were rubber pellets.
Eta XII breathed another sigh and leaned back against the table, folding the gun under her arms as she did so. There was a lot to take in, but she knew she had little time to absorb it all.

On hearing that they were making a list of weapons, η VII pulled out her nunchucks to show them to the group. "I don't know that they'll help much, these things are pretty hard to handle," she said quietly. She rather wished she'd gotten the bandages instead, those would be much more useful.
Something about the list of weapons hit home to her, that this was real, especially the threat of dying. Thirteen or fewer alive at the end... or none. She quickly focused instead on η III and η II's discussion of what to do next. As long as there was a plan, she could keep herself calm. Once things were moving, she'd adjust quickly enough, she just had to keep the panic at bay for now. Right?
At the sound of a commotion outside, she turned towards the tent flap. Several of the other η-squad members headed out; when they didn't come back in to say what it was, she frowned, not that it was visible behind the mask.
As η XII started to stir, she made her way over to the tent flap, not heading out yet. Instead she peeked through the gap to see what was happening outside. "What the..." She turned back to the others remaining in the tent, genuine fear tinging her voice. "There's a giant... I don't know, it almost looks like a horse outside. It's covered in fire, and it seems to be attacking the others!" She stood frozen at the flap, trying to decide if she should go help the members of her squad that were fighting the beast, or if she should stay in the safety of the tent. Well, relative safety; at least it kept the monster outside from noticing her, but that thing could easily just step on the tent, and crush everything in it.

It felt good to finally have a game plan that he could follow, and Eta V was glad to soon be moving around now. To be doing something other then sitting around and having panic attacks. Plus, he would be with other people...who seemed to be trustworthy...for now. However he couldn't shake the feeling that the others seemed more weary of him now. For what reason, he was unsure was. Or perhaps he was just being paranoid?
The ground then began to shake underneath his feet, and he became aware of the sound of battle somewhere outside. His insides seized up in fear, now terrified when a few seconds ago he had been fine. Whatever was outside, seemed to be large. Very large.
for crying out loud! His mind hissed. Get a hole of yourself! you said you were going to scout, and by all hell will I do so! I will NOT be coward, I will not!
He took a deep breath, Steading himself, and then proceeded to follow Eta II and III out the door

Eta VI smiled in relief as XII finally woke up. "Good morning, Eta XII." She started walking over to her, but stopped when Eta VII spoke. "What?" She walked over and joined her, peering out. Suddenly the smoky blackness in the center of the town vanished. "What's going on out there...?" Eta VI instantly felt worried. What was happening to their teammates? "Think the three of us should head over there too?"
It was just her, VII, and XII. Joining the others would be a good idea, but who knew what was going on in the center of town? If that giant horse creature that VII spotted was still over there...

η VII nodded. "That thing looked nasty, someone might be hurt. I'm going out there to see, at the least I can try to drag anyone who's injured to safety." She checked her bag quickly, making sure the first aid kit was on top - she really didn't trust herself with the nunchucks - and then she darted out into the clearing smoke.

Eta VIII wasn't entirely sure how she managed to find her way back to the base; in all honesty, she just thought it was a whole load of ridiculous luck on her part, given the fact... she did not remember the way there. Her hand reached out to the wall, steading herself out as she looked around the base, "Anyone here?" her voice broke once, but she did manage to keep it within normal levels of loudness. It was hard not to lower her voice down to a whisper out of fear, but she figured that if she had to fall, she'd fall trying to find those few that had shown the slight bit of worry for her.

He was grumbling to himself now and trying to figures out how firstly, where the hell did that Hell-Pony come from and how could it exist? And speak? And...ah hell! What was going on here? Then there were those monsters. They hadn't been there before and suddenly, there had been tons of them. Strange. Weird. Where the hell were they all stuck at? Once again, very many questions and little to no answers.
"Anyone here?"
He paused in his step, looking forward. A smaller figure stood just in front of him, looking around. Was...he caught sight of the number on the helmet and felt a huge world of relief. It was Eta VIII. She was here. And alright. Well, that was one out of three. Maybe the other two would appear soon as well?
"Eight. You're alive still." Not the best of greetings, but it would do. He needed to find the other two, II and III before he would lose more of the tension in his body. They had better be alright. Eta I didn't want their already small group to get any smaller for as long as they could help it. "You alright?" He asked after a beat or two.

((Eta III is entering from the Boss battle; HP: 21))
He sliced his hand down the dividing flaps of fabric and flipped one side up over his head as he took a step forwards into the tent. He looked around then and spotted One and Eight he smiled, glad to see they were well if a little battered and worse for wear like himself. He took a few paces over to them and placed his hand on Eight's shoulder glad to see she was fine and offering his touch as a reassurance that he was here for her. He looked at One then and nodded gently like you would after a hard days work, simply acknowledging 'yeah things were/are hard but they were here, breathing, living.'
He walked by them both then and backed up to one of the cots, facing back towards his companions and the tent flap. He sat down on the edge of the bed and slipped his rucksack from his wounded shoulder, he massaged it, the heat radiating through the muscle took some of the pain away. He looked at the tent flap then hoping Two would come through the gap soon in one piece. He looked to the other two already there, his hand raising to his head he went to run his hand through his hair, the gesture which seemed so habitual to him was hindered by the gas mask and instead he just rubbed the top of the mask before letting his hand fall. 'Well, that was something.'

Eta VI smiled in relief when she saw familiar faces--well, sort of--coming into the tent. "One! Eight! I'm glad to see you're alright. What happened out there?" She would've joined them, but she hadn't wanted to leave XII by herself, having just woken up. "It looks like you went through a nice little brawl out there."
