User Image(Wow... I don't think I can write that much heh.)

Nathaniel was busy writing his two paragraph essay. Frantically, especially since he decided that he'd have to manage getting through the class without consulting much books. What did he remember about the tales ? Aargh. He didn't even notice Ginelle sitting behind him. Too busy thinking his head off. It wasn't until he felt a cold, liquid thing running down his neck. Laughing was a huge giveaway. His hand immediately touch the unknown substance. Ink. Black. Great. "I hope it was an accident." he said while turning around, kidding but annoyed.

This incident reminded him of his first failure in Transfiguration. Except this time, a simple spell wouldn't clean his head. Uh. Maybe it could. He watched Ginelle stifling with laughter, finishing her assignment before him. If only he had it easy. Good thing his robe was black. "Um, Ginny. You know that cleaning spell ? I'll forgive you." He even finished with a smile, now amused.

Ginelle nodded and began to get up. But, as she did so, she realized that Nathaniel was still there. She didn't want to leave him, so she decided to stay put until he left. Her crush was really beginning to get bad, and she really wanted him to know how she felt. She was young though, and never had a boy friend. She was twelve for goodness sakes. Why did she get butterflies around him? She wished she knew. "I'm sorry for practically throwing my quill at you, Nathaniel.. But... I don't know a cleaning spell.." She laughed a little again. She was never one to giggle at something, so she felt very... ungirly for that. But, hopefully he didn't mind that. She wasn't going to change her personality for some boy. Or would she?

||Well.. It is history... It's pretty easy. =] That only took me about fifteen minutes... I didn't want to write too much...||

Sparrow was working hard on her assignment, but she had no idea why wizards did not feel the need to understand this process. Personally, Sparrow found the Process very interesting. She made her best guess and wrote down her ideas. She found this much harder than the first year assignment she had accidentally done and it was an obvious reason why. Third years need to be challenged more than first years. She wondered if she would get extra credit for doing the first year assignment by accident but figured she wouldn't because it had been by accident. When she finally finished the assignment she stood up and walked over to the professor and said, "Here you are Professor, the correct assignment on Photosynthesis." She handed it to her.

Sparrow's Assignment on Photosynthesis…

Light is absorbed by the leaves which contain chlorophyll. That energy is then used to create food for the plant. Water is absorbed through the roots of the plant. Carbon dioxide enters the plant, and oxygen is given off by the plant into the air. Humans breathe out carbon dioxide and breathe in oxygen; therefore, plants and humans could not exist without one another to give each other the necessary gasses to live.

The Wizarding World most likely doesn’t feel the need to comprehend the idea of photosynthesis because wizards do not usually wonder why things work the way that they do. We just go along with it and do not wonder about the reasoning behind the idea.

((Yay fail! smile LOL sorry I really have no idea ))

Catalina let out an interested noise when Sparrow turned in her assignment. "Not bad at all," she commented, nodding her head in approval. "You may be excused until next class Senorita Sparrow," Catalina decreed.

(That's okay, I'm already in the process of trying to put something else there instead the next time I used this lesson. I had a hard time coming up with it.)

User Image(Hah. I'm not learning American history. And don't worry Yami. He's thirteen. I actually know the spell "Scourgify" but he's not supposed to.)

Her own attitude, sheepish, made her look cute. Nathaniel suddenly felt a certain interest for her but he decided to get to know her better before drawing any conclusions. Did he actually think that ? Maybe there was something wrong with him. Blamed it on the ink. "Really ?" he didn't look too surprised. "Does anyone know a cleaning spell ?" he asked louder. Before anyone could reply he whispered back at Ginelle. "Well, you owe me then. Better watch out." he teased.

The expression on his face told her that he was dissappointed. She was new to magic by far, so there was no way that she would know many spells. She hardly knew any spells. Only a few, such as 'accio' and 'colovaria'. She learned a few more from listening to other students and practicing on her own, but she really hadn't much of a clue about a cleaning spell. As he began to ask about it, something clicked in her mind. Her father, when she was young, used to point his wand at the dishes and say something. What was it...? She started to rack her memory for the word, hoping that she could figure it out...
Before she could say anything, he spoke to her. Then, as soon as she finished, without saying a word to him, she pointed her want at the back of his head"Scourgify!" She really hadn't any clue what the spell would do, because she had never used it before, nor had she known how to use it. The memories she was trying to remember were so long ago that she never had much of a memory for it. But now that she was in the school and learning, she started to remember little things, like how to fly a broom, and about the doxy. She started to remember the cleaning spell, and that was why she said what she did. Just like she hoped, the spell cleaned the back of his head. "To be completely honest, I didn't know that was the spell... I could have blown your head off..." she admitted. Hopefully he wouldn't be mad...

User Image(ok!)

Nathaniel was expecting something. He wasn't expecting the ton of soap. The bubbles scratched and had some strange sensation but when it was all over he probably never was this clean. Scourgify huh ? More like Spongify. Even though Nathaniel was now completely blanked of any signs of dirtiness, he completely understood how cars felt when they went through a washer. He coughed up a bubble but still grateful. Maybe he should've been mad. A warning was the least she could do. "Thanks" he said. "Well, I'm clean and not nearly beheaded like Nearly Headless Nick. Just give me a minute to finish my assignment" He slumped on his desk. Fully concentrating.

Quote:
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz & The Fountain of Fair Fortune

In the Wizard of Oz, a young girl founds herself transported into another world. She hears of a Wizard, who can grant wishes. He lives in Emerald City and might be the solution to her predicament. She wishes to go home after all. Accompanied with her dog, Toto, she mets three different characters. The Scarecrow, who believes he has no brains; the Tin Man, who lacks a heart and the Cowardly Lion, who's missing bravery. They all head towards the City, as the Wizard can help them all. On their way, they meet several obstacles. In each of those, the three travelers uses what they lack. The Scarecrow comes up with solutions, the Tin Man is often moved to tears while the Cowardly Lion's often courageous. In the end, the Wizard gives them a kind of placebo to convince them they've fulfilled their quests. Dorothy returns home with a pair of magical slippers.

Muggles must have read this story because of its own magical universe but also about self-confidence. The three companions believed they were lacking in things but it was only their self-doubts that kept them from being who they wanted. It's similar to the "Fountain of Fair Fortune" tale from the "Tale of Beedle the Bard" book. In it are a knight and three women. The travelers look for a fountain that once per year, the person who bathes in it will get one wish granted. Just like the Wizard of Oz, the travelers all had their own solution for their problems. Maybe the Muggle who wrote the story was inspired by the tale ? Or is it the opposite ?

Catalina gave a hard look at Nathaniel's essay. It was very well done, covered all the important elements of the assignment, and related the struggles of wizards to that of muggles. "Excellent," she purred. "You may be excused until the next lesson Senor Ward."

User Image"Gracias Maestra !" he curtly replied with the minimum of spanish he could gather. He starting packing some stuff before putting it all on his desk. Nathaniel thought he could spend time here. He wasn't in a hurry. Besides, now he had time to chat with some classmates.

|| Just finished...||

Ginelle nodded. She was actually pretty proud of herself for getting something right for once. She hadn't been as magic-savvy as she could have hoped for when she started. Maybe that was why she was in gryffindor - she wasn't afraid to take risks. She had her fears, and she let them conquer her, but she wasn't afraid of hopping on a broom for the first time, or getting close to a poisonous doxy. She was good at taking risks, because she wasn't afraid of dying.
"Well, look at it this way," she said. "You're ...Uh... as clean as a whistle!" Ginelle just realized how stupid that muggle saying really was right then. Whistles weren't clean in any means of the imagination. They had spit all over them, and were used at sporting events where they were dropped and covered in sweat. "Sorry... Muggle saying." she said with an embarrassed laugh of some sort.
Ginelle glanced down at his paper. They were doing literature in the second year class, she deduced. What was The Fountain of Fair Fortune? she wondered. She smiled at his insightful paper, and sat back in her seat, hoping he wouldn't have caught her reading over his shoulder.

User ImageWell, he did notice. "Muggle saying ?" Nathaniel etched a bigger smile. Maybe he found someone who understood where he came from. No one knew about his parental past. Two generations of non-wizards. "May I query as to how you know about muggle sayings ?" He never understood why it was clean as a whistle. With his British accent, it sounded wrong anyways.

Ginelle briefly looked away, a bit discomfortable around him at the moment. She did just throw her quill at him, and used a spell that she didn't know the use for. She did it on sheer gut, hoping it would be the right spell. As Nathaniel asked her the question, she still didn't look at him. Her past was a bit... embarrassing to her. She didn't like being a girl with a muggle parent. She loved her mother, yes, but she could never relate with anyone about anything. She didn't even know about quidditch when she came to the school. "Well, my mother told me about it growing up... She would always tell me 'You are as clean as a whistle, dear.' She is a muggle, and she raised me, so..." She felt embarrassed to know things like this. But, then again, why would he be asking?
